Chapter 132 - What's Wrong, Boy?
The Black Shadow guards who had been scouring the city of Amarthea to find the huge and monstrous etcher which had managed to escape its bounds, stumbled upon a unique scene when they arrived at the St. Claire Estate.
True to their reputation of being the best, they had taken only half an hour to locate the etcher and their search had finally come to an end.
As they sat on a branch of a nearby tree, they secretly observed the child with the Captain of the Red Scorpion Knights along with the two horses.
The Captain and the child sat on a large boulder and watched the horses drinking water from a stream through which flowed clear and pristine water.
The presence of the Captain at this place did not pique their interest as much as the events that took place after this.
The more they watched in silence, the more they felt a panic rising in their hearts.
The reason for this panic was the submissive and obedient behavior of the mighty etcher that had not flinched even once when it was before the King's presence.
Now that very same beast was wagging its long tail and seemed to be enjoying the chin rub that the young child was giving it.
This was an obvious cause of distress for these two men as this proved that the etcher that was meant to form a bond with their Prince Draco had already etched on someone else.
The most shocking revelation was the fact that the monstrous beast had formed its bond which lasted for a lifetime with a mere child and a female at that.
They had heard about the daughter of the St. Claire family and had even witnessed the brave feats that she had managed to accomplish.
This was thanks to their duty of guarding their Lord, Draco Roschester that they had witnessed her actions while following their master.
The Black Shadow Knights took orders from the King of Rosenhyde but everyone in the palace knew that their true leader and Lord was none other than the Grand Duke.
Therefore, when he had been sent on the expedition to the different fiefs, these two guards had been there to follow him and ensure his safety at all times.
Yet when this child had fallen on him and injured them, they couldn't make their presence known since it was not a matter of life and death.
The same had happened when they saw the Young Prince Fritzen drowning in a stream that was three feet at best.
These two incidents, they had witnessed but did not have the clearance to act as their presence was not required.
Therefore, they had seen the Yvonne St. Claire who had injured their master by accident and also the Yvonne St. Claire who had saved the next King of the Kingdom.
Now the dilemma they faced was what must be done to the beast who had already found its master in the same little girl.
The two men shared a glance at each other and then nodded their heads.
The next second, like a gust of wind, a loud whoosh was heard and the two men disappeared from their hiding spot.
The Captain of the Red Scorpion Knights had not noticed their presence for a single second which spoke volumes about the difference in their skills and power.
However, once the men vanished from the tree branch, the dark crimson eyes of the etcher turned in the same direction.
Demon was a high-level etcher who had been procured by the King of the neighboring kingdom after much trouble and planning.
The pains it suffered after being captured was not something that he wished to experience ever again.
Now that he had finally found his fated master in this little girl, he would do everything to keep himself and the child's future safe at any cost.
Yvonne looked up when she felt that her pet was behaving in a suspicious manner.
"What's wrong, boy?" She inquired and in response, she got a strong shake of the head by the intelligent horse who understood what she had said.
Not wanting to argue with a horse that she was sure she felt a weird sensation earlier, she turned her attention to the man who was about to say something important.
"What was it that you wished to speak about, Captain?" She questioned him and tilted her head.
They had been watching the two beasts and had yet to speak a single word after the Captain had announced that he had something to say to her.
"Have you ever heard of what an etcher is…?" The man polled and received a shake of the head indicating that she had no prior knowledge about it.
Captain Desmo Reel had expected such a thing and so he looked into Yvonne's amethyst eyes as he began explaining what an etcher was.
When she heard what an etcher was, she immediately associated it with the tattoos in her old world.
Just like a tattoo was a commitment that one made to live with forever, this bond was on the same lines except for the fact that the bond was not something in their control.
'And… We had laser treatments to remove tattoos but I doubt that we can't remove these bonds.' She speculated that such a thing did not exist in this world.
"The horse right there is one such etcher." He revealed while pointing his chin at Demon.
The more the little girl heard about the special horse she had chosen to be her pet, the wider her eyes grew.
'Who would have thought that this horse was so unique? I liked it because it looked cool.' She chuckled sheepishly when she recalled why she had been so attracted to this horse.
The shiny black coat and the sparkling crimson eyes had made her feel as though she had encountered a demon from hell and her interest in the animal had awakened.
This made her want to touch the horse which in return formed the bond between them to take effect.
Yvonne had not known about the contract until now that the Captain had been so generous to explain in great detail.
When she learned about the longevity of the bond, which lasted for a lifetime Yvonne was startled as the realization hit her about the sudden responsibility that had fallen on her petite shoulders.
'I just wanted to touch the horse and maybe play with it! Why am I now its master?' She sneered and then panicked as her eyes moved towards the beast.
Demon seemed to have noticed her change in emotions and put on a pitiful look on his dark face while blinking those big red eyes.
This cute appearance of the large beast made Desmo and Precious almost puke blood but the pretense that the etcher had put on had already taken its effect on the little child.
'So what if he isn't a normal horse? I, Yvonne St. Claire can take good care of him as long as I live!' She vowed in her heart while smiling widely at her etcher.
A vow that she was willing to fulfill with all her heart no matter what the obstacles before her were.
