Chapter 324 -321: Uninvited Guest

The Demon-Slaying Assembly in the center of the small town was a cacophony of voices, packed with experts from every sect.

The Shaolin Sect Leader, clad in simple white monastic robes and a Buddhist cap, slowly ascended the stage. Holding a Gilded Zen Staff, she slammed it heavily onto the ground, and the green bricks of the entire estate rippled like waves on water.

“Amitabha.” She lowered her white-browed gaze and brought her palms together. Her voice, miraculously, cut through the clamor:

“I, Xuanxu, thank all you heroes of the Martial World for traveling great distances to be here, to eradicate evil completely and defend the righteous path.”

She was Xuanxu, the Sect Leader of Shaolin. She had reached the Fourth Turn Realm at the age of sixty and, relying on her Angry-eyed Ming King Manifestation, had slain scores, if not hundreds, of demons with her palm strikes over the years.

As Xuanxu finished speaking, a chorus of humble and flattering replies rose from the assembled heroes.

During this exchange, Fang Can was starting to feel the urge to yawn. It was only then that he heard the Kongtong Sect Leader propose, “Thank you for your kind words, heroes. Let us now discuss how to attack Cloud Top.”

The Kongtong Sect Leader was Guan Weitong, whose primary martial art was the Seven Injuries Fist—a technique that wounded the enemy by seven parts while injuring the user by three.

After cultivating to the Fourth Turn Realm, she had relied on her “Tremor-Pole Profound Artifice” inheritance to reach the Adamantine Realm, where nothing was unbreakable.

In response to the Kongtong Sect Leader’s proposal, Layman Yu Duan of Mount Emei tilted their head up slightly and said:

“Among the Four Great Dharma Kings of the Demon Sect, the Blue-Winged Bat King’s ‘Inverse Light Demonic Shadow’ is the finest Lightweight Skill in the world. If we divide our forces, I fear she will pick our smaller groups off one by one.”

“Therefore, we must act as one. With righteous and overwhelming might, we will annihilate the entire Demon Sect in a single blow.”

The heroes present voiced their agreement with Layman Yu Duan’s words.

As a few sect leaders from smaller sects whispered amongst themselves, Fang Can distinctly heard a snippet: “…last month, thirty masters from the Diancang Sect were sucked dry into husks by that fiend.”

And just as they were speaking, a shrill laugh echoed from all directions, surrounding the venue.

The moment the laughter rang out, the Demon-Slaying Assembly fell deathly silent.

The leaders of the six major sects present all frowned in unison, for the voice was incredibly familiar to them.

Along with the voice, a figure wreathed in black lightning danced wildly through the crowd.

Some people felt a slight dampness on their necks, as if they had just been licked by something.

“HAHAHAHAHA! Thank you for the high praise, Layman Yu Duan! To think you’d abandon a multi-pronged attack just to guard against little old me.”

As the voice boomed, a figure completely cloaked in black appeared atop a flagpole. It was a middle-aged woman with a gaunt, sunken face.

“Blue-Winged Bat King, Wei Yixiao!” Layman Yu Duan’s brow furrowed, their eyes locked on the figure. “You dare to show your face here!”

“And why wouldn’t I? It’s not like you can catch me.”

Wei Yixiao cackled. “A whole crowd of you, plotting to attack my holy sect, yet you can’t even touch my shadow. Isn’t that just pathetic?”

“Insolent fiend! Enough of your chatter!” With a cold snort, a massive, exquisitely detailed golden palm materialized and smashed toward Wei Yixiao from afar.

Xuanxu’s robes billowed like clouds as the phantom image of the Angry-eyed Ming King appeared behind her, so solid it seemed real. The gilded Buddha palm descended with the force of a thunderclap.

The flagpole where Wei Yixiao had been standing instantly exploded into a shower of splinters. The sheer force of the palm’s descent pressed the ground in a wide radius into a crater ten feet deep.

But before the strike landed, Wei Yixiao had already transformed into a streak of black lightning and moved aside.

When the crowd looked again, they saw the Shaolin Sect Leader standing tall in mid-air.

Her elegant, robe-clad form was enveloped by a fifteen-foot-tall Angry-eyed Ming King, its eyes blazing with true fire as it stared down Wei Yixiao.

This was the Shaolin Sect Leader’s Angry-eyed Ming King Manifestation.

Once deployed, it formed a phantom Buddha around the user. As long as the Buddha’s form remained unbroken, the user was impervious to fire and water.

“My, getting impatient are we? Is this the true face of the righteous path?”

Wei Yixiao sneered, “Weren’t you planning to besiege us? You’re certainly taking your sweet time. In that case, my holy sect will await you at Cloud Top tomorrow… if you dare to show up.”

As she spoke, Wei Yixiao’s gaze swept across the crowd. When her eyes passed over Fang Can, her pupils suddenly lit up.

A young man sat serenely amidst the sea of people, his white robes purer than snow, his silver hair flowing like moonlight. The pale blue veins on his neck pulsed faintly with each breath, and the sight subconsciously made her mouth go dry.

‘Now that’s a fine-quality blood-sac…’ Her tongue flicked against a pointed tooth, and her black robes stirred despite the lack of wind.

Her inheritance was called the “Inverse Light Demonic Shadow.”

Once activated, black lightning would envelop her. By compressing her own personal timeline, she could defy the laws of physics, locking her speed at double that of a normal person and her reflexes at ten times the norm!

Combined with her already unparalleled Body Technique, it was safe to say no one could match her speed.

The price, however, was that her lifespan also drained away at double the rate. Her already short life was stretched perilously thin.

Fortunately, she also possessed the Blood Slaughter Skill, which allowed her to replenish her lost time by consuming the essence-blood of high-Realm Martial Artists.

Now, seeing Fang Can, that craving surged within her once more.

“Hahahaha! I never expected to find such a handsome prize here. Let me have a little taste!”

Before her voice even faded, Wei Yixiao’s figure transformed into a black thunderbolt, hurtling toward Fang Can. Her right hand shot out to grab his shoulder, intending to abduct him.

“Brazen thief! Die!” Xuanxu roared. Her golden arm swung through the air, shattering the very atmosphere and whipping up a furious gale as she tried to intercept Wei Yixiao.

But to the Blue-Winged Bat King, with her tenfold reflexes and double speed, the Sect Leader’s attack seemed to move at a snail’s pace.

With a flicker of her body, she evaded it, curving in a wide arc to continue her rush toward the young man.

The next moment, as she stared at the young man’s face, now just inches from her own, Wei Yixiao’s expression stiffened.

Because with her tenfold reflexes, she could see with perfect clarity that the young man was slowly… lifting his eyelids.

In that nearly frozen sliver of time, his red pupils were locked directly onto her.

‘He can actually see my movements?’

Wei Yixiao was horrified. Then she saw the young man’s body begin to rise from the stone bench, piece by agonizing piece, confirming her terrifying suspicion.

‘Where the hell did this unknown Fourth Turn Grandmaster come from? Son of a bitch!’

Cursing inwardly, Wei Yixiao didn’t dare take his attack head-on without knowing what his inheritance was.

Watching his right hand slowly, like a scene in slow motion, reach for her neck, she flinched and violently twisted her body away.

The abrupt change in direction sent her body tumbling out of control. She skipped across the ground like a flat stone on water, smashed through an enclosing wall, and then shot off toward Cloud Top like a bolt of lightning.

“Damn you, kid! You just wait! Don’t let me see you tomorrow!”

Wei Yixiao was still shouting threats as she fled.

The crowd’s eyes fell upon the human-shaped hole she had smashed through the wall, their hearts filled with anger and frustration.

This was supposed to be the great Demon-Slaying Assembly, but a single follower of the Demon Dao had brazenly waltzed in, taunted them all, and then escaped. It was an absolute disgrace.

“You think you can just show up and then run away? Not so fast!”

Fang Can let out a cold snort. With a light push of his legs, he leaped high into the air, soaring into the sky under the watchful eyes of the entire assembly.
