Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Teaching her a lesson.

Entering the office, all of them met a tension so thick it looked like it was about to swallow them all.

In the middle sat Mrs. Danielle with two other women. One of them felt familiar to Noah, which made him deeply uncomfortable. It was the same woman he had met at the special facility that handled his weird pheromones. By their faces, Noah could tell they had been in the middle of a discussion, which paused immediately when he entered.

Tabitha, the familiar woman, looked at Noah with an intense gaze that made him want to disappear. Those eyes told him she knew more than she was letting on, and he wasn’t fond of that at all.

He hated people like that with a passion—those who knew things but held back, ready to use their knowledge to their advantage when it served their purpose. His instincts were screaming that the time was now. Noah was going to be in trouble, and it wasn’t connected to whatever Sylvia had said in the afternoon.

"Welcome, Ashton Lane. Sit down." Noah didn’t hesitate to sit. He wasn’t in the mood to stand for long, so he positioned himself on one of the chairs lined up right in front of Mrs. Danielle and Tabitha.

Right on cue, the others arrived—the Moonlight Alphas—coming one by one. Instead of sitting, they all stood right behind Noah like bodyguards, as if ready to protect him from whatever was happening in the office.

Soon after, Sylvia came in with Rose behind her and Lamia as well. If it hadn’t been Danielle’s office, they might have fought already. The scene was thick with tension that felt almost consuming.

Pheromones hung high in the air, almost choking Noah. He knew they belonged to the alphas around him, and it disturbed him greatly. He didn’t know why it attacked him mentally or tried pulling him down, but he was almost gasping for breath where he sat.

"Calm down, you four. Your pheromones reek all around here. There are omegas present, and you don’t want to put them in heat—especially not in the midst of a disaster. Noah isn’t going to be in any danger or expelled, so this is something else." As if she had spoken magic words, the air immediately cleared and turned almost pure.

Noah looked at Danielle in disbelief, not quite understanding what she meant. Wasn’t the reason he was here because of Sylvia’s words? Oh fuck, he wasn’t going to join them to fight the monsters, right? But with Tabitha here, staring at him like he was some kind of alien reincarnation, it told him otherwise.

"If you have pardoned him, why then is he here?" Damian asked, his voice turning aggressive. Danielle smirked in response.

"I might work here, but that doesn’t mean you will disrespect me. Watch your tone, young man. Have you forgotten I am affiliated with all of your parents? I can easily write them letters, and all your luxury would come crumbling down." Damian’s face tightened. He seemed to be weighing whether pissing off Mrs. Danielle was worth it, but he stayed silent afterward, which said a lot.

"You know, this confidence was what got Mrs. Marie Langford killed. Wasn’t she the one who refused to offer curfew? And right in front of us, she got torn apart." Killian’s eyes carried dark vibes, like he wasn’t speaking to someone of value. His tone suggested Mrs. Marie was nothing but trash to him. His hand rested on Noah’s shoulder as he stood there talking.

Danielle and Tabitha both noticed the gesture. It was a clear hint that they shouldn’t do anything wrong—Ashton was under their protection, and any mistake would mean the same fate as Mrs. Marie.

"That tone, oh Killian. I have never seen this side of you because you have been so quiet. Who brought it out? Was it Noah? And if I’m not mistaken, with the way you’re being so direct, it seems you know who the monster might be." Killian didn’t smile or giggle like others who were evil might. He simply shrugged.

"You’re the boss here. Why don’t you figure that out, unless you aren’t competent enough?" Danielle immediately slammed her hands on the table in rage. Killian’s comments had gotten to her, and she was fuming, her face showing it clearly.

Sylvia, seeing how their attention stayed on Noah, noted that every alpha was trying to make sure he was safe. Their main priority was him not being punished, and it made Noah almost want to tear something apart or rip his own head off in frustration.

"But ma, I said I saw him transforming into a monster, didn’t I? So do something—expel him." Before she could finish the words, she began losing her breath. She jerked wildly, like she was being paralyzed from within.

Blood oozed from her nose like a tap. Rose and Lamia shifted, looking baffled.

"What is going on?" They murmured in horror. It grew worse as Sylvia began floating in the air. Her head jerked backward, her back arching painfully, her fingers curving unnaturally. Her bones cracked audibly while her breathing grew labored.

"I’m sorry, I can’t breathe," Sylvia begged. The two horrified staff members stood up and rushed toward Damian to make him stop.

"Damian, don’t do this. You’re going to kill her." At that moment, Noah realized it was him. That’s right—he had blood affinity. Right now, with the way Sylvia looked, he was boiling her blood from the inside, and she was suffocating to death.

He wasn’t feeling bad for her. It was the same thing that would have happened to him if he had been expelled. In a way, he was doing her a favor by getting rid of her before she caused more problems. Soon enough, she would become a huge issue anyway.

Lamia and Rose didn’t move from their spots. Instead, they stared with more fascination than horror.

"Damian, if she dies, the emperor would go mad, and we can’t enrage the emperor. We don’t want that." Eugene spoke up for Sylvia, and Marcus joined in too. But Killian stood there without any care, almost like she deserved it. He clearly thought she was at fault.

When her body was about to go limp, Damian threw her aside. She landed uselessly against the nearby wall, almost knocked out cold, but surprisingly she didn’t pass out.

"This is my last warning. Anything done against Ashton would warrant instant death without blinking." His tone carried a dark finality, and Killian grinned, clearly amused by the comment.

Tabitha went to check on Sylvia while Danielle decided to move on with why she had called them all together before they killed each other.

"You all are the ones protecting the school tonight from the monsters—no questions asked. If my memory serves me right, I’m hearing rumors you might have a grave affinity. This is perfect for those undead creatures. So you’re going there with your men, since they look like yours now. And you two..." She pointed at Rose and Lamia.

"Also follow them. Tomorrow morning we will follow this up properly, but first of all, we must survive through this night." They all nodded, but Damian, who suddenly seemed extra protective, clicked his tongue, clearly not satisfied.

"Noah isn’t coming. I won’t let him be put in danger." As he said that, Noah’s eyes widened. Since when had they turned into his mouthpiece? He wasn’t going to just sit back while they battled monsters from different realms. His mind wouldn’t be at peace.

"He is going. You’re not convincing me otherwise, so this is official." She was about to return to her seat when Damian angrily lifted his hand to strike, but Noah’s voice stopped him.

"I want to go. You people aren’t leaving me alone. I am not useless and won’t allow myself to remain in the shadows." He would have loved to stay in the shadows until he figured things out, but this wasn’t the right time—especially with the danger all around.

"Yes, Damian, I am going. I am not a damsel in distress, so stop making me look like one." Damian stopped. He fought the urge to disagree because he didn’t want Noah to go, and it showed on his face. But he wasn’t about to let his friends face it alone.

"Fine. You would go, but we aren’t letting you out of our sight." For once, it seemed Killian nodded in agreement.

Danielle sighed. She hoped their constant watch over Noah wouldn’t distract them from the mission.

"Sylvia is coming with us. Injured or not, she’s battling this monster." Killian deadpanned.
