Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 344 - A Peace Offering

Marquess Samed had no clue about the hidden agenda of his pupil which she had incorporated in the proposal she had given him to pass on to the King of the Kingdom.

Therefore, he narrated in excitement how the little girl's idea was chosen by the Ruler and also accepted by the others.

"The King had high praises for the idea you had given." Marquess Samed explained to her how everyone was commending this idea.

When Yvonne heard these words, she first nodded at her own brilliance but soon froze.

"And I am sure that you did not let anyone know that I had a role in this as always, am I right? Marquess?" She inquired and could hear her heart thumping out loud.

'My strategy to stay away from the Royal family would crumble if he messed up by opening his big, wide gossiping mouth before the King.' She narrowed her eyes to find any hint about his misstep.

However, Sullivan raised his chin and shot her a scornful look oozing with contempt.

"I know what needs to be done!" He declared and harrumphed out loud.

'After all, the King did not inquire about your involvement this time.' He sighed that he was spared from the Ruler's scrutinizing gaze which was similar to the one that his pupil was aiming at him right now.

This thought once again brought that strange reminder of how familiar these two were in certain aspects.

But he shook his head, discarding that thought from his mind as it held no weight.

However, what the Marquess wasn't aware of was the reason why the King had not questioned him about the little girl's involvement in this matter.

The reason which would soon be revealed as well.

Yvonne sighed as she tried to calm the rapid beating of her heart while she waited for her tutor's answer.

Once again, she had averted disaster by staying out of the Royal family's radar.

'And I plan to keep doing just that!' She declared her plan of action until she was sure that she had avoided the dreadful future that a certain god of flight and thunder had written in her fate.

"I just hope that the people make use of this idea and change for the better." She muttered when she thought of the impending dangers.

A few months had passed already and the timeline of the plague was fast approaching.

In a little less than two years, the Kingdom will be devastated by the plague that would hit them out of nowhere.

Her tiny steps to prepare them and help them avoid as many deaths as possible were all she could do in her current circumstances.

Thus, she hoped that the King and her father, men who had greater power over their people would heed her words and do what was needed to save their populace.

Marquess Samed sat in silence as he observed the grave look upon her face and felt that his student was one with deep thoughts.

'She surely isn't like others her age.' He could state this with confidence after staying with her for so long.

The silence then broke as he began speaking about how her ideas were now held in high regard by the physicians of the Royal Medical Association.

The little girl nodded as she tried to appear humble but her cheeky smile proved that she was also proud of what she had managed to do.

The class soon came to an end with the two discussing matters regarding her ideas.

Thus, the books which needed to be reviewed for the class were left untouched.

"Tomorrow, we shall study for longer." Sullivan announced in an attempt to catch up with the time they had lost today.

Yvonne glared at the back of the man who was now escaping from the room after he had blurted those words out.

'You were the one who wasted my time with your useless gossip!' She glowered but reverted to her smile when she saw Roselie appearing at the door.

She needed to maintain a certain facade before the others which only broke in the presence of a few chosen people.

Therefore, she smiled and strode out of the room with Roselie following her.

Walking to the dining room where lunch would soon be served, she paused for a moment when they reached the door.

'Should I remain mad at them or make conversation like nothing happened?' She wondered what her next move would be.

She had not spoken to her parents after the punishment was declared but now, she was on two minds on what should be done.

Roselie was ignorant of the inner conflict in her Young Miss's mind and knocked on the door following which she held the door open for her.

'What's the hurry!?' Yvonne felt a moment of deja vu as Mrs. Jacinth had also done the same once.

However, just like last time, she could not show her displeasure and had to smile as she entered the room before she could come up with a proper plan.

Rutherford turned around when he heard the click of the door and a smile appeared on his face when he saw his daughter.

Raylene too smiled as this time, their child sat next to her rather than at the end of the table.

'This is so awkward.' Yvonne groaned, feeling their constant gaze on her.

She did not know what to say so she chose to remain silent while the servants began bringing out their meal.

Wiping their hands with the wet napkins they were served, the family began eating in silence.

The husband and wife continued to steal glimpses at the child who had not ignored them today but at the same time, she did not initiate a conversation.

Rutherford's furrowed brows indicated that he was not pleased with this continual lack of interaction between them.

'Patience, Ruthy!' Raylene patted the Earl's hand after noticing his impatient look.

The Countess had a rough week after what had taken place with the maid but she was further troubled at her child's silence.

They realized that the stern punishment was the cause of this so they had decided to do something special to cheer her up.

'When I was sad, Vonny cheered me up by taking me to meet Howie so now it is my turn.' She had thought and even acted upon it.

She was not aware that her daughter had ulterior motives for what she had done but she had enjoyed that day nonetheless until they had returned home to that shocking revelation.

Therefore, she was determined to do something special for the little girl as well.

Yvonne never had to coax anyone or be the first to talk as her younger brother, Vince would do that every time they fought.

But here, she did not have the cute little brother who approached her first as she was the one who was supposed to do that now.

However, she was still not used to doing this and felt awkward about this situation.

Their lunch came to an end with the family eating in silence, each in their own thoughts.

'I think I should just continue how things are right now.' Yvonne sighed as she wiped her lips with the napkin once she was done.

Just as she was about to take her leave, she noticed that her parents were looking at her with sparkling eyes.

Tilting her head with confusion at their strange behavior she observed them keenly.

"Vonny, we know that you are upset with the punishment you received but remember that it was because we care for you." Raylene patted her head while explaining their stance.

Though pouting, the little girl nodded as she could understand where they were coming from.

'But I still did not like that punishment!' She added in her mind.

Her father who had been silent all along finally decided to open his mouth.

"Because we care, we hate it when you are mad at us." He revealed his emotions which almost made her roll her eyes.

'Then don't ground me the next time.' She stared at him with a deadpan look on her face which made the Countess chuckle.

The two who had been staring at each other turned to the woman who was laughing for the first time since that incident had taken place.

This broke the mild tension between them as they too smiled while looking at her.

Raylene blushed under their gaze and glanced towards her husband as she signaled him with her eyes.

'Do it now!' She commanded and Rutherford nodded immediately.

"So, Mama and Papa bought you a present as a peace offering." He divulged with a wide smile.
