Chapter 249.2: The Breakthrough Begins! The Limit of the Primordial Chaos Saint Body: Thirteen Forces from the Origin of Heaven and Earth! (II)

  • Next Chapter

Lu Changsheng pulled out a book from the shelf and read the text quietly. The more origins of heaven and earth a person can stir, and the longer the Saint Body can endure that process, the greater its transformation will be. Then, the foundation formed upon reaching Earthly Saint will also be greater...

He flipped through a few more pages, then moved on to other books about becoming an Earthly Saint. Many of the texts did provide techniques and insights concerning the advancement from Human Saint to Earthly Saint, but one question remained unclear to him.

Could I use any kind of origin of heaven and earth? Are some Laws better than others, or would any origin suffice?

Lu Changsheng searched through one book after another, but none gave a definite answer. From everything he found, the particular Law seemed almost irrelevant. What truly mattered was the force of the origin of heaven and earth.

The Immortal Dao emphasizes contemplation. Deities rely upon Laws. The Martial Dao emphasizes strength. Whether a martial artist is a Human Saint or an Earthly Saint, it makes no difference. Strength reigns supreme. For a Human Saint, it does not matter what type of Saint Body one possesses. Strength is the only important element. Similarly, for an Earthly Saint, the particular Law one comprehends is not of vital importance. What truly matters is whether one can draw enough force from the origin of heaven and earth to cleanse your Saint Body.

A faint realization gradually formed in Lu Changsheng's mind. During his cultivation journey, he had already encountered experts from several different systems, including the Immortal Dao and deity system. By comparing those with the Martial Dao, he had gradually begun to understand what truly distinguished the Martial Dao from the rest.

The Martial Dao meant contending against heaven and earth. A martial artist did not seek to entrust their strength to heaven and earth, to the Laws, or to anything external. Everything ultimately returned to the self. Their power belonged to them alone. As long as they possessed sufficient strength, they could continue advancing through the Martial Dao, overcoming every obstacle before them. At its very core, the Martial Dao pursued invincibility through one's own power.

When I ascend to Earthly Saint, I only need to stir the origin of heaven and earth to draw power from them. The more I can stir, the better.

Lu Changsheng's thoughts became completely clear. There was no longer any uncertainty in his mind.

With his Perception having reached the level of a Heaven-Born Saint, Lu Changsheng could already see the individual lines of the Laws and even glimpse the origins of heaven and earth concealed behind them. He no longer needed deity fragments to guide him. When the time came, he could stir up as many origins of heaven and earth as his Primordial Chaos Saint Body could withstand.

Having resolved the final doubts in his heart, Lu Changsheng left the library and returned to his cave residence, where he quietly began adjusting himself to his peak condition.

Days passed, and representatives from the other nine sacred lands arrived one after another. Lu Changsheng handed over the promised deity fragments to each of them in turn.

Naturally, the Martial Saints who came to collect them were delighted. They had expected to wait much longer, yet Lu Changsheng had returned with their deity fragments before two years had even passed. Ultimately, this arrangement had been most beneficial for the sacred lands. The only bad part was that a deal like this would likely never come again.

In truth, many of them hoped Lu Changsheng might return to the Divine Region again for the deity fragments. Even the Heavenly River Sacred Land entertained the same thought. If he could obtain so many deity fragments in only a year or two, how many more might he bring back after ten years, twenty years, or even a century?

Of course, they knew this was all just wishful thinking. Lu Changsheng was a Martial Saint, and a supreme Martial Saint at that; not someone the sacred lands could send into the Divine Region whenever they wanted more deity fragments. If he ever returned to the Divine Region, it would be because he chose to, not because anyone summoned him.

At this point, Lu Changsheng himself had no intention of going back. He no longer needed deity fragments, and more than a dozen still remained in his possession. Since staying in the Divine Region offered him no further benefit, there was no reason to waste his time there merely to gather resources for others.

Instead, he announced that he would be entering seclusion and would not receive any visitors from the sacred lands. This was not merely an excuse to avoid their attempts at persuasion. He genuinely intended to enter seclusion because the time had come for his breakthrough.

Inside the secret chamber of his cave residence, Lu Changsheng shut himself away completely. Nearly three months had passed since his return to the Heavenly River Sacred Land, and he saw no reason to wait any longer. His preparations were complete; all that remained was for his Saint Body to reach Perfection.

***

Three months and three days had passed since Lu Changsheng returned to the Heavenly River Sacred Land.

Buzz...

His entire body trembled, and his Saint Body suddenly manifested on its own.

The Primordial Chaos Saint Body has finally reached Perfection!

With that, Lu Changsheng wasted no time. He focused his mind and began his cultivation.

His consciousness immediately pierced deep into the void, where different origins of heaven and earth appeared before him one after another. With his terrifying Perception at the level of a Heaven-Born Saint, his consciousness penetrated effortlessly into their depths.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The first origin Lu Changsheng stirred up was a fire origin. He did not know exactly what kind of fire it represented, nor did he need to. The moment he willed it, the fire origin responded. Its power poured over him and his Primordial Chaos Saint Body grew to a thousand zhang.

Fortunately, formations had been laid throughout Lu Changsheng's cave residence. The space within the secret chamber could expand or contract as necessary, allowing it to accommodate not only a thousand-zhang Saint Body, but even one ten thousand zhang tall. His cave residence would remain completely unaffected by the expansion of his Saint Body.

From the unseen depths of heaven and earth, the force of the fire origin poured down and entered the Primordial Chaos Saint Body. But that force was not something that could simply be absorbed without consequence.

The instant it entered his Saint Body, the entire Primordial Chaos Saint Body erupted into violent turmoil. Its enormous form trembled under the impact, as though it might collapse at any moment.

Lu Changsheng, however, remained calm.

Suppress!

He mobilized the full strength of the Primordial Chaos Saint Body and suppressed the power raging from the origin of heaven and earth within it.

As he had expected, it worked. His thousand-zhang Saint Body was so powerful that even the force from the origin of heaven and earth could not rampage within it. It was gradually brought under control and began tempering the Saint Body from within.

Lu Changsheng could clearly sense the change, but that single origin of heaven and earth was nowhere near enough.

More! I need more!

He immediately reached toward another origin of heaven and earth. This time, he stirred a water origin.

Boom!

The water origin answered as the fire origin had, pouring into his Primordial Chaos Saint Body. With the forces of the two origins now churning within the Saint Body, the pressure doubled—but so did the benefits.

The force of both origins worked at once to reshape the Saint Body, and Lu Changsheng could feel the change nearly every moment, evolving toward a state that was profoundly mysterious and difficult even for him to describe.

Still, he felt it was not enough. In fact, he was nowhere near his limits.

More!

Lu Changsheng stirred the origins of heaven and earth once again. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight... The force from one origin after another entered the Primordial Chaos Saint Body.

For an ordinary Martial Saint, surviving the cleansing of even a single origin of heaven and earth was already an extraordinary achievement. Once they endured it successfully, they would have every reason to rejoice, for they had met the fundamental requirement to become an Earthly Saint.

Lu Changsheng, however, was far from satisfied. Even several origins were not enough. He wanted as much force as his Primordial Chaos Saint Body could possibly withstand.

For other Martial Saints, this would have been impossible. Comprehending a single Law and glimpsing the origin of heaven and earth behind it would already exhaust their abilities; attempting to comprehend a dozen types was beyond imagination. No one in their right mind would spend centuries just to grasp one more Law when they could have become an Earthly Saint long before then.

However, Lu Changsheng did not have the same limitations as other Martial Saints; his Perception allowed him to do what they could not. With his Perception at the level of Heaven-Born Saint, he could see the Laws and glimpse the origin of heaven and earth behind them. To him, drawing the force of multiple origins of heaven and earth was nothing. As long as his Saint Body could endure it, he would keep going.
