Chapter 267 - Their Moment Of Awakening
"One can awaken these dormant powers under certain instances." Captain Desmo continued his explanations.
Everything that was being said was new and unheard of for the little girl so she paid attention to what was going on around her.
'So I might have some supernatural powers buried deep inside of me!?' Yvonne's heart surged with joy at this thought.
This revelation came as a shocking yet welcomed surprise to her.
Who in their right mind would push away a chance to have powers that could aid them in the future?
Certainly, Yvonne St. Claire was not one of them. She would grab this opportunity and never let it go.
Captain Desmo was pleased with her attentive face and did not hesitate to explain things in detail to her and her elder brother alike.
"A young boy might experience his 'Awakening' when he is undergoing rigorous training, confronting a tough opponent, facing a life and death situation…" He stated a few circumstances under which one might waken.
"Facing complicated situations which challenge them." Rutherford added how he had awakened in his youth.
Marques Samed nodded and decided to reveal his moment of awakening as well.
"Or it can simply be the desire to achieve something wholeheartedly. A yearning to strive for greater heights and to get better in whatever it is that you want to do." He chuckled when he thought of his past.
Captain Desmo Reel had awakened his powers when he was training under Duke Obinn Tanner's rigorous routine.
Rutherford had awakened when he was facing criticism back at his home when his father forbade him from continuing his training.
While Marquess Sullivan Samed's awakening had nothing to do with either of these reasons.
He had awakened his powers when he had confronted a tough problem in his studies at the Royal Academy.
The desire to strive and become better had been his aid in achieving his awakening.
Yvonne and the four boys were hearing the causes of the awakenings of the previous generation and there was a proud smile on their faces.
'Even his awakening was related to his studies.' The little girl chuckled at her tutor's studious past.
"Why don't the three of you also share your moment of awakening?" Captain Desmo suggested as he glanced at the three youngsters.
The way he had formed his sentence, it was clear that he was confident that they had already awakened.
Howard and Yvonne whiplashed to look at the three young boys with confusion and astonishment in their eyes.
'They have also awakened!?' She stared at them with admiration apparent on her face.
While she was shooting appreciative glances at the boys, Howard was glaring at his friend.
"When were you planning on telling me about this, huh?" He interrogated as a menacing glare took root on his face.
Taylor let out a sheepish chuckle while scratching his neck as he turned towards the boy who was seething in anger.
"You see… I…" He stuttered and tried his best to form a sentence but failed to do so even after a long time.
Looking at his younger brother in such a distressing situation, Topher felt the need to laugh out loud but would not do so as that would harm his opinion in their eyes.
"He awakened before this academic year began… While training with the Captain." Topher announced, lending his little brother a helping hand.
Taylor gazed at his brother with gratitude and love overflowing from his eyes but soon froze.
'You owe me big time!' The elder son of the Duke smirked at the boy sitting on the other side of the table.
Others may not know the cause of Taylor's hesitance to reveal his awakening moment but Captain Desmo, Topher, and Damien were perfectly aware.
After all, Captain and Topher were present at that moment while Damien was later informed about it by his friend.
'He cried until his throat went sore when Captain refused to let him take a break from the sparring match.' Topher looked down to hide his evil grin.
Their father had instructed the Captain to train them and while Topher had accepted his fate, Taylor was still reluctant and rebellious.
This caused the Captain to give his excess training to break his rebellious attitude.
Taylor could only throw a fit and cry for being treated harshly but their trainer was never lenient.
'I'll let you go if you can land a single blow on me.' Captain Desmo had taunted the boy with his usual vicious tongue.
Tired and mocked, he could no longer accept this ridicule thus charging towards the Captain with all his might to strike him.
Though he could not succeed, he had achieved another precious goal of awakening his powers.
Thinking of the snot-filled face running towards him with a sword in his hand, Captain Desmo had a similar face as Topher's.
Everyone at the table found it strange that the three people who were sitting next to each other looked like they were trying too hard to control their laughter.
Taylor on the other hand was glaring at them and then glimpsing at the girl next to him, hoping that she did not find anything weird about this situation.
'Vonny was looking at me with awe! I want her to continue looking at me like that!' He was determined to keep his reputation clean before her.
"What about you Big Brother Topher?" Howard inquired with sparkling eyes.
He could no longer care for his secretive best friend so he decided to ask his idol about his awakening.
Taylor was grateful that the attention was finally shifted to someone else and they wouldn't mull over his matters any further.
'What is he hiding?' Yvonne suspected his actions when she heard the loud sigh coming from her side.
"My awakening was when I faced an opponent much stronger than me." Topher's reason brought a gasp out of the St. Claire boy.
'Big Brother Topher is the strongest pupil in his year so who could be stronger than him?' Howard tried to recall about any such person but failed to do so.
'Interesting… I seem to have chanced upon a secret here.' Yvonne smirked at this discovery she had made.
When everyone was lost in their thoughts, no one had noticed the short eye contact that Topher and Damien had made.
Well, no one but her so she was now sure that this stronger opponent could be the rude boy, Damien.
Now the only one left was Damien and all eyes were fixed on him, including Yvonne.
However, Damien focused his attention on Howard while he revealed his moment of awakening.
"My awakening could be attributed to multiple reasons so I cannot give a single answer." He divulged though it was vague and unsatisfactory.
Yvonne clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes at the boy who was treating his moment as though it was a state secret whose disclosure might cause him harm.
Captain Desmo did not wish to force an answer out of him so he moved to the next part of his discussion.
Looking at his old friend's son, he smiled when he saw traces of Rutherford's youthful face peeking through from Howard.
"What were you thinking during your duel with your sister?" He inquired as this could be considered his reason for awakening.
Howard gave it a moment's thought as he tried to recall what he was feeling back then.
Turning his head to the side, he fixed his eyes on the little sister who had been his opponent in the fight.
"I was enjoying the time when we were fighting." He revealed the first thought that had come to his mind.
'I could sense that.' Yvonne, in response, smiled with a nod as she agreed with his words.
"The duel started as a test to see how much you had truly learned but it transformed into a pleasant experience for me." He continued and with each word his ears grew a darker shade of red.
'Is he blushing!?' She felt the need to squish his cheeks but couldn't as their mother was seated between them.
"So, I don't understand why I had awakened during our fight." He shook his head due to his inability to pinpoint his exact moment.
Rutherford let out a loud hearty laughter after hearing his son's answer.
Raising his hand, he patted the young boy's head with gentle love and care evident in his actions.
"I know why you awakened, my boy." He declared for which he obtained curious eyes from everyone present.
