Chapter 1372: Chapter 1372: The Target Is Him

Vespera Bennett’s face twisted, but then she suddenly curved her lips into a smile.

"You think I don’t know you’re deliberately stalling? The cops will be here soon—do you really think I’ll let you wait that long?"

Vespera dragged Aurelia Shaw out. Because of the drugs, Aurelia’s whole body was limp and weak, she couldn’t muster any strength at all. She bit the tip of her tongue, trying to use the pain to keep herself conscious, but she just wasn’t as strong as Vespera.

Grayson Quinn kicked aside the people in front of him and frowned as he looked toward the door—how come he felt like he’d just seen someone who looked a lot like Aurelia?

After Grayson finished off the guys on his side, he found Mason Nightshade. "I think I just saw Aurelia."

He wasn’t sure, but if it really was Aurelia, she could be in danger in a place like this. Aurelia might be good at fighting, but the Mafia were full of tricks, impossible to guard against. If there really was danger, that’d be bad.

Mason’s expression suddenly went ice-cold, his gaze sweeping the surroundings. "Where did you see her?"

"She left with some woman, probably a bodyguard of hers. Don’t get worked up yet, it might not be the Mafia." Even as he said it, Grayson’s brows drew together.

The Mafia’s target was Mason. Grabbing Aurelia to threaten him was the best move. Even though Mason had been acting cold toward Aurelia these days, what if someone on the Mafia’s side had picked up on that?

Mason strode quickly toward the exit.

But Aurelia had already been taken away for a while now; there was no sign of the two of them outside anymore.

"Mason, don’t panic yet. It might not be as bad as we think—maybe Aurelia just happened to be here grabbing a bite?" Grayson finished dealing with things inside and ran out after him. This outcome didn’t surprise him. "Even if it really was the Mafia who took her, their target is you. Before they use her to threaten you, Aurelia won’t be hurt."

Mason’s head was pounding. He pressed hard at his temples, pulled out his phone, and dialed Amanda Fuller.

He didn’t have Aurelia’s mobile number; he could only contact Amanda Fuller.

Grayson saw him standing unsteadily and worried his old ailment was about to flare up.

"Beep, beep..."

The phone rang twice and someone picked up.

Amanda Fuller’s voice sounded surprised and excited. "Mr. Nightshade, you suddenly calling me—does something happen?"

"Do you have Aurelia’s number?"

Silence on the other end.

"No need to tell me. Just call her right now. If she doesn’t pick up, keep calling. If it gets through, let me know immediately."

"Mr. Nightshade, did something happen to Aurelia?" Amanda wasn’t stupid; from Mason’s tone it sounded like something extremely dangerous had happened.

But what could possibly happen to Aurelia?

"Just make the call first. Tell me if you hear anything."

"Okay."

As soon as Amanda hung up with Mason, she obediently dialed Aurelia’s number. The phone rang and rang, but no one answered.

Meanwhile, in the car.

The phone was buzzing nonstop. Vespera pulled Aurelia’s phone out of her pocket and glanced at the caller ID.

The man in front turned back to look. Ian Wang’s face was covered in bruises, and there was a bullet wound through his arm. As he wrapped a bandage around it, he said in a low voice, "Destroy her phone. This thing could have a tracking setup."

"Mason doesn’t even know her number, how’s he supposed to install a tracker on her phone? Didn’t Brother Cheng..." Sensing Ian Wang’s threatening gaze, Vespera shut her mouth. "Look at you all, scared out of your minds. Sure, the girl’s got some tricks, but there are so many of you—what are you afraid of from one little girl?"

After powering the phone off, Vespera tossed it out the window.
