Chapter 1545: Chapter 272: Treading the Bloody Wind, Arriving in Golden Armor
As a tool person… oh, more like a great Lamp Genie.
Therefore, no matter what wishes the summoner makes, as long as the Magic Lamp acknowledges them, the Red Lamp Spirit will try to fulfill them—depending on their mood.
It really depends on their mood.
For example, if a summoner wishes for the ability to gain immortality, there are many ways to achieve it—such as petrifying the summoner, turning him into a stone—then he achieves immortality, right?
This is a highly efficient and feasible method that the Red Lamp Spirit has figured out from realizing hundreds of wishes before—of course, the Magic Lamp’s acknowledgment of the Red Lamp Spirit’s way of fulfilling a summoner’s wish seems to vary with its mood as well…
To make this Princess happy—the definition of happiness is too broad, the Red Lamp Spirit couldn’t help but furrow its brows… How could the Magic Lamp acknowledge such a generalized and non-specific wish?
Happiness… Does this mean maintaining this Princess’s happiness index continuously, or is it enough to let her feel happiness for a moment?
The Red Lamp Spirit always felt that the Magic Lamp is not a lifeless machine but a thinking and judging mind… It even had to wonder if the Magic Lamp perceived its plan for five hundred wishes and thus intentionally acknowledged the little girl Arian’s overly broad and grand wish just to give some reminder.
“Got it, make this Princess happy, right?” The Red Lamp Spirit answered disinterestedly, looking like a withered plant, totally devoid of vitality.
Little Maid didn’t care about these and nodded vigorously.
The Red Lamp Spirit shook its head and waved at this Little Maid—with a wave of its hand, a flash of red light passed over the Little Maid, after which she was clad in a set of Golden Armor.
She grasped a Golden Spear in her right hand, and her left hand bore a small round Golden Shield attached to the hand armor. Amazingly, she couldn’t feel the weight of the entire Golden Armor… It felt as light as ordinary clothing!
“What’s this?”
“Aren’t you trying to make your Princess happy?” The Red Lamp Spirit said in a grumpy tone, “To make her happy, she has to stay alive first, doesn’t she? If she dies, wouldn’t I have to spend energy to resurrect her? So naturally, saving her first is required!”
“Me… going to save her?” The Little Maid suddenly snapped back to reality.
The Red Lamp Spirit said indifferently at this moment, “I gave you enough power to defeat this big guy, so naturally, you do it yourself… You didn’t ask me to act! I also have to figure out a way to make this Princess happy, when do I have so much free time… go ahead, early return, or don’t come back if you can’t.”
Saying this, the Red Lamp Spirit blew a breath towards the Little Maid, and a scarlet wind whipped through the hall, blowing the Little Maid clad in Golden Armor out of the hall… She couldn’t help but scream in fright.
But the Red Lamp Spirit picked its ears, lounged on the Pharaoh’s Throne, and yawned—a Magic Lamp’s Genie cannot actively harm the summoner.
But if the summoner is hellbent on dying, or wants to die, it can’t stop them either!
“What the heck is this place, why do I have such an uneasy feeling…”
Sitting there, an inexplicable wave of thoughts surged in the Red Lamp Spirit’s mind, making it visibly uneasy.
It felt like being peeped at by something… The Red Lamp Spirit suddenly frowned and swiftly looked toward a corner of the hall.
Its body floated directly over to the corner wall of the hall… Looking at this wall, its frown deepened.
Suddenly, it inserted its hand into the wall… The wall cracked instantly, and the Red Lamp Spirit pulled out something from inside—a strange metal box, with wires attached to it.
The Red Lamp Spirit suspiciously pulled at the wires connected to this box and quickly found a similar metal box from another part of the wall.
This box was also attached to a wire… The Red Lamp Spirit was even more puzzled this time; it began pulling at the connected wire once more, and from the hall’s walls, ceiling, pillars… even the floor, it found one metal box after another.
“Why are these things hidden everywhere?” The Red Lamp Spirit became increasingly confused.
It looked at the pile of metal boxes it had pulled from the hall’s center—felt they were the source of its peeping sensation.
It couldn’t help picking up one metal box and realized it was still connected with a wire… And this wire was connected to somewhere outside the hall.
The Red Lamp Spirit’s mind flashed with insight; it grabbed the wire and then closed its eyes—as a dignified… Mana-endowed lamp spirit, it could do many things with magic.
For example, at this moment, it could use Mana, to let its Spiritual Sense travel along this wire leading outside… Spiritual Sense flowed along like water in a pipe, spreading quickly through the wire to a distant place.
Who knows how long it took before the Red Lamp Spirit suddenly opened its eyes, revealing an astonished look—its Spiritual Sense had been split into thousands of parts!
“This stuff…” The Red Lamp Spirit frowned deeply because it found that these wires were like spider silk, covering the entire City of the Sun… Those metal boxes were like nodes, and the City of the Sun similarly hid a large number of such metal boxes!
The Royal Palace… the streets outside the Royal Palace, houses, statues, walls… even inside the rooms of the City of the Sun’s residents!
“Could this thing be monitoring everything in the City of the Sun?”
Even as a Genie of the Magic Lamp, the Red Lamp Spirit was stunned for the first time by such an act—if its intuition hadn’t gone wrong, then every creature in the City of the Sun, every action, no matter how big or small, was being recorded completely!
And this giant network covering the City of the Sun had a central point akin to a hub—this place was not far from the hall, located at the depths of the Royal Palace… where the Temple was.
“Hmm… what does it matter to me?” The Red Lamp Spirit lazily sat back on the Pharaoh’s Throne.
The truth of the matter is—it cannot leave the Magic Lamp very far unless someone carries the lamp.
…
The Princess’s clothes had long been soaked by sweat… She felt her stamina was quite limited, and her legs were as if filled with gold, becoming increasingly heavy.
In front of the huge Giant Serpent Beast, still fierce… After all, the Royal Guards are not warriors of the Expeditionary Force, facing such a ferocious beast, it was extremely challenging to lift weapons and organize attacks—to pierce the gaps or weak spots between the scales of the beast was as difficult as ascending to heaven—even though they were fighting hard.
Just as the Princess felt the situation was getting out of control, the Royal Guards who had gone to notify the Expeditionary Force outside the Royal Palace finally successfully led the force into the palace.
The Princess did not relax because of this. She leaned against a broken pillar at this moment, wanting to quickly regain her strength while also commanding the Expeditionary Force to fight against this rampaging beast.
“Prepare the incendiary bombs!”
One by one, the Expeditionary Force warriors poured black oil into containers, then ignited them—they used special tools to directly throw these burning containers at the Giant Serpent Beast.
The Giant Serpent Beast was immediately engulfed in flames.
“Form ranks, charge! Spearmen ready!”
Princess’s voice echoed across the battlefield, as shield warriors and spear warriors advanced step by step. Amidst the chaos, their sharp spears aimed relentlessly at the weak points of the Giant Serpent Beast’s scales!
Under the burning flames, the Beast let out a wail of agony. The attacking spears managed to penetrate its scales. Unlike the Royal Guards, the Expeditionary Force was experienced in hunting giant beasts, with ten years of practice and collaboration sparking their coordinated assault.
“We can win!”
Seeing this scene, the guards immediately cried out.
At this moment, the Princess, having regained some strength, slowly raised the black pistol in her hand, aiming at the serpent’s head—intending to shoot through its eye, hoping to make the expeditionary force’s siege easier.
But at that moment, something unexpected occurred!
Out of nowhere, a strange green light burst from a Gray Crystal under the jaw of the Giant Serpent Beast—the instant the green light appeared, the Beast opened its maw and swallowed all the flames on its body!
Even the Expeditionary Force had never witnessed a beast swallowing flames, quite taken aback… The Giant Serpent Beast suddenly opened its jaws again, letting out an ear-shattering roar!
The tremendous roar seemed as though it could overturn the entire desert…
At this moment, after letting out the earth-shattering sound, the Giant Serpent Beast opened its mouth once more, this time spewing forth scorching flames!
The armor of the Expeditionary Force could repel sharp weapons and absorb tremendous force but was helpless against the fiery onslaught!
In an instant, the favorable situation plunged into a nadir… Watching expeditors getting engulfed in flames one after another, the Princess, alarmed, forced herself to remain calm, “Retreat! Maintain formation, retreat! RETREAT!! I said retreat, retreat!!”
No matter how loud her voice, the screams always overpowered… The Princess felt an ache in her throat and coughed up a spurt of fresh blood.
Yet this was not the most desperate situation…the true despair descended when the Princess discovered something was stirring beneath the rubble of the laboratory…stirring ominously.
Suddenly, a massive skeletal arm shattered the debris, reaching out… right near the Princess!
An eerie scream echoed simultaneously!
On the other side, amid the Royal Guard squad aiding the Expeditionary Force, chaos ensued… On the ground, a segment of the Beast’s body began crawling!
An overwhelming stench hit the Princess’s nostrils… She recognized the scent—this was the preservative solution used to submerge the beast’s bodies in the laboratory!
Those beasts that had perished… are now revived!
One by one, the beasts crawled out of the rubble. Some with intact bodies, others merely half a body… even those with just a skull extruded tentacles of flesh from them…
Massacre!
Merely the Giant Serpent Beast inflicted heavy casualties on the Expeditionary Force, let alone now with the originally deceased beasts from the research specimens also revived!
A one-sided massacre unfolded before the Princess, gaping at the fallen warriors’ figures, reminiscent of something. She abruptly raised her head, observing the Gray Crystal beneath the serpent’s jaw.
“It’s the Curse Stone!”
The Princess instantaneously realized and aimed the Divine Artifact pistol directly at the Curse Stone beneath the Giant Serpent Beast’s jaw, vehemently squeezing the trigger.
Her marksmanship was stellar, every bullet striking the Curse Stone beneath the serpent’s jaw, yet the bullets could not shatter the cursed stone.
At that instant, behind the Princess, a sharp bone spike was hurtling towards her, yet she remained oblivious!
“Your Highness! Watch out!”
In the blink of an eye, a figure descended from the sky… It was the Little Maid blown here by the whirlwind of the Lamp Genie!
The Princess, instinctually startled, came to her senses, witnessing the young maid clad in Golden Armor, shielding with her shield against the incoming bone spike!
“Arian?” The Princess called the young maid by name.
The Little Maid, merely remembering to turn her head, intending to say something, thrust the Golden Spear silently… unexpectedly piercing a revived but dissected beast… The bone spike was shot from the beast’s chest!
“Your Highness, I… I don’t know what’s happening… It moved on its own!”
The Little Maid exclaimed in terror.
Yet her actions were akin to a seasoned warrior, deftly evading the Beast’s attacks, meanwhile counterattacking with her spear… The spear not only easily penetrated the scales of the beasts but effortlessly flipped them over.
Clad in Golden Armor, the Little Maid Arian appeared as a Valkyrie on the battlefield, singlehandedly driving back five or six of the resurrected beasts.
“The Curse Stone!” At this moment, the Princess could no longer concern herself why the Little Maid Arian possessed such Divine Power, and urgently exclaimed, “That beast, see the stone under its jaw… Attack it! It’s controlling these beasts!”
“But… but I can’t reach it?” The Little Maid responded, her face ashen.
She had barely finished speaking when her arm moved autonomously… performing a throwing action, the Golden Spear flew from her grasp!
The thrown Golden Spear… Like an arrow darting through the air, a whooshing sound accompanied! Sensing danger, the Giant Serpent Beast swung its tail, trying to swat away the incoming spear!
But unexpectedly, the Golden Spear pierced through its tail, unimpeded, and in a flash shattered the Curse Stone beneath its jaw!
Crack… The Curse Stone shattered instantly.
The moment the Curse Stone shattered, the Giant Serpent Beast immediately halted all movements, its body turning to sand bit by bit… Finally, the entire body crumbled to sand, scattering away.
Those resurrected beasts, too, collapsed one after another… A terrifying crisis, concluded by a single spear throw from the Little Maid!
The Princess gazed incredulously at the Little Maid, puzzled why she possessed such Divine Power… but she desired nothing more than to embrace the Little Maid who saved everyone.
“This is bad! Really bad!!”
Suddenly, a scream sounded, “Outside the city walls… There’s a giant beast approaching! A lot! A lot!! A lot!!!”
