Chapter 1365: Chapter 1365: In This World, Anyone Who Isn’t Blind Knows She’s Your Weakness
Grayson Quinn’s scalp tingled; he’d finally been scared into submission by her. "I was wrong, I was wrong, okay? Don’t go complaining to Mason, and you probably don’t want to talk to him anyway, right? You two are just..."
Grayson suddenly cut himself off. "How’d you end up upstairs? Don’t tell me you heard Mason was having a meeting up here and specially came up because you wanted to see him?"
"Do I look that bored to you?"
Aurelia Shaw paused, then added, "Stephen asked me to come. I just didn’t expect you guys to be here too."
Grayson knit his brows, face full of contemplation.
Just then, the secretary came in with tea, her shapely figure wrapped in a crisp professional outfit. She set the coffee down in front of Mason Nightshade, stole a shy glance at him, then quickly looked away.
"Sarah, stay and take the minutes." Just as the secretary was about to leave, Stephen spoke up.
Sarah’s face flushed red as she pulled out the chair next to Mason and sat down, heart pounding like a drum.
Grayson curved his lips into a grin and teased, "I called you over just now and you wouldn’t come. Now someone’s beaten you to it, huh?"
The noise made Aurelia’s ears ache; she snapped on instinct, "Shut up!"
Her voice wasn’t quiet; everyone turned to look at her.
"Sorry," Aurelia apologized.
Stephen chuckled. "I’d originally scheduled to meet with you, but I didn’t expect this whole... situation. Can you wait for me a bit?"
Aurelia gave a small nod.
Grayson, however, quietly narrowed his foxy eyes.
Half an hour later, everyone filed out of the conference room.
Grayson shot a glance at the woman trailing right behind Mason, and let out a cold snort. "Stephen did that on purpose. Sounds nice, saying he’s assigning a secretary to help you with work, but in reality she’s here to keep an eye on you.
He called Aurelia over today too.
What’s this old fox trying to pull? He shouldn’t know what you and Aurelia are to each other, right?"
"Might not be just him," Mason said blandly. "Could also be the people behind him."
"You think... Stephen’s connected to the Mafia?"
"Could be. Go dig into it."
"So I’m not going to Antarctica anymore."
Mason paused for a beat, then added the rest of the sentence.
Grayson was momentarily stunned.
Because he’d fished out the fact that Stephen had asked Aurelia to come? Fuck... this guy’s really ready to ditch his brother the second he sees a pretty face, huh?
Aurelia came back from the restroom and saw Grayson and Mason by the elevators; her gaze swept over the woman beside them.
Grayson curved his lips and beckoned to Aurelia, a sly smile on his face like a fox.
Once she was far enough away, Grayson lowered his voice and asked Mason, "You’re keeping this woman by your side—aren’t you worried she’ll get jealous?"
"If only she could get jealous," Mason said.
He let out a rough-edged laugh.
He was afraid she wouldn’t even bother to be jealous.
When that girl hardens her heart, she can cut everyone off. He was genuinely a bit worried that in just these few days she’d already managed to completely let him go.
"Her staying away from me is safer for her. When even this place can have eyes planted in it, who knows how many will be around me. If the Mafia ever figures out she’s my weak spot, things will get really dangerous for her."
"In this world, as long as you’re not blind, who doesn’t know she’s your weak spot?" Grayson shot back without thinking.
Mason’s brows drew together. "Arrange some people around her. Do it discreetly. Don’t let the person by her side notice."
Sighing inwardly, Grayson felt Mason had to be the unluckiest guy alive.
Got ’cheated on,’ and still has to secretly assign people to protect her.
In the conference room, Aurelia quickly finished signing the contract with Stephen. While she waited for the elevator, her brows pinched together; something felt off.
From start to finish, the contract had taken less than ten minutes to sign, but she’d been there for over half an hour. It seemed Stephen hadn’t called her over just to sign a contract.
