“Shall I take you away from here?” he said.

With his abilities and circumstances, he could easily provide Gu Shengyin with a better environment and living conditions.

However, Gu Shengyin refused him, “It’s not urgent at the moment.”

Ji Yu glanced at her, seemingly puzzled.

Gu Shengyin smiled, “This external environment won’t affect me much nowadays.”

She looked down at herself and said, “I’ve taken over her body, it’s a kind of fate. I need to properly repay those who owed her.”

Ji Yu said nothing, but took out a bank card from his pocket, “Then take this, at least change to a place with a better environment and live a little better.”

Although knowing deep down that his beloved doesn’t care about these things and no one can hurt her, Ji Yu still hoped for Gu Shengyin to live a bit better.

This time, Gu Shengyin did not refuse.

The two had hardly exchanged a few words before Ji Yu’s phone rang from his pocket.

He answered the call; it seemed to be from his family.

Gu Shengyin watched as Ji Yu said a few words in a faint tone before hanging up.

He turned to look at Gu Shengyin, “Ayin, I have to go back now.”

Gu Shengyin nodded.

Ji Yu, in this body of Chen Xize, because of some childhood issues, was both pampered by his family and closely monitored in terms of his whereabouts.

This time, with him not yet home at this hour, naturally, his family was very worried.

He looked at Gu Shengyin, unable to resist giving a few more reminders, “Remember to live in a good place, go eat better, buy some comfortable clothes…”

His unfinished words disappeared between their lips and teeth.

The evening sunlight refracted through the small window, gently sketching a beautiful silhouette on the not-so-white wall, as it bathed the white-shirted boy and uniformed girl in its glow.

Gu Shengyin lightly bit Ji Yu’s appealing thin lips, smiling as she said, “I know, little caretaker.”

Ji Yu raised his eyebrows, biting back, “I’ll only take care of your house.”

…

The next day, Gu Shengyin still dressed in her unobtrusive school uniform, slowly walked into the school with her backpack.

As usual, no one noticed her.

She walked straight to the dimmest corner of the classroom—this was the worst spot in the classroom environment, close to the trash can, year-round without sunshine.

No one wanted to sit there. Zhou Qi didn’t resist, and since the first month of school started, she had become a regular there.

Books piled high on the high school seats; small-statured Zhou Qi sat so low that she couldn’t even see above the books, making it easy to imagine how difficult listening in class was.

Gu Shengyin sat quietly, waiting as the self-study bell rang—predictably, Zhang Qin and her group hadn’t come for morning study.

Those girls loved to play, not coming home for a night wasn’t unusual.

Thinking about it, no one would have noticed their disappearance yet, right?

Some of the classmates looked on curiously but didn’t pay much attention—those students were part of the few in the class with the best family conditions, so their attitude towards studying wasn’t serious, missing a morning study wasn’t a big deal.

And just like that, until the third period when homeroom teacher Liu Hong started the class, did she realize something was amiss.
