Chapter 94 A different Rose II
Chapter 94: Chapter 94 A different Rose II
Noah finally released Rose’s arm as they reached the deserted upper floor, and she gasped dramatically, rubbing her wrist with exaggerated pain.
"Ouch! You’re strong as hell, fuck. I didn’t know those hands that look almost like twigs could actually hurt. Good one," she laughed, her voice dripping with mockery.
Noah stood motionless, his expression blank as he studied her carefully. Something was terribly wrong. This wasn’t Rose—not the Rose he knew, not the Rose who cared about her friends and laughed genuinely. Her posture was different, her mannerisms alien, and there was something else bothering him.
A strange scent clung to her, something dark and unfamiliar that made his instincts scream warnings.
"What happened to you, Rose?" Noah asked, his voice low and controlled. "I know this isn’t you. Why are you talking this way? Why are you acting like a completely different person?"
He took a cautious step forward, but Rose erupted into laughter—cold, mocking, and entirely devoid of warmth.
"Oh dear, I can hear the alphas calling your name from down there. Shouldn’t you go running to them? You’ve got them wrapped around your little fingers, especially after fucking both of them so thoroughly."
Noah stumbled backward, the blow of her words hitting him like a physical force. His eyes widened in shock and horror.
"That’s not possible. How do you know about that?" His voice cracked with disbelief. What happened at his lodge was supposed to be private, a secret shared only between him and the alphas. Unless someone had been spying on him, which was unthinkable.
Rose continued laughing at his obvious distress, clearly enjoying his discomfort.
"Are you stupid or just dumb? You obviously smell like them," she taunted, gesturing toward his neck. "Anywhere you go, people will know exactly what you’ve been doing. And that mark I can see on your neck—it means one of them has claimed you, hasn’t they? Marked you as their own."
Noah instinctively reached up, touching his neck where a sharp pang of pain radiated. His fingers brushed against something tender, something he hadn’t noticed before. He had been marked without his knowledge? Without anyone telling him? When had this happened?
"Stop trying to confuse me," Noah yelled back, his voice rising with frustration. "This is my business, my life. Mind your own damn business."
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, before continuing, "I know you have a clue where Lamia is. You obviously know something, so tell me right now, Rose. Where is he?"
This was supposed to be a serious conversation, but Rose seemed utterly incapable of taking anything seriously. She stood with her arms akimbo, pinching her nose as if she smelled something offensive.
"So Ashton—or should I say Noah Evernight? Well, Noah, is this the care you showed when Lamia called for your help? When he needed you the most? Instead of being there for him, you went off and started fucking men who hated you before. Classic whore behavior, isn’t it?" Her words dripped with venom.
Noah’s palms clenched into tight fists, his knuckles whitening with rage. Each word hit him like a dagger, cutting deeper than he wanted to admit.
"What is it with you teenagers?" Rose continued relentlessly. "Just fucking use your brain for once. What do you see in those alphas? They’re hot, sure, but as a poor omega, do you really think you stand a chance? Now that the Emperor is here, the main person will be taken, and you—the one who was used—will be discarded like the dirt bag you truly are."
Noah was breathing heavily now, his chest heaving with barely contained fury.
"You don’t know them! You can’t judge them like that!" he shouted, his voice raw with emotion. "They’re sweet. I’ve been with the alphas, and I can tell you they’ve been misunderstood this whole time. You’re not going to make me leave them. Never."
Rose scoffed loudly, rolling her eyes. "Really? With how many weeks have you actually known them? Did you ask what happens to omegas like you at the Empire? At this academy? What about Ashton—wasn’t he abused to the point of breaking? So technically, you’re fucking an abuser."
She threw another verbal punch, and Noah felt his resolve crumbling.
"Poor Lamia just made the worst choice of friends," Rose pressed on, circling him like a predator. "A selfish bitch who cares only about himself—that’s what you are. Maybe in your next life, you’ll learn never to trust handsome alpha horndogs in pants. But it’s too late for that now."
Without warning, she materialized behind him, faster than any human should be able to move. Before Noah could react, she drove a dagger deep into his neck, slashing through his windpipe with brutal precision.
Noah staggered, gasping desperately for air that refused to come. His hands flew to his throat, feeling the warm gush of blood pouring through his fingers. He stumbled, his vision swimming as his body began to fail him.
Rose stared down at him, watching his trembling form collapse to the floor with cold satisfaction.
"You’re the pureblood, aren’t you?" she said calmly, as if discussing the weather. "But judging by the way you’re dying right now, you’re not yet immortal. Which means I can kill you."
She crouched down, getting eye level with his fading gaze. "Rose—poor, pathetic Rose—was so worried about you. Thinking about where you were, if you were safe. For real, I don’t know what they saw in you because all her thoughts were consumed by you and Lamia. That nigga was outright powerful, trying to bring you safety, which I simply couldn’t allow."
Her voice turned colder, more sinister. "You all here are going to ruin my plans. So Lamia was taken to the Forbidden Forest, where the monsters live. Get this through your dying head—he must have died already."
Noah jerked violently at her words, his body convulsing as he fought desperately to survive.
"Lamia... No!" The words came out as a gurgled whisper, barely audible.
Rose stood up, brushing off her clothes as if she had just completed a mundane task. "See where your stupidity has landed you? Why didn’t you just leave me alone? Did you have to come and make me bring you here to tell you where Lamia was? You could have walked away and maybe lived a second longer. But I guess with you gone, pulling down the alphas and the Emperor will be so much easier. Today will be a good day."
She giggled, a sound that was utterly inhuman, as Noah’s eyes began to lose their spark. His vision was darkening, the world fading to black around the edges.
"Never would I let a pureblood ruin my years of planning," Rose declared, turning her back on him. "That’s never going to happen in my life. And you think you could just kill me? Well, this is my payback. Karma is a bitch, after all. The universe really wants me to clear out every punk-ass alpha there is. Omegas have suffered enough, and this evil school will fall today."
She watched his last breath escape his lips, his eyes remaining open and fixed on nothing. His throat was torn open, blood pooling around his body like a dark crimson halo. Satisfied, Rose walked away, her footsteps echoing down the corridor until they faded completely.
For a full minute, Noah’s lifeless body lay motionless on the cold floor. Then, something impossible began to happen.
The blood surrounding him started to move, flowing backward as if being sucked away by an invisible force. It gathered at his neck, the torn flesh slowly knitting itself back together. The gash in his throat repaired itself with unnatural speed, muscles and skin reconnecting in a grotesque display of regeneration.
Noah gasped suddenly, his body jerking as life flooded back into him. His lungs burned fiercely, his entire body feeling like it was on fire from the inside out. Every organ screamed in protest as his blood pumped vigorously through newly restored veins.
He staggered to his feet, desperately searching for water to ease the burning sensation in his throat. His balance wavered dangerously as he stumbled toward the staircase, barely able to stay upright.
Just as he was about to tumble over the edge of the highest floor, a strong hand shot out, grabbing his arm and yanking him back to safety. Noah fell forward, his head landing against a solid chest before he vomited a mouthful of dark blood and collapsed into unconsciousness once more.
But this time, his chest rose and fell steadily. His heart beat strong and true. He was alive.
"Good to see you in my arms again, darling," a deep voice murmured, cradling Noah’s limp body. "Let’s end them all."
