Chapter 1367: Chapter 1367: I’ll Take Responsibility

Seeing that she wasn’t really hurt, Mason Nightshade quietly pulled his gaze back.

"I’ve never seen someone hit a person and still act this cocky. At this point even a random blade of grass dares lecture you. Don’t you think you should reflect on yourself a bit?"

Grayson Quinn almost wanted to kneel to Mason’s venomous mouth. Reflect? What was she supposed to reflect on? As far as she was concerned, after you hit someone you were supposed to get cocky, not let people step all over you for free.

Maybe Mason spoils women a little too much.

Then again, has there ever been a day he didn’t over‑spoil them?

If there really was a day he suddenly stopped, that’s when he’d start thinking something was wrong with him.

Aurelia Shaw frowned. Mason had broken up with her, so him siding with this woman now was perfectly normal, but it still made her feel uncomfortable.

"Once the car’s fixed, send me the bill and I’ll transfer the money to you." Aurelia said to Grayson, then went back to her own car, only to find it wouldn’t start.

Mason shot Grayson a look.

Grayson instantly got it, thinking he was basically becoming Mason’s little lackey. "Car’s busted? Where are you headed? I can give you a ride if you want."

"It’s not convenient."

It really wasn’t convenient. Alaric Wood’s place was considered private to them; if Mason found out, Grayson figured the man in Aurelia’s car would immediately launch a missile, blow up the house with the people inside, and drag her back home.

"I can at least drop you somewhere you can catch a cab, or you can have someone come pick you up. You won’t get a taxi out here at this hour."

Grayson was right. Aurelia hesitated for a moment, glanced again at the man in the backseat, then decisively headed toward the car parked in front.

"Hey, hey!" Grayson blocked her. "The car up front’s already full."

Aurelia narrowed her eyes. "I saw only one person in there."

Sarah stuck her head out. "Master Quinn, there are plenty of seats in here, we can still fit one more person."

The man she hadn’t gotten yet—she couldn’t let this woman get him first. Aurelia’s looks made Sarah feel extremely threatened. She believed this was the kind of crisis every woman would feel.

This woman... Grayson thought to himself, a chill flashing in his fox‑like eyes. He signaled the bodyguards with his gaze and said, "The car in front is for the bodyguards. Are you sure you want to squeeze into a car full of big burly guys reeking of sweat?"

The image popped into Aurelia’s head and her delicate brows furrowed.

Grayson’s lips curled in a smile, knowing his little scheme had worked. He opened the back door, but Aurelia slid into the passenger seat instead.

He shot Mason a look; Mason responded with a look that told him to drive.

"Mason, that injury you got last time was pretty serious. You haven’t had a chance to rest these days—your wound hasn’t split open, has it?" Grayson’s voice suddenly broke the quiet inside the car.

"Mm, no." Mason knew exactly what Grayson was trying to pull and played along.

Aurelia tilted her head, looking out the window, the corner of her mouth flashing with a quick hint of a smile. She watched Mason on the surveillance footage every night; he’d only gotten a few minor scrapes, no major injuries. Where was this "wound splitting open" supposed to come from?

Grayson’s tactic was way too childish.

Grayson kept asking Mason about his injuries and reminding him to be careful.

Mason only listened to Aurelia; everyone else’s words went in one ear and out the other. Be careful? He’d only ever let that pass straight through his head.

Grayson rattled on for ages, then checked Aurelia’s expression, only to see her looking perfectly calm, eyes half‑closed, actually on the verge of falling asleep.

He almost coughed up blood from sheer frustration.

Was it easy, doing all this for these two? One of them was lukewarm as hell, the other completely heartless. They were wasting his good intentions way too much...

Aurelia casually gave an address. The car pulled over, and she got out. She waved at Grayson. "Don’t forget to send me the repair bill. I’ll cover it."
