Tower of Endless: Death Granted Entry
Chapter 247: Sneaking Schedule
It took Lexie a moment to yield. "Fine!" she stomped and turned to leave.
"Tomorrow, you can only get in the ring after the drill is over; don’t interrupt others again," Moon instructed before returning to the troubled soldiers still waiting.
Throughout the exchange, Moon was sure that Lexie had been given many good things to raise her stats and improve her physique.
He couldn’t help scratching his head. "A gold-swallowing pig with the survival instinct of a cheesecake," he whispered before resuming the training.
He couldn’t better express his impression of the exchange he had just had right now against Lexie. He also knew she wouldn’t just sit and train her Echo control slowly.
Not to mention, her weapon mastery.
Moon sighed inwardly as the training went on, resuming another day that went in the same routine without a hitch.
Yet, Moon was starting something new, something of his own.
For when darkness overtook the sky, the drill was over, and the meetings concluded. Moon went to his room.
There, Moon fished the hooded coat from his bag along with the cat mask Ed had bought him on that day.
He covered his head with the hood before he blew out the lamp and stepped out of the window.
Moon jumped to the closest tree to the other.
He spotted a bigger tree that was also a little far from the window and decided to leave his bag on one of the trees far away, hidden within the thick green leaves.
After a while, he disappeared into the darkness of the night, away from any source of light.
In the Control Centre, Yutian was about to go and rest now that another day had thankfully passed without any issues.
But his eyes fell on the screen where Moon snuck out of his room.
They watched for a moment before...
"Where did he go?" Yutian exclaimed. His question was aimed at Ed, who was closest to him.
Watching Moon suddenly disappear the further he went from the lights, till there was nothing.
Ed shrugged. "He’s going somewhere," he replied casually.
Moon completely blended into the darkness of the second floor, indistinguishable on any of the screens.
For a few of the onlookers, at least.
Yutian turned to Lucen. "Sir Lucen, is it possible for us to see this better?"
Everly and Uon were also looking intently.
The screen was locked onto Moon, but they couldn’t see him properly.
"Can you see him?" Yutian asked.
Ed nodded. "These screens are a form of authority over the floor, so they treat people unfairly."
Ed was telling everyone they were too weak to discern the sight before their eyes. Yet, this time he said it a little more nicely, unlike his usual fight-picking style.
Those who could see didn’t explain anything to those who couldn’t.
The younger Dokkaebi seated next to Lazzaro, Cesar, leaned closer to the older man and whispered something in his ear.
Lazzaro’s gaze turned sharp, but he didn’t say anything.
Time ticked slowly with everyone waiting for anything to happen, to see or understand. To even realize the location where Moon was right now.
But there was nothing.
For long hours, nothing changed to them on the pitch-black screen, until one second.
Moon appeared again, running back. He retrieved his bag before sneaking back into his room. Moon took off his mask and coat before collapsing into his bed.
His body was soaked in sweat, while his lungs starved for air uncontrollably.
Those who were in the Control Centre didn’t see this, for the surveillance was cut the moment Moon stepped inside his room.
Moon placed his hand on his chest, beating like a war drum under his armor.
He closed his eyes, and his mind drifted at that very instant.
Morning came again, and the daily routine played once again...
Drills, meetings... and sneaking somewhere under the cover of night and the exhaustion on everyone in the faction working hard all day long.
For the next few days, he spent every night, over 4 hours sometimes, somewhere only Lucen, Samuel, Ed and probably Cesar could see.
Returning as swiftly as he had left, only to collapse as if he had spent the entire night running for his life.
He also didn’t use his glittery Spark Echo, for it was easy to discern in the dark. Relying solely on his own physical stats for whatever task he was trying to achieve.
During these days, Lexie would only appear for 20 minutes a day to get beaten one-sidedly by Moon after the soldiers left, then return to her workshop where she worked on the potions.
It didn’t take long for the first batch of potions to come to light.
By the 4th day of Moon’s sneaking schedule, and the 5th day in the castle of Deshter.
"This is a new potion Lexie sent; we also had the first two hundred tubes of stamina potion." Talia handed Moon two tubes; one had the yellowish liquid he had seen before.
The other was half transparent pink.
Moon first brought the familiar one to the status window, and it was identical to the one he had seen except for one line.
Gives the user 1 minute of infinite stamina.
"Only one minute?" Moon exclaimed, feeling disappointed.
Understanding his disappointment, Talia nodded.
"She said this is the best she could achieve with the material the kingdom had and the number of potions she needed to create."
Moon nodded in understanding.
One minute was still a long time in battle, though 3 minutes would have always been better.
Moon started checking the second tube, the pinkish one.
Basic Healing Potion
[Indications]
Aids the user’s natural healing speed by 20 times.
Compatible with ascenders of the third floor and lower.
[Side effects]
Could only be used once a day; more doses would result in excessive bleeding.
Creator: Lexie of Thorn
Moon’s eyebrows once again started climbing the ladder to his hairline. "Wow!"
He was seeing Lexie in a new light now; she was far from being the useless brat he had thought she was. These were truly game-changing items.
His eyes sought Talia’s so he could understand this potion better.
Talia smiled. "It’s actually not much; 20 times is enough for most broken bones to heal overnight, but it won’t miraculously make someone on the verge of dying return to life."
Moon blinked. Bones healing overnight was miraculous by all means to him.
Still, he wouldn’t be able to use it anyway.
Ed had banned him from using anything that would influence his natural healing in any way, so he probably wouldn’t ever get to use this item.
Still, it was something insane to see for a country bumpkin like himself.
"Using anything that aids your natural healing will make the shockwaves Samuel had been stacking within your body, sealed, useless." Or so Ed had said to him back then when he wanted to get treated properly for once.
Apparently, the shockwaves were constantly damaging the body slowly; thus, having the body heal itself would make it gradually stronger.
It wasn’t simply about using the shockwaves for attack and defence, but to make the body tougher, the ears indestructible and eyes that couldn’t be considered weak points.
It made Moon wonder what kind of enemies Samuel had faced to reach this point of insecurity.
Regardless, the meeting was coming to an end.
"General Gustav!" Suddenly, the door of the meeting room opened, and a panting soldier shouted in urgency.
