Chapter 1330: Chapter 1330: Who Says I Need to Contact Him?
Junia Simpson left, Vespera Bennett breathed a sigh of relief.
"Aurelia, I..." Vespera wanted to thank Aurelia Shaw.
Aurelia Shaw unfolded the note in her hand.
Vespera had just stuffed it into her hand, whispering a name in her ear—"Alaric Wood."
Vespera actually knew Alaric Wood.
Vespera is part of the Mafia; if Alaric knows her, does that mean Alaric is too... This thought barely emerged before Aurelia rejected it.
The Mafia appeared sixteen years ago; at that time, Alaric was just a child like her, trapped in the Mafia’s underground prison.
There, they endured inhuman torture. Given Alaric’s hatred for the Mafia, he would never become one of them.
Aurelia’s mind flashed with the image of Alaric in the laboratory.
He was different from the Alaric she remembered from childhood.
The young Alaric had been cold to others, yet gentle, keeping her company when she was scared, comforting her the whole night saying, "Don’t be afraid, I’ll protect you." But later...
Aurelia didn’t want to continue thinking, she shut her eyes forcefully.
Alaric becoming what he is now had an unbreakable connection to her.
"Little Ferry, come back."
The note contained just this one sentence.
Last time, Alaric had called her Little Ferry too.
But she had no recollection of this name.
Is there something wrong with her brain?
Aurelia pressed down on her aching forehead, jumped off the bed, and in a few steps stood before Vespera, "What’s your relationship with Alaric Wood?"
Vespera was forced to retreat a step, her expression stunned.
She hadn’t expected Aurelia to know Alaric Wood.
Judging by appearances, the two were quite familiar.
How did she come to know Alaric?
Vespera, although curious, did not truly want to know; curiosity killed the cat, especially someone like Alaric.
"You needn’t know about this, Alaric asked me to give this to you." Vespera glanced at the note in Aurelia’s hand; in fact, she didn’t know what was written on the note.
Alaric had warned her that if she dared to open and look, he’d gouge out her eyes.
She didn’t doubt that Alaric said this to scare her.
He truly could follow through.
"Although I don’t know what your relationship with Brother Wood is, I want to get out," Vespera said, "If you obstruct me, I still won’t go easy on you."
Aurelia raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly, "Just now you needed my protection, and now you’re turning your back on me?"
"If you want to contact Brother Wood, you can only do so through me..."
"Who said I need to contact him?"
Aurelia interrupted Vespera.
Vespera hesitated, "You don’t want to go out?"
Aurelia’s gaze towards Vespera cooled; Vespera knew even more than she imagined, despite being imprisoned so long, her channels of information were numerous.
Was she truly caught and brought in?
Or did the Mafia intentionally arrange for her to become an insider?
"Did I ever say I wanted to go out?" Aurelia countered.
Vespera pursed her lips; indeed, she hadn’t said so.
But who doesn’t want to get out of here?
She didn’t believe she truly didn’t want to.
"Next time Junia Simpson decides to come after you, I won’t be able to protect you; you’ll have to find a way to cope yourself." Aurelia finished speaking and returned to her bed, her brow knitted tightly, staring at the note in her hand.
Her head seemed to hurt again.
There were so many questions she wanted to ask Alaric.
After that day, Aurelia didn’t see Mason Nightshade again.
Mason Nightshade didn’t come looking for her again.
The divorce proceedings would be handled by Adrian Cooper.
She only needed to wait for the two to be sentenced to divorce, just like waiting for the day of execution to arrive.
