Chapter 1376: Chapter 1376: Can’t Let My Wife Suffer

When the Mafia contacted Mason Nightshade, it was a golden opportunity.

Just as Aurelia Shaw had anticipated, the Mafia soon reached out to Mason Nightshade’s side.

Mason’s eyes were as dark as ice, his piercing gaze seemed to stab through the screen, ready to kill the person on the other side. The other party’s goal was indeed the research findings.

After the other party stated their demands, Mason couldn’t be bothered to say a single useless word, "Let me see her! Once I’m sure she’s safe, I’ll agree to your demands."

Vespera Bennett frowned and thought for a while, her questioning gaze turned to Ian Wang. Seeing Ian nod, she pushed open a door and pointed the camera at Aurelia.

"I say, can this be removed? It’s very heavy." Aurelia shook the iron chain on her wrist, then noticed Mason’s face on the screen and was momentarily stunned.

Mason’s pupils suddenly tightened but quickly returned to normal, as if it was just an illusion before.

"You’ve seen the person." Vespera turned off the camera.

"Turn the camera back on! I need to ensure that there are no scars on her body. She’s got sensitive skin, and scars will affect her work. If you leave even the tiniest scar on her, I won’t accept any of your demands!"

"Don’t forget, we’re the ones threatening you right now, you don’t have the right to negotiate."

"Oh, really? Your research progress hit a bottleneck, missing something only I have. If I refuse your demands, your years of research will all be in vain. Are you sure you’re the ones who have the right to negotiate?"

Vespera looked at Ian and, seeing his expression, understood.

Mason wasn’t lying.

After a mental struggle, Vespera turned the camera back on and pointed it at Aurelia once more.

Aurelia ignored Vespera’s warning gaze. Seeing Mason again, her heart softened into mush. It had only been a few days, and she realized she missed him.

She was used to watching over him as he slept.

Now unable to see his face, Aurelia couldn’t sleep well.

Deep dark circles appeared under her fair skin.

Mason’s heart ached, "Have they mistreated you?"

His tone was so chilling that if she said yes, he’d seem ready to take down the whole group’s lair.

"Meals are regular three times a day, with meat in every meal. I’ve visibly gained a bit around the waist. The environment here is quite poor, the freshly painted smell is awful, and this iron chain..." Aurelia shook her wrist, producing a "ding-dong" sound.

"It’s too heavy, a layer of skin has rubbed off my wrist."

"Remove the iron chains from her wrists immediately!" Mason’s angry order rang out.

Vespera rubbed her temples, wondering who was truly the hostage and who was really being threatened?

Seeing Ian’s signal with his eyes, Vespera unlocked the chains.

"And the ones on her ankles."

Vespera couldn’t hold back any longer, "I advise you to stop! The ankle ones cannot be removed!"

"With so many of you here, are you really afraid of one woman escaping?" Mason’s mocking tone was palpable even through the screen.

"You know yourself how cunning your own woman is! Let her go and she might be gone by tonight," Ian couldn’t help but burst out. Last time, she disappeared without a trace when they weren’t paying attention.

Though the young master helped her out.

Still, listening to the young master, even without his help, she could have escaped.

He’d never seen someone so cunning before.

After speaking, Ian abruptly shut his mouth, realizing he’d spoken out loud.

Mason’s lips twitched slightly, nearly imperceptibly.
