Chapter 147: Chapter 147 Now open!!
Lamia and Rose followed Noah immediately, intending to talk him out of his decision. It was still very early in the morning. Noah was supposed to eat breakfast, rest, and do the normal morning activities before even thinking about training. He had barely recovered from everything that happened during the night, and now he wanted to throw himself into dangerous magical training as though his life depended on it. Which, in a way, it did.
"Let’s eat first," Lamia said, trying to keep his voice calm. "You haven’t even had breakfast, and this could affect you. Magic uses stamina, Noah. You can’t just start training on an empty stomach."
But Noah wasn’t listening. He had already reached the garden. He stood near the open grassy area, staring ahead as though he could somehow see the answers to all their problems written across the morning sky. Then suddenly, his eyes widened.
"Fuck."
Lamia stopped.
Rose raised an eyebrow.
Noah spun around. "Where is my sword?"
Lamia blinked. "Your sword?"
"Yes! My sword!" Noah looked around as though he expected it to suddenly appear somewhere nearby. "I need it."
"That’s not a problem." Lamia sighed and rubbed his forehead. "I kept it somewhere safe for you. But you need to calm down. Please. Come and have breakfast first." He stepped closer. "I’m here, aren’t I? Immediately after breakfast, we can start your training. You don’t have to rush this second."
Noah stared at him. "Look at the state of things now." His voice was suddenly much sharper. "Look at it, Lamia." He pointed toward the cottage. "Marcus is trapped in some fucking soul prison, and now Killian is in the same death sleep. Two of my mates are lying inside that house unable to wake up." His breathing became heavier. "And I’m supposed to sit down and eat breakfast?"
Lamia’s expression tightened. "Noah—"
"No." Noah shook his head. "This is what happens when I keep procrastinating." His voice cracked. "Every time I tell myself I’ll learn tomorrow. I’ll train tomorrow. I’ll figure things out tomorrow." He clenched his fists. "And now look where that got me."
Rose remained quiet, watching him.
Noah’s eyes were burning with determination. "My two mates are inside that room in a death-like sleep. If I don’t master my powers and learn how to fight these enemies, they’re going to kill them." His jaw tightened. "Who is next?" He looked toward the cottage. "Eugene?" Then toward Damian. "Or Damian?"
His voice trembled. "Of course I won’t let it reach that stage." He took a breath. "So I have to do this."
There was no changing his mind. Lamia could see that clearly.
But surprisingly, Rose wasn’t even trying to stop him. Instead, she crossed her arms. "Just let him do it."
Lamia immediately turned toward her.
Rose shrugged. "This is what we wanted, isn’t it?" She looked toward Noah. "We’ve been telling him that he needs to learn. Training is important, especially now that he doesn’t know a damn thing about magic." Her expression hardened. "We’re wasting too much time, Lamia. You know the consequences of not acting when you have the chance."
Lamia frowned. "Rose, what the fuck?" He stepped toward her. "You’re not actually helping right now, you know that?" He pointed toward Noah. "Just keep quiet and let me handle this."
Before he could say anything else, Noah interrupted. "She’s right."
Both of them looked at him.
"I’m doing this." His voice was firm. "And nothing is going to convince me otherwise."
Noah walked farther into the garden. He found an open patch of ground and slowly squatted down. Then he crossed his legs. His hands rested on his knees. He closed his eyes. And began to meditate.
Lamia stared at him. His mouth opened slightly. He was serious. Actually serious. There was nothing Lamia could do about it now.
A few moments later, footsteps came from behind them. Damian and Eugene hurried into the garden. Eugene was carrying a plate filled with strawberries, while Damian had gathered the remainder of the food that had been prepared the previous day.
Eugene walked toward Noah. "You want to train? Fine." He placed the plate nearby. "But don’t starve yourself." He smiled faintly. "Eat, darling. Get your strength first."
Noah didn’t move. Not even an inch.
Eugene waited. Nothing.
He frowned. "Did you hear me?"
Rose sighed. "He’s meditating."
Eugene looked at her. "And?"
"He won’t hear any of you right now." Rose tapped her temple. "His mind is somewhere else. So you might as well stop talking because he isn’t taking shit from anyone."
Eugene’s face fell. "Okay..."
He slowly reached toward Noah anyway. Perhaps he only wanted to touch his shoulder. Maybe he wanted to reassure himself that Noah was okay.
But the moment his fingers got close—BOOM!
A powerful force slammed Eugene backward. "Whoa!" He flew across the grass and landed directly in a thick cluster of Rose’s thorn bushes. "Ouch!"
Damian’s eyes widened. "Eugene!" He rushed over and grabbed his arm, helping him out of the thorns.
Rose rolled her eyes. "I told you to leave him alone."
Damian looked at her. "You could have warned him about the thorns."
"I did."
"You literally just told him Noah wouldn’t hear him."
"Exactly."
Damian stared at her. Rose shrugged.
Lamia pinched the bridge of his nose. "Can everyone just fucking be quiet?" He turned toward Rose. "And you, especially. Zip it and move away from here."
Rose’s eyebrows shot upward. "What?"
"I don’t know why you’re encouraging this." Lamia’s voice became stern. "He isn’t going to accomplish anything if we push him beyond his limits." He gestured toward Noah. "Immortal or not, he’s still inside a human body." Lamia’s expression became more serious. "He hasn’t even fully transcended into his celestial form yet. I don’t know when that’s supposed to happen, and until then, he is still vulnerable."
Rose’s expression changed. She looked away for a moment before responding. "This is just another excuse."
Lamia’s eyes narrowed. "Excuse?"
"You keep making excuses for him." Rose folded her arms. "I care about Ashton too. You know that." Her voice became more emotional. "But you can’t deny that he’s immortal."
Lamia froze.
"He’s fucking immortal." Rose shook her head. "He can do things we can’t. He can survive things we can’t. So why are you acting like he’ll immediately die just because he’s training?"
Lamia stared at her.
Rose continued. "He won’t die."
The words left her mouth. And something about them immediately felt wrong.
Lamia’s face changed. "What did you just say?"
Rose blinked. "Lamia—"
"How could you say that about your own friend?" His voice was low. "You want him dead before you even understand what he’s capable of?"
Rose’s lips parted. "That’s not what I meant."
"Don’t you understand that immortality doesn’t mean invincibility?" Lamia stepped closer. "Weapons can be created to kill immortals." His voice trembled with anger. "What do you think happened to the last Pureblood?"
Rose went silent.
"What do you think, Rose?" Lamia’s eyes were filled with disappointment. "I don’t know what’s happening to you." He swallowed. "But ever since you were possessed, you’ve been different."
Rose’s face paled.
"The Rose I know would be terrified watching Ashton make a decision like this." He pointed toward Noah. "She would fight tooth and nail to stop him from putting himself in danger." His expression hardened. "Not stand here and say he won’t die."
Rose’s eyes immediately filled with tears. "I’m just trying to be realistic."
"I’m disappointed."
Those two words struck harder than anything else.
Lamia turned away. "Move away for now. You’ve said enough."
Rose stood there frozen. She wanted to explain. She hadn’t meant it that way. She wasn’t wishing for Noah to get hurt. She was simply trying to accept reality. But Lamia had already turned his back on her.
Rose lowered her head. A tear slipped down her cheek. She quietly walked away.
Eugene, still picking thorns from his clothes, had heard everything. He sighed. Then he approached Lamia.
"I want to help."
Lamia looked at him.
"What should I do?" Eugene glanced toward Damian. "I mean... what should we do?"
Lamia exhaled. He had finally given in. Noah had asked him to teach him. And regardless of his fears, Lamia couldn’t deny him forever.
"Fine." He looked around. "I need candles and chalk."
Damian immediately nodded. "I’ll get them."
"I think I saw some at the entrance," Lamia added. "There was a basket there. I don’t know why it was left there, but check it."
Eugene and Damian hurried away. Lamia turned toward Noah. He was still sitting in meditation. Completely still. Waiting.
When the two Alphas returned, Lamia took the chalk and began drawing a large circle around Noah. The markings were ancient. Strange symbols appeared along the edges. Then he placed candles around the circle. One by one.
When he finished, Lamia stood up. "I hope none of you have any hidden magical problems."
Damian’s expression changed. For a brief moment, he remembered the curse that had once been sealed inside him. He still didn’t understand how it had happened. He didn’t know what had caused it. He only knew that after that particular incident involving Noah, something inside him had changed. The curse had stopped.
Could that have been because of Noah? And if so... did that count as a magical problem?
Damian remained silent.
Eugene glanced at him. Neither of them answered.
Lamia nodded anyway. "Fine." He stepped toward the circle. "Then let’s begin."
He raised his hand. The candles ignited. Not with ordinary flames. The fire exploded upward, rising far higher than it should have been able to. The garden suddenly became illuminated by terrifying golden-blue flames. Wind whipped through the area.
Damian’s eyes widened. Eugene stared in fascination.
"What the hell..."
Lamia began chanting. The magic spread through the circle. Noah’s body suddenly reacted. His eyes snapped open. A brilliant blue glow filled them completely. Then—his feet slowly lifted from the ground.
Damian’s jaw dropped. "No way."
Noah rose higher. His robe fluttered around him as magical energy surrounded his entire body.
Eugene stared upward in fascination. "He can fly?"
"No." Lamia’s eyes widened. "That’s not flying."
Noah’s body continued rising. His hands slowly opened. The energy around him intensified. Then his entire body began glowing. Blue light pulsed from his skin. The candles around him burned even brighter. The symbols Lamia had drawn began moving.
Damian took a step backward. "What is happening?"
Lamia didn’t answer. He was too stunned. This wasn’t ordinary magic. Something ancient was responding to Noah. Something far deeper than the spells Lamia had been teaching other witches.
Noah’s eyes glowed brighter. He slowly spread his arms. And then—
"Now open!"
His voice echoed through the garden. A massive wave of light exploded outward. The force was so powerful that Eugene, Damian, Lamia, and Rose were thrown away from the spot. The entire garden vanished beneath the brilliant light.
And Noah remained suspended in the center of it. His eyes blazing blue. His magic finally awake.
