Chapter 1152: Ready To Attack
Chapter 1152: Ready To Attack
(Meanwhile, On The Eternal Garden, Kaelith’s POV)
Kaelith stood quietly at the edge of the Eternal Garden cliffs, as the endless sea stretched far beyond the horizon beneath the fading evening sky while two silent tombstones rested behind him.
One belonged to Soron.
The other to Raymond.
The warm sea breeze brushed gently against Kaelith’s face while he kept both eyes closed, as though silently listening to the crashing waves below while remaining completely motionless for several long moments.
Then eventually, he opened his eyes again, as almost instantly afterward, a faint twitch of pain crossed his expression while his hand slowly rose toward his left eye.
His fingers pressed lightly against the scar surrounding it, a scar that no longer healed no matter how much divine essence endlessly circulated through his body trying to repair the damage left behind.
At first, the pain only appeared occasionally before gradually becoming a daily occurrence, however now, it had become constant, lingering beside him every waking moment of his existence.
Even lightly touching the scar now made discomfort spread through his skull like poison, which was why merely thinking about it made Kaelith let out a long exhausted sigh.
*Sigh*
"I genuinely do not know what kind of willpower you possessed, brother..."
He muttered quietly toward Soron’s grave while his gaze lowered slightly afterward.
"To continue living while enduring injuries like these for centuries...
If I were in your place, I honestly think I would have ended my own life much sooner...
After all, what exactly is the point of existing?
If all that remains of your existence is endless suffering?"
Kaelith asked softly, as faint exhaustion flickered across his eyes for only a brief moment before a portal suddenly opened behind him from the fourth dimension.
Ru Vassa stepped out calmly afterward, her long robes fluttering lightly in the evening air while her expression remained completely indifferent.
"Try living with a thick scar carved across the back of your neck instead of one small wound across your eye..."
She muttered coldly while slowly approaching him.
"Then perhaps you’ll finally understand what real suffering actually feels like."
Kaelith glanced toward her briefly afterward, as Ru Vassa’s fingers instinctively brushed against the back of her neck while hatred flickered openly across her face.
"Your brother truly left his mark on all of us..." she continued quietly.
"If anything, that bastard should have suffered for another few thousand years instead of dying gloriously like some tragic hero.
But no matter.
We’ll punish his beloved Cult in his place..."
A dangerous pressure leaked faintly from her body afterward while her eyes narrowed sharply.
"And once that’s done...
...I will personally make Mauriss pay for what he did to me."
Venom practically dripped from her voice while speaking that name aloud, because unlike the others who merely disliked Mauriss, Ru Vassa genuinely hated him on a deeply personal level.
*Step*
*Step*
Ru Vassa slowly approached Kaelith, her body covered in battle armor while layers of divine runes shimmered faintly across the dark metallic plating surrounding her figure.
As Kaelith turned toward her afterward before calmly snapping his fingers once.
*Snap*
Instantly, divine essence surged around him.
*Swooop*
Golden armor materialized piece by piece across his body afterward, as ancient runes illuminated faintly beneath the metallic plating surrounding the Eternal Sovereign.
*Clench*
*Unclench*
Kaelith slowly flexed his fingers before finally looking toward Ru Vassa properly.
"I assume you’re ready for this battle?"
He asked calmly, as Ru Vassa immediately scoffed in response.
"Please," she replied dismissively.
"You’re asking me whether I’m prepared to slaughter a few Demi Gods?"
A faint smirk appeared across her face afterward.
"I could do that immediately after waking up from my beauty sleep."
Kaelith nodded slightly hearing that response, as although he did not show it openly, her confidence reassured him somewhat internally.
"It is unfortunate that the others chose not to participate..."
Kaelith muttered afterward while looking back toward the sea once more.
"Still... perhaps this is for the best.
This battle will prove that we never needed the rest of the Great Clan Alliance to begin with, and that we alone are more than enough to eliminate enemies who deserve punishment."
Ru Vassa shook her head hearing that.
"They did not stay away because they fear the Cult," she replied calmly.
"They stayed away because they fear Mauriss."
Kaelith’s expression stiffened slightly afterward while Ru Vassa continued speaking.
"If all the Gods gathered together in one place, that bastard would absolutely exploit the opportunity somehow.
He would either destroy several undefended worlds, lead Moltherak directly toward the gathering, or create chaos some other way entirely."
Her disgust deepened visibly afterward.
"But one thing is certain.
He would absolutely interfere.
That deranged bastard loves chaos more than anything else in existence."
Kaelith silently agreed with that assessment, because honestly, Mauriss’ unpredictability remained one of the few things in existence that even he genuinely disliked dealing with.
"Yes..." Kaelith muttered eventually.
"The only real concern we have here are Mauriss and Moltherak, because the Dragon God’s alliance with the Cult complicates matters significantly more than the Cult itself."
Ru Vassa folded her arms quietly while listening as Kaelith continued speaking with calm confidence visible across his face.
"However, I spent the last several months personally confirming Moltherak’s movements and observing his patterns carefully, and from everything I gathered, it does not appear that he currently stands ready to immediately intervene on the Cult’s behalf."
Kaelith narrowed his eyes slightly afterward.
"So even if Moltherak eventually retaliates after the Cult falls, that becomes a problem the Alliance can solve collectively later.
But for now, I am certain that we are safe proceeding with this operation."
Ru Vassa nodded calmly hearing that conclusion, as a cold smile slowly spread across her face while divine essence gradually began leaking from her body.
"Good," she replied softly.
"Then what exactly are we waiting for?"
The skies above the Eternal Garden darkened faintly in response to her rising aura while the oceans below the cliffs churned violently beneath the pressure radiating from her body.
"Let’s finish this once and for all...
And finally rid this universe of the virus that has infected it for thousands of years...
The Cult Of Ascension."
A dangerous killing intent surfaced within her gaze afterward.
"The Timeless Assassin’s legacy ends today."
