Chapter 163 Dr Whitmore!
Chapter 163: Chapter 163 Dr Whitmore!
Noah’s head was spinning. The man carrying him walked fast, like he owned every hallway he stepped into. Noah wanted to push away, to demand answers, but his body felt like wet paper. The blood loss had drained him, and the smell of the man’s chest—something warm and woodsy—made his eyes heavy.
"You need to stay awake," the man said. His voice was deep,Commanding, Just like Damian’s at the early times.
Noah forced his eyes open. "Who are you?"
The man looked down at him. For a second, something passed through those gray eyes. Something that made Noah’s chest ache.
"I’m Dr. Whitmore," he said. "I was called in when you started panicking."
"Whitmore." Noah tasted the name. "Damian Whitmore?"
The man’s steps slowed. Just for a heartbeat. "Yes. How do you know my name?"
Noah’s heart slammed against his ribs. This couldn’t be happening. Damian was from another world. A world of supernaturals, Of magic and monsters. He couldn’t just exist here, not in Noah’s real life.
Unless...
"You caught me," Noah whispered. "Before I hit the ground. When the truck—"
Dr. Whitmore’s face stayed blank. But his arms tightened around Noah. Just a little. "You were in an accident and fortunately i was nearby."
"That’s not what I mean." Noah’s voice cracked. "You caught me. But you were also..." He couldn’t finish. How could he explain that this man had been his mate in another life? That they had fought demons together? That they had slept on the same bed and shared something words couldn’t hold?
Dr. Whitmore carried him into a room and laid him on a bed. Nurses rushed in, but the doctor raised one hand. They stopped.
"Give us a minute," he said.
The nurses looked at each other but left. The door clicked shut. Noah was alone with the man who wore Damian’s face.
"Now," Dr. Whitmore said, pulling up a stool. "Tell me what’s really going on."
Noah stared. Same sharp jaw, same broad shoulders, maybe different eyes_the once blue ones, was now gray eyes that had once looked at him like he was the center of the universe, But different too. This man’s hair was shorter. His back was straighter. He didn’t have that wild, untamed fire that Damian always carried.
"You’re not him," Noah said. His voice came out hollow. "You’re not Damian."
The doctor tilted his head. "I told you. I’m Dr. Whitmore."
"Damian Whitmore."
"Yes?"
Noah laughed. It came out broken. "This is insane. I’m losing my mind."
Dr. Whitmore took his wrist. Checked his pulse. His touch was cold. Clinical. But the second his fingers touched Noah’s skin, lightning shot through Noah’s whole body. The doctor felt it too. His eyes went wide. But he said nothing.
"Your pulse is high," he said. "That’s normal. You hit your head. Lost blood. Your body’s been through hell."
"You don’t get it." Noah pulled his wrist back. "I was somewhere else. Another world. Another life. There were people there. People I—" He stopped. His throat closed up.
"Dreams feel real sometimes," Dr. Whitmore said. "Especially after trauma."
"They weren’t dreams!" Noah’s voice broke. "They were real. All of it. The demons. The witches. The creatures and your curse..The—" He stopped again. He sounded crazy. How could he explain the Book of Shadows? The Heavenly Sword? The fact that he had been living in someone else’s body?
Dr. Whitmore watched him for a long time. Then he reached into his pocket. Pulled out a small notebook.
"Tell me about these people," he said. "The ones who mattered."
Noah blinked. "What?"
"Humor me." The doctor’s voice was calm. Soft. "Sometimes talking helps. Real or not."
Noah hesitated. But something in those gray eyes—something safe and warm—made him want to talk. Made him want to trust this stranger who looked like his mate.
"There was Damian," Noah started. His voice was quiet. "He was... he was everything, Strong, Protective. So damn cute. He looked at me like I was the most important person in the world. Even when he was being a jerk earlier on."
Dr. Whitmore’s pen moved. "Go on."
"Eugene,Killian,Marcus." Noah’s voice got softer. "They were all..."
He stopped. His chest hurt. Like someone had reached inside and squeezed his heart.
"They were my mates," he whispered. "All of them. In that world, I had four mates. Four men who loved me. Who fought for me. Who would have died for me."
Dr. Whitmore’s pen stopped. He looked up. His gray eyes were unreadable.
"Four mates?" he repeated.
Noah nodded. His eyes burned. "And Lysander. He was... he was different. Complicated. But he mattered too so much. And Lamia, and Rose, and Oliver. They were all my friends the real ones I have ever made all my life, especially Lamia and Rose."
"These names," Dr. Whitmore said slowly. "They mean something to you."
"They mean everything." Noah’s voice shook. "I can’t just forget them. I can’t just go back to my old life like they never existed."
He looked down at his hands, His real hands. The supposed hands of Noah Evernight. Rich, Powerful and Empty.
"I had everything here," he said. "Money. Cars,Clothes. A name that opens every door. But none of it matters, Because they’re not here."
Dr. Whitmore closed his notebook. He didn’t say anything for a long moment.
Then he asked, "What do you want?"
Noah looked up. His eyes met the doctor’s. "I want to go back."
"Back to the danger? Back to the so called demons?"
"Yes." Noah’s voice was steady. "Because that world had them. And this one doesn’t."
Dr. Whitmore leaned back. His face was still blank. But something in his eyes shifted. Something that looked almost like respect.
"You love them," he said. It wasn’t a question.
"Yes." Noah’s voice cracked. "I love them. All of them. And I didn’t even get to say goodbye, it’s not fair"
The room went quiet. Noah could hear his own heartbeat. So loud now.
Then Dr. Whitmore did something strange. He reached out. Took Noah’s hand, His grip was warm, Strong and deeply Familiar.
"Then maybe," he said quietly, "you’re not as crazy as you think."
Noah stared at him. "What?"
"I don’t know how to explain it." Dr. Whitmore’s brow furrowed. "But when I saw you falling... something in me moved. Something I can’t name. I caught you without thinking. Like my body knew you before my mind did."
Noah’s breath caught. "You felt it too."
"I don’t know what I felt." The doctor pulled his hand back. "But I know you’re not lying. And I know you’re not insane as others might think."
He stood up. Walked to the door. Then stopped.
"Rest," he said. "Your body needs it. We’ll talk more later."
"Wait." Noah pushed himself up. "What’s your first name? Your real first name?"
The doctor turned. For a moment, he looked like Damian. Not the Damian from the other world. But a version of him, A version that existed here.
"Damian," he said. "My name is Damian Whitmore."
Then he walked out.
Noah sat there. His heart pounded. His head hurt,His arm still bled. But for the first time since waking up, he felt something other than fear.
Hope.
Maybe he wasn’t stuck here. Maybe there was a way back. Maybe the people he loved weren’t lost forever.
"I’ll find you," he whispered. "All of you. I don’t care what it takes."
He closed his eyes. The blood loss pulled him under. But even as he slipped into darkness,he held onto one thought.
Damian was here. In this world. And if Damian existed here, then maybe—just maybe—the others did too.
Evelyn burst through the door a second later. She saw Noah passed out on the bed. His arm still bleeding. His face pale.
"Where’s the doctor?" she snapped at the nurses. "Someone help him!"
Dr. Whitmore reappeared. He walked past Evelyn without a word. Went straight to Noah’s side. Checked his pulse. His breathing.
"He’ll be fine," he said. "He just needs rest."
Evelyn watched him. Her eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
"Dr. Whitmore."
"I’ve never seen you before."
"I’m new."
Evelyn crossed her arms. "You carried my brother. Like he weighed nothing."
"I’m strong and he is weak, what am I supposed to do fall with him?" She didn’t answer that but probed more.
"You looked at him like you knew him."
Dr. Whitmore didn’t answer also. He just adjusted Noah’s IV. Checked the bandage on his head.
"He’s special," Evelyn said quietly. "My brother. He’s been through a lot. And I don’t know what happened to him in that accident, but he’s different now."
Dr. Whitmore paused. His hand rested on Noah’s forehead. "Different how?"
"He talks about people who don’t exist. Worlds that aren’t real. He thinks he’s someone else." Evelyn’s voice cracked. "I’m scared I’m losing him."
Dr. Whitmore looked down at Noah. At his red hair, His sharp face that were now peaceful and his closed eyes.
"You’re not losing him," he said. "He’s just... remembering."
"Remembering what?"
"Something important." Dr. Whitmore pulled his hand back. "Something worth holding onto."
Evelyn frowned. "What does that mean?"
But Dr. Whitmore was already walking away. His footsteps echoed in the hall. And in his chest, something stirred, Something he couldn’t name and the exact thing that felt more passionate that he can’t explain where it came from.
