Chapter 1278: Chapter 5: Simultaneous Attacks

Chapter 1278: Chapter 5: Simultaneous Attacks

The black flames burning on Red had already dissipated with the wind just before he was about to crash to the ground.

Mr. Clown suddenly jumped down, catching Red before his body completely fell and was smashed to a pulp, then with a few leaps, he landed outside the crowd… at a corner of the square where the Fog Capital’s Eye was, avoiding the crowd.

The Ferris wheel continued to rotate slowly, but Mr. Clown frowned tightly as he stared at the numerous cabins.

He also checked on Red’s condition at the same time.

At this moment, Red could only be described as in a terrible state—he had completely lost consciousness, his clothes had been completely burned away, his skin had turned largely charred… even his eyes had rolled back.

“Mr. Dagonet!”

At this moment, three Grand Knights from the Round Table Organization pushed through the crowd, found Mr. Clown’s location, and rushed over immediately, “What happened, for a moment just now, it seemed like the Fog Capital’s Eye was about to fall… What’s this?”

Their eyes simultaneously fell on the charred figure that Mr. Clown carried on his shoulder.

“This is Red.” Dagonet casually tossed the person onto the ground, “He’s still breathing. Take him back, he might be saved.”

“As expected of Mr. Dagonet!” The three Grand Knights immediately looked at him with admiration, “Congratulations on defeating a senior member of the ‘Doomsday Myth’!”

“It wasn’t me… you guys head back first, I still have matters to attend to.”

Mr. Clown shook his head, then, under their astonished gazes, once again headed toward the crowd… toward the Fog Capital’s Eye.

They weren’t aware of what had just happened to the Fog Capital’s Eye, nor the terrifying black flames that had suddenly appeared… but Jester Dagonet saw it all clearly, including the restoration scene where the Ferris wheel’s bearings were repaired.

Dagonet walked through the crowd—who were discussing the incident just now. Clearly, not few had seen the displacement of the Fog Capital’s Eye. But the fact was that the Fog Capital’s Eye continued to rotate without any incident, making everyone find it odd.

“It seems like a restoration spell… but such a level of restoration, who besides those at the Magician’s Association could use it.”

His gaze searched through the crowd, not even sparing those lovers walking out of the cabins, attempting to find some clues.

But until this batch of tourists who boarded the Ferris wheel completely left, and the staff chose to temporarily close the Fog Capital’s Eye due to the disturbance, making the crowd disperse quite a bit, Dagonet still found nothing of value.

However, his clown suit did attract quite a bit of attention from tourists — in the end, Dagonet could only leave this place with questions in his mind, returning to the Round Table Organization to report.

Because the person in charge, Mr. Pukins, had already given him an order that couldn’t be ignored, requiring him to return immediately and explain Red’s situation.

Later, after thorough checks, the staff found that the Fog Capital’s Eye indeed had no faults and once again reopened it at the strong request of the tourists.

A new batch of tourists was queuing to enter the cabins.

Boss Luo bought two ice creams from a nearby ice cream cart, went to the maid’s side, and smiled lightly, “Let’s ride it again, this time don’t get angry… nothing strange should happen.”

“I’m not angry.” The maid smiled slightly.

Boss Luo just smiled without saying anything… he had scorched someone that badly already.

Afterward, indeed nothing happened.

Sir Pukins was sixty years old this year, his gray hair was meticulously groomed—as the person in charge of the Fog Capital’s Round Table Organization, he had served for over thirty years, witnessing the birth of two generations of Twelve Knights of the Round Table.

But he was just an ordinary person, without the strength and powerful physique of the knights—but he had another identity, a member of the ancient British Empire’s royal family.

“…That’s about it.” Mr. Clown stood standardly in front of Sir Pukins, “I suspect a magician of significant power has appeared in the Fog Capital, capable of not only using high-grade restoration techniques but also wielding terrifyingly powerful black flames.”

“According to our information from the Magician’s Association, there is no one matching your description, Knight Dagonet,” Sir Pukins said slowly, “Of course, I believe as a noble knight, you wouldn’t deceive me. So, I will send people to investigate quickly… Now, we should discuss Red’s matter.”

Dagonet said in surprise, “Sir, hadn’t Red already been captured?”

Sir Pukins gestured for a moment of patience, and just then, the door was pushed open and Knight Gareth, one of the Twelve Knights, walked in directly.

As a cornerstone of the nation, the Fog Capital had three of the Twelve Knights of the Round Table, one tasked with protecting Her Majesty the Queen, while the other two, Gareth and Dagonet, were mainly responsible for security issues involving non-human creatures in the Fog Capital area.

Of course, it’s mostly the ordinary knights and Grand Knights from the organization that were deployed… Gareth occasionally participated in ordinary activities, primarily out of boredom. As for Dagonet, he acted based on his mood and only took action on matters that interested him.

“Gareth is here, we can start now,” Sir Pukins said, tapping the table.

Gareth suddenly asked, “Sir, do we not need to wait for Lancelot?”

Sir Pukins responded, “Lancelot is currently beside Her Majesty the Queen and can’t excuse himself for the time being. I will send this meeting’s minutes to him later.”

“What exactly happened?” Gareth asked seriously — it was rare for Pukins to discuss issues with him and Dagonet simultaneously.

The last time was to address the issue with the Thirteen Clans’ upcoming Holy Blood Ceremony this year… more than a month ago.

“It’s about the ‘Doomsday Myth’ organization.” Sir Perkins turned off the lights in the room and then switched on the projector at the side.

On the wall, the projected information began to stand out. Images flashed before Gareth and Dagonet, their faces gradually becoming serious.

“The Scottish National Museum, Blenheim Palace, Sheffield Cathedral, and Old Trafford Stadium! And the stadium is even hosting a league match, with tens of thousands of fans watching from their seats.” Sir Perkins said gravely, “Just tonight, over an hour ago, these places were simultaneously attacked… if you count the Fog Capital’s Eye, that’s a total of five locations!”

“Who would do this?” Gareth frowned tightly… this was clearly a major provocation against the British Empire.

“The shadow serpent is about to reappear, and this is just the beginning, starting with death!” Sir Perkins said sternly, “‘Doomsday Myth’… and without exception, these attacked locations all had this phrase written in blood.”

“These thugs, are they planning to declare war on us?” Dagonet squinted his eyes.

“Whether it’s a declaration of war, I don’t know.” Sir Perkins said gravely, “But it’s clear that Her Majesty the Queen is very angered upon learning of these incidents… ‘Doomsday Myth’ is so brazen, daring to openly attack so many places, that in the next moment, they might directly storm the Imperial Palace! Her Majesty the Queen now doesn’t want Lancelot to leave her side even for a moment!”

“Logically speaking, ‘Doomsday Myth’ is just a newly emerged organization…” Gareth pondered, “Most of their recruits are from the wanted list of the Magician’s Association, as well as some ill-reputed Non-Humans… but overall, they’re just a scattered group, and haven’t done anything too outrageous this past year. What exactly is the reason for such a grand-scale action this time…”

“We must learn something from the already captured Red, otherwise we’ll remain in a passive position.” Sir Perkins said solemnly, “Knight Gareth, Knight Dalgarno, I now officially order you two to root out all personnel related to ‘Doomsday Myth’ hidden within the Fog Capital, and absolutely prevent these madmen from operating under our noses again!”

“Sir, what about those few lost Beastmen?” Gareth reminded.

“Let Grand Knight Simpton conduct a thorough search… the most important thing right now is to organize ‘Doomsday Myth’s upcoming activities, especially preventing similar attacks from happening again!”

“As you command!”

The two stood upright, clenching their fists and placing them on their chests.

On the street, night travelers stood in front of the window of a television shop—watching the emergency news being reported on TV.

They all covered their mouths with their hands—because the news report was really terrifying.

It seemed to be a terrorist attack, occurring simultaneously at different locations, with casualty numbers still being tallied… but no organization has claimed responsibility yet.

The maid’s mood was good, ever since descending from the Fog Capital’s Eye for the second time—she’d been in high spirits—even as she watched the news, it barely affected her, as she was dutifully accompanying her master in watching the news broadcast on TV.

“It should be the same group as those at the Fog Capital’s Eye earlier.” Luo Qiu mused.

Though the maid did throw out a black flame—but unless a guest requests it, the club usually doesn’t harm any creature—after all, under the previous boss’s business model, everyone could be a potential customer.

But naturally, it wasn’t considered a minor punishment… after all, it could be said that a good portion of one’s life was directly burned away.

“For dangerous sources that could lead to the deaths of many potential customers, it seems necessary to clean them up.” The maid said softly with a smile.

“We aren’t exactly righteous agents either.”

Luo Qiu chuckled, quite amused by the maid’s unconventional emotional expression—such reasoning seemed reasonable, given that compared to his predecessor, he actually had more freedom.

“There seems to be a similar Management Bureau here.” Luo Qiu thought aloud, “They should handle it… Hmm, do you know about the Round Table Knights?”

The maid resonated, “Master, are you referring to Mr. Amunst, whom we encountered at Tu Shenyi’s estate?”

Luo Qiu nodded, flipping his palm to reveal a necklace—something Amunst handed over before dying, an opportunity to participate in the Twelve Knights’ inheritance trial.

Such opportunities are likely very precious—for those wishing to become knights. But for Boss Luo, it naturally holds little value.

It can’t be considered a trade item but instead, something Amunst offered before his death… Luo Qiu thought about giving such an inheritance opportunity to a suitable person.

“How much do you know about the Round Table Knights, Master?” the maid asked softly.

Luo Qiu honestly replied, “Not much, just the commonly known stories of King Arthur, the Sword in the Lake, fairies… Hmm, I suppose cartoons from childhood don’t count… Is there really a fairy in the lake?”

The maid thought aloud, “Commonly, King Arthur’s Sword in the Lake is said to be inspired by the Celtic Pantheon, specifically the demonic sword ‘Caladbolg’ used by the hero Fergus Mac Roich. As for the fairy in the lake, she also belongs to the Celtic Pantheon… The Queen of the Shadow Country, summoned by Lord Lucifer in South America previously, also originates from this pantheon.”

“Celtic Pantheon…” Luo Qiu nodded, remembering this pantheon.

The maid suddenly said, “However, the Celtic Pantheon is extinct, the entire Divine Nation shattered, eventually devoured by dimensional cracks. Many deities from the pantheon could only survive by being within the Heroic Spirit realm, serving contracted individuals as Servants, thus enduring as Heroic Spirits. In fact, after dying and returning to Avalon, King Arthur also became a summoned Heroic Spirit when the Divine Nation perished. As for the first generation Twelve Knights, not long after, they too became Heroic Spirits. However, before dying, all twelve knights left behind part of their power to guard the land.”

She twirled her finger around the tip of her hair, lightly spinning it, “The Knights of the Round Table Organization actually retained parts of the first generation knights’ power, established after their deaths. Over the years, it has been nurturing qualified knights to pass on those powers. Initially, the Knights of the Round Table Organization seemed more like a civil association, not involved in Britannia’s later splits and wars, merely opposing local evils… but in modern times, it has gained official recognition. The key turning point was a secret marriage between the modern Royal Family and a descendant of Arthur, successfully allowing the modern British Royal family to intervene in the Knight Agency.”

“I see…” Luo Qiu nodded, then chuckled, “Let’s head back; it wouldn’t be proper to let a lady stand on the street.”

The maid was no longer upset.
