Chapter 1007 Showing Spine

Chapter 1007 Showing Spine

(Inside a Virtual Conference, The Five Great Clan Gods)

The atmosphere within the conference chamber was suffocatingly tense, because although every God present agreed that Mauriss had to be punished for his actions, an uncomfortable truth loomed over them all.

Not one of them possessed an Origin Metal Blade.

And that absence changed everything.

“It always comes back to this,” Lu Han began at last, his voice measured but heavy with reluctant realism.

“While I do not disagree that we should collectively move against Mauriss, the simple fact remains that we lack the means to end him… whereas he does not.”

A grim silence followed.

“If we truly intend to hunt him down, then we will need power equal to his,” Lu Han continued. “Which means we would have to ally ourselves with Kaelith once again.”

Several expressions darkened at the name.

“And after the scathing letter of rejection we sent him not long ago, I am not entirely certain the Eternal Sovereign would even entertain such a proposal.”

His gaze swept across the projections.

“So unless all of you are prepared to place yourselves beneath Kaelith’s banner once more…”

He paused deliberately.

“I do not see how this revenge plan succeeds.”

The chamber fell into uneasy silence as the weight of subservience

settled uncomfortably over the alliance.

For a while, nobody talked, until it was Yu Kiro that finally broke the silence.

“Regardless… this cannot be allowed to continue.

If we do nothing today, then tomorrow it may be you who falls next, Lu Han.”

He let the implication settle before continuing.

“And so this is my proposal.”

His expression hardened.

“We make one final attempt to bring Kaelith into alignment with us.

We offer him limited concessions. NOT SUBSERVIENCE. NOT SURRENDER.

But rather controlled, strategic concessions in exchange for securing his strength against Mauriss.”

A few projections shifted subtly at that.

“If he accepts, then the matter resolves cleanly.

But if he refuses… we move forward regardless.”

He said, as he squinted his eyes.

“We confront Mauriss ourselves. We engage him collectively. We

disarm him if necessary and seize the Origin Metal Blade.”

A tense silence followed.

“It is five against one.

I will not claim I can defeat Mauriss alone.

But he is no Soron.

He is dangerous, yes.

But he is not invincible.”

His gaze swept across the assembly.

“Together, the five of us can hold our ground. And if we coordinate properly, we can bring him down.”

He suggested, as for the first time in years, it seemed as though he was not speaking from caution but rather from resolve.

“Aye, I agree with you.

This needs to stop.”

Mu Shen said in firm support, as the fire that was started from Yu Kiro’s speech seemed to spread on to him next.

“I say we make that bastard pay!”

Mu Shen added, as his killing intent flared as he said those words.

“Aye, I’m with you as well,”

Du Trask added next, his deep voice steady as his massive silhouette folded its arms across its chest, the gesture conveying both

impatience and readiness.

“If we allow Mauriss to strike one of us without consequence, then we are no longer an alliance. We are prey waiting for our turn to be

eaten.”

A low murmur of agreement followed, and even Lu Han, who had initially urged caution, inclined his head slowly as though conceding to a reality he could no longer deny.

“I still believe the risks are substantial,” he admitted, his tone measured but no longer resistant, “but inaction carries a far greater danger, because hesitation now would only embolden Mauriss further and invite another strike, perhaps against one of us who may not be fortunate enough to survive it.”

One by one, the remaining Clan Gods voiced their assent, as the chamber that had moments earlier felt fractured by doubt now steadied into unified intent, and though the plan before them was dangerous and uncertain, it was at least decisive.

As for the first time since Ru Vassa revealed her wound, the Five Great Clan Gods were no longer sitting in fear of the Deceiver’s next move, but rather preparing to answer it.

(Meanwhile, within the Su Clan, Su Yang’s POV)

“Father, I have given this considerable thought, and I have made up my mind,” Su Yang said firmly, standing tall before the head of the Su

Clan.

“Leo is the Cult’s new Cult Master, and he will not decline my request. So please… permit me to go.”

Su Tang did not respond immediately. He merely stroked his chin, studying his son with a mixture of reluctance and calculation. “You understand what you are asking,” Su Tang replied at last.

“A single day spent in that place is equivalent to a hundred days here. Even a brief six-month absence in the outside world would translate

into decades within.”

Su Yang nodded without hesitation.

“That is precisely why I must go. If I take even six months away from

my duties as the Su Clan scion, I can return as a peak Monarch warrior, ready to step into the Demi God realm.”

His voice sharpened.

“The universe is shifting too quickly, Father. The Universal

Government is no more and the Great Clans are on the backfoot. While Leo himself stands at the center of a rising storm. I cannot

afford to remain stagnant.”

He clenched his fists.

“I am not satisfied with my current level of power.”

Su Yang expressed, as he sighed deeply, his eyes desperate yet

defiant.

However, in contrast, Su Tang only looked troubled.

He understood the logic. The Time Stilled World was an unparalleled

training ground. The opportunity was real.

But favors to the Cult were never free.

If Su Yang relied on them now, then one day, when the Cult called

upon him, he would be bound to answer.

And that debt would not be small.

Su Tang looked into his son’s eyes and saw no hesitation there.

Only resolve.

And at that moment he realized that arguing further was going to accomplish nothing, which was why, after a long silence, he released a deep sigh as well.

“Very well,” he said quietly. “You may go.”
