Top-class Bodyguard
Chapter 1381 - 1357: The One Closest to the Second Step!
Ren Feng didn't check the situation of the Space Ring first. He stood up from the throne, and with a wave of both hands, the previously unconscious Sima Nan, along with the other Sword Pavilion experts, the Dragon Domain experts, and Elder Mu Han, were all lifted and flew over.
Then Ren Feng quickly walked to Long Yue's side. After sensing Long Yue's physical condition, he finally let out a breath of relief.
Most of those previous attacks had been blocked by that Copper Mirror, and on top of that Long Yue herself was wearing that red robe Magical Artifact, plus the Nine-Heart Sacred Lotus Seed Elder Mu Han had made her swallow—only then did she survive.
Even so, this could already be considered a miracle, because those moves were equivalent to the combined strike of more than a dozen Half-Saint Realm experts, while Long Yue's strength was only that of an ordinary Divine Realm cultivator.
Ren Feng carefully helped Long Yue sit up. Under his control, Spiritual Qi rapidly poured into her body, assisting her in clearing out her injuries.
Even like this, Long Yue's injuries would still require at least several months of quiet recuperation. But for Ren Feng, as long as she was still alive, he had ways to heal Long Yue.
At the very least, the herbs from the Ancient Era were in no short supply at all. In this entire relic land, there were far too many medicinal plants, countless heavenly materials and earthly treasures. As long as he refined some pills later, he could heal Long Yue's injuries.
Ren Feng even took out silver needles and used his Acupuncture Skill to help Long Yue invigorate blood and dispel stasis, opening up her meridians.
After that, he gently helped Long Yue with her treatment. He took out all those porcelain bottles from before, and chose two kinds of pills from them: one called Spirit God Calming Elixir and another called Earth Spirit Elixir. One was for healing injuries in the Soul Sea, and the other was for healing injuries of the body.
Although he had only inherited half of the Primordial Emperor's legacy and didn't know that terrifying Cultivation Technique and those moves of the Primordial Emperor, at the very least, he now knew the names of these pills, their various effects, and the methods to refine some small-grade pills. He knew all of that.
This half of the Primordial Emperor's legacy was mainly in terms of memory, including Alchemy and all kinds of knowledge, occasionally mixed with some minor Magic and combat techniques. Of course, without the corresponding Spell to drive them, it was still difficult to sustain.
After letting Long Yue take the pills, Ren Feng pressed his hands on Long Yue's body again. Surging True Qi and Spiritual Qi swept through to expel the injuries and residual energies inside her.
Only after a full ten minutes did Long Yue's eyelashes tremble slightly, and then she slowly opened her eyes.
Even so, Long Yue was still extremely weak.
"You're awake?"
Ren Feng said softly, gently stroking Long Yue's hair.
"I didn't die?" Long Yue asked in a low voice.
"I refused to let you die—Heaven itself wouldn't dare take you."
Long Yue forced out a smile, deathly pale.
"Next time we run into something like this, don't block it for me again, understand?"
Long Yue lightly shook her head. "If I don't block it, what will you do?"
"You not getting hurt is what matters most. I naturally have my own ways."
Ren Feng stroked Long Yue, his face full of pity.
Long Yue gave a soft "mm," and there seemed to be a hint of a smile in her eyes.
He carefully helped Long Yue over to that chair.
"I'll go check on Elder Mu Han and the others."
"Mm."
Ren Feng walked over to Sima Nan and the others again. Among them, some were already completely dead, but some still had faint breaths, and some were merely passed out.
He took out pills and fed them to those experts whose breathing was weak, then reached out and checked. Of these seven people, only three were still alive: one was Sima Nan, one was Elder Mu Han, and the last was an expert from the Dragon Domain.
He was not Long Su. Long Su and the other few had already all died in battle.
Looking at the corpses of those people, Ren Feng's eyes were full of complicated emotion. It was these people who had protected him, giving him enough time to absorb that power of inheritance; otherwise, he might have been directly forced off the throne.
No matter what, he owed them a favor.
Just then, the Thorny-winged Bird let out a sharp cry. Ren Feng raised his head and saw, not far away, two powerful figures flying over.
"You little bastard, you're not dead?"
Seeing Ren Feng, Han Buyan's eyes immediately showed joy, while Ban Tianzi, looking at all the corpses on the island, drew in a breath, his gaze somewhat shaken.
The two landed on the island. Ren Feng called out, "Old man, Senior Ban Tianzi."
Ren Feng wasn't surprised, because he was the one who had actively opened the entrance to the Thunderstorm Layer. Now this entire relic land was under his control, and naturally the Thunderstorm Layer was as well.
"As long as you're alive. I knew you brat would be fine." Han Buyan looked rather happy, while Ban Tianzi's gaze swept over the bodies lying on the ground and his expression changed drastically.
"Elder Mu Han had an accident too?"
He quickly flew over to Elder Mu Han and the others, and then discovered Long Yue leaning against the throne. Though weak, she was not in mortal danger, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
"What exactly happened?" Ban Tianzi looked at Ren Feng.
"It's a long story," Ren Feng began, "but the greatest treasure of this relic land isn't pills, isn't Magical Artifacts, nor anything else. It far exceeds our imagination."
"Then what is it?"
"The legacy of a Great Emperor from the Ancient Era."
"A Great Emperor's legacy?" Han Buyan was suddenly shocked. "No way—there's still a legacy like that around now?"
Ban Tianzi was stunned as well. "Where is that legacy?"
"The legacy is with me," Ren Feng said. "But I only absorbed half of it. The other half can't be absorbed for now, unless I can break through to the Second Step."
Ban Tianzi's expectant expression immediately turned helpless, and Han Buyan sighed. He patted Ren Feng's shoulder. "You little bastard, being able to obtain the legacy is already pretty good. As for breaking through to the Second Step, that's too hard."
Ren Feng was a bit confused, and Han Buyan said, "To break through to the Second Step, you must shatter that shackle. As far as I know, on Earth right now, not a single person has managed to break through. Crossing that threshold is too difficult."
"Impossible. To the Ancient Era, the Second Step seemed to be just entry level." Ren Feng said.
"Exactly—that was the Ancient Era. This is the modern age."
Ren Feng recalled what the Primordial Emperor had said before, and he fell silent. Then he asked, "There really isn't anyone?"
Han Buyan hesitated. "No. But right now there is one person who's the closest to the Second Step. He's gone through one shackle, but didn't completely shatter it—he's only equivalent to breaking half of it."
Ren Feng's eyes lit up at once. "Who is he?"
"In the forbidden land of the East Sea, there is a lineage passed down from the Ancient Era, the Demon Race, also called the Ancient Demon Race. He is the king of the Ancient Demon Race—the Demon King."
