Top-class Bodyguard
Chapter 1419 - 1395: Is Your Father for Sale?
The man's two hands were clasped together on the table, fingers lightly tapping the surface, exuding an appearance of assured victory. He said, "Even if ten days later, we release information claiming that no chemical additives were found in the product, will the public still believe us? They'll surely doubt the fairness of our inspection results, suspecting that we were influenced by your public relations efforts—will the product continue to sell well then?"
"A company without a market, a company that cannot generate profit, is a company without any commercial value. How far is such a company from closure? Are you willing to see it perishing in your hands like this? Listen to me, think it over. Cooperation means a win-win, otherwise, you're bound to lose."
Ren Feng looked at the young man sitting in the wicker chair, eloquently analyzing the entire situation and conspiracy reasonably, and asked, "Are you Huaxia?"
"Yes," the young man replied straightforwardly.
"Why do it?"
"I take money to do things for others." The man smiled and said, "Don't talk to me about protecting national brands or industries; I'm not interested in those. All I know is they gave me money, you didn't."
"Are you saying I must agree then?" Ren Feng asked, nearly incredulously.
"I've already told you my entire plan. You have two choices. One is to sell Qingcheng International now at a high price, getting enough money for several generations. Two is to wait until Qingcheng International is worthless, then sell it; you'll get not much money then. By that time, Cole Company wouldn't be willing to offer as much to acquire Qingcheng International." The man spoke with a sincerity edged with cold-bloodedness.
To achieve success, one must first go mad. This guy is already in a state of madness to gain great wealth. Perhaps too many successes in such ventures have inflated his confidence to an unprecedented level.
He didn't believe Ren Feng had a third choice.
Ren Feng looked at him and asked again, "Are you from the drug administration?"
"No."
"What department are you from then?"
"Why? Want to report me?" the man said contemptuously. "If I were in a department, I wouldn't mind telling you. Unfortunately, I belong to none, just a wanderer in the world."
Ren Feng nodded, saying, "Got it."
"Got what?" the man asked in confusion.
"Got that you have a good father."
"You could say that," the man admitted candidly as if not ashamed at all.
"I have one more question," Ren Feng said with a smile.
"You've asked too many questions today." The man showed no impatience, but more like a cat playing with a mouse, "But, I enjoy talking to you. Go ahead."
"This question is quite rude."
"It's okay."
"It might involve your elders."
"It's okay."
"I worry it might anger you."
"Then you'd better not ask," said the man.
Ren Feng thought seriously for a moment and said, "If I don't ask, I feel uncomfortable. So I'll ask."
"Go ahead then."
"May I ask, is your father for sale?" Ren Feng asked.
Everyone was stunned by Ren Feng's absurd question.
He asked if someone else's father was for sale, what kind of malicious intent is this? Besides, would anyone want to buy his father?
Liou Rumei smiled gleefully at Ren Feng, waiting for his shocking words, knowing the man had angered him.
He shouldn't have threatened her; he shouldn't force her to sell Qingcheng International in this way. Perhaps this trick works on others but not on her.
Liou Rumei looked at this earnest man, growing increasingly fond in her heart.
The opposite man was bewildered for a while before recovering from Ren Feng's bizarre question.
His eyes sharp, his face cold, he looked at Ren Feng and said, "I don't understand what you mean."
"Would you consider selling your father?" Ren Feng said again, "Just like you forced us to sell Qingcheng International, would you sell your father too?"
The man grinned and said, "Is there a link between these two things?"
"There is, a very close link," Ren Feng replied with a smile.
"What link?"
"The essence is the same." Ren Feng said, "We earn money from Qingcheng International; you earn money from your father's status. You force us to sell ourselves and Qingcheng International, that's killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. If you didn't have a father like that, would people still come to you for such things? No, so it's also killing the goose that lays the eggs. Are you willing to kill your egg-laying goose?"
"Do you find this funny?" the man said coldly. Ren Feng's question clearly angered him.
"Isn't it exactly like that?" Ren Feng said with a smile. "If you can use such methods to force us to sell Qingcheng International, why can't I ask you if you would sell your father? Similarly, if you are willing to sell your father, I might agree to sell Qingcheng International. If you aren't willing—then I think you can understand our refusal to sell it."
"It seems you've made your choice," the man said to Mr. Wang. "Three months later, prepare a million to acquire Qingcheng International."
Ren Feng sneered and said, "Dream on."
The man finally stood up from his chair, walked up to Ren Feng, stared into his eyes and said word by word, "We'll see."
Smack!
Ren Feng slapped him across the face.
"No need to wait, if there's a revenge to be taken, you can do it now." Ren Feng said bluntly.
He despised when people fail to act tough then start making threats, a task he believed only he could do right.
"You're asking for death." The man quickly responded, appearing to have years of taekwondo training. When suddenly slapped by Ren Feng, he organized a counterattack immediately.
A solid right hook aimed at Ren Feng's eye socket, intending to give him a black eye.
But the next moment, a thud—
The man's body retreated several steps, then knocked over a glass table and fell to the ground.
That was Ren Feng intentionally holding back, using less than one-thousandth of his strength; otherwise, the man's life would be questionable.
"Don't fight, Mr. Ren—Mr. Ren—talk it over, don't fight, fighting doesn't solve problems—" Mr. Wang stood to mediate the situation, fearing it would escalate and affect Cole Company's reputation.
"Don't—fight. NO, NO—" Ms. Lucy, a United States executive from Cole Company, spoke in both Huaxia Language and English, mediating from the middle.
"Ren Feng—Ren Feng—don't fight—you're a celebrity, keep up appearances—oh, nice kick—"
Bang—
The glass table slid on the ground for a while, then heavily hit the nearby bar.
The commotion here caught the attention of other employees and guests; everyone stopped talking or reading, looking up to this side.
The man covered his groin, opened his mouth, but forcibly refrained from making a sound.
He couldn't scream.
He was a man of status, couldn't afford the embarrassment.
Always the bully, never allowing others to know he was bullied.
"Hey, hey, stop." Liou Rumei shouted. "It's not good if someone gets hurt."
She crouched down looking at the man, asking, "Are you okay?"
"—"
"Do you want me to call an ambulance for you?"
"—"
Liou Rumei asked two questions consecutively and the man couldn't answer. So, she stood up, said to Mr. Wang, "Looks like he's not hurt and doesn't want to go to the hospital. Why don't you take him away?"
"This—"
"This gentleman is someone of status, surely he doesn't want people to know what happened today. Even if there's revenge, it's stabbing in the dark—isn't that right?" Liou Rumei cheerfully said to Mr. Wang.
Mr. Wang thought about it and considered her words reasonable. If word got out today, the man's reputation would be damaged. If he sought revenge, he wouldn't go to the police, but rather his father.
"Shall I—take him away?" Mr. Wang sought Ren Feng's opinion. He couldn't fathom how this young man could start a fight so abruptly.
Too violent!
"Go on," Ren Feng said, waving them away.
Thus, with Mr. Wang and Lucy's support, the man angrily and slowly moved away.
