This High Martial World is Too Crazy!!!
Chapter 263 - 261: Suxin Pavilion
Chapter 263: Chapter 261: Suxin Pavilion
In a matter of moments, Fang Can’s body went from brimming with vitality to appearing visibly weakened.
To gain the trust of those Martial Artists, and especially to deceive a Fourth Turn, he had to make the act convincing.
Under the influence of the force field, most of the bones in Fang Can’s body snapped, and he deliberately tore off his own left arm.
As his terrified followers watched, their hearts pounding in their chests, Fang Can slipped into a near-death state, suspended in mid-air by the force field.
The Second Turn Martial Artist respectfully supported Fang Can’s body with his True Qi. "Sir," he said, "I’ll take you to the Inversion Sect now."
After receiving a weak affirmation from Fang Can, the two quickly left the Capital City and headed south.
The Inversion Sect was one of the four great sects in the Great Derivation, and its status was exceptional.
Its headquarters was on the outskirts of Guangling City in Yangzhou, several thousand miles from the Capital City.
But at the speed of a Second Turn Martial Artist, traveling without rest, they could make it in about four hours.
Along the way, however, he noticed something else.
Players!!!
’I almost forgot about these guys.’
Fang Can narrowed his eyes, observing the chaotic scenes in the cities they sped past below.
Even with the laws of the Interstellar Federation to restrain them, the players ultimately couldn’t suppress their own nature.
He observed some players, new to the game, who were dying just for fun.
They would bleed themselves to death in the middle of a bustling city district, causing a panic, only to have their bodies respawn elsewhere as they revived.
Others were constantly engaging with the people around them, trying to probe for game bugs or quests.
And still others who ignored the Federation’s regulations, going on killing sprees in a mad dash to level up.
...
Due to a series of traits—infinite respawns, immunity to pain, leveling up by killing monsters, and so on—the players’ behavior was inherently more difficult to control than that of the native inhabitants.
Furthermore, from what Fang Can had learned about the players, their innate aptitude was considered astounding within the world of Great Derivation.
They gained one experience point for every hour of cultivation.
The entry requirement for a common Cultivation Technique, the Five Elements Moisture Placement Skill, was only 100 experience points.
Even without grinding monsters, they could draw qi into their bodies after just four or five days of dedicated cultivation. That rate of progress was in a league of its own.
Given enough time to grow, this horde of infinitely respawning players would likely upend the entire structure of the martial world, forcing every Martial Artist to truly experience the terror of the Fourth Celestial Calamity.
’But it doesn’t matter... None of them can hold a candle to me.’ Fang Can closed his eyes to rest his mind, ignoring the scenes below.
The only reason those Fourth Turn masters could dominate the world now was that he had only just reached the starting line.
Even the so-called Fourth Celestial Calamity didn’t make Fang Can think he could be surpassed by this mob.
After all, he was certain that he, and only he, would be the one to reach the Endpoint.
After a long journey, four hours later, as the first stars of evening began to appear, the two arrived at the Inversion Sect in Yangzhou.
In truth, Fang Can couldn’t help but notice the Inversion Sect’s colossal mountain headquarters from a great distance away.
From hundreds of kilometers away, a massive, inverted mountain peak floated rootlessly high in the sky.
The pitch-black mountain looked like the tip of a greatsword shattered by heavenly lightning, hanging straight down from the highest heavens.
Countless thick, ancient trees grew downwards from its surface. The dragon-claw-shaped bedrock of its summit, which should have been rooted deep within the earth, now clawed menacingly toward the sky.
The flat base that should have been resting on the ground was now the sect’s foundation, forming a massive, inverted cone high in the air.
Below the inverted mountain peak stretched a boundless lake. Its mirror-like surface reflected the peak above, creating the illusion that the world was upside down and the water was the true sky.
According to ancient records, the Inversion Sect was originally founded by a Fifth Turn.
By merely altering the laws of geomagnetism, he had forcefully uprooted an entire mountain to serve as the sect’s home. That it had remained fixed for hundreds of years, through countless sunrises and moonsets, was a testament to the might of a Fifth Turn.
To the generations of common folk living in Yangzhou, the Inversion Sect was, without a doubt, synonymous with a divine miracle.
Carried by the Second Turn, the two of them soon leaped onto the inverted mountain’s surface.
When the disciples guarding the entrance saw the Second Turn, they immediately adopted a respectful posture, not daring in the least to obstruct their entry.
The Second Turn, for his part, put on his usual arrogant air and swaggered through the gates, basking in the deferential gazes of the other disciples.
Along the way, countless disciples with powerful physiques could be seen sparring in various corners, diligently honing their bodies.
Sensing the pair pass by, the disciples paused their training to bow respectfully to the Second Turn, all while stealing glances at the near-dead Fang Can.
Only after the two were a safe distance away did hushed discussions break out among them.
"Is that the Fang Can the Sect Leader was talking about? He really does have an extraordinary presence. It’s a shame, though. Anyone below the Fourth Turn is ultimately just an ant."
"Nothing to be done about it. So what if he reached the First Turn in three months? Potential is useless if it can’t be converted into actual power."
...
Ignoring the chatter behind them, they walked for another fifteen minutes or so.
When the Second Turn finally halted, they had arrived at the main reception hall in the very center of the Inversion Sect.
Inside the spacious, minimalist hall, the current Sect Leader of the Inversion Sect sized up the youth floating weakly before him, held aloft by True Qi. With a mocking smile, he said:
"Young Hero Fang, I trust you’ve been well. I didn’t expect we’d be seeing each other again so soon."
Fang Can looked at the powerfully built, middle-aged man before him. He wore a simple, slate-blue, arrow-sleeved satin robe. Fang Can had met him once before, just a few days ago.
Fang Can’s voice was hoarse. "I didn’t expect it either," he said. "That the first Fourth Turn to come after me would be none other than Sect Leader Sha of the Inversion Sect."
"Haha, what can I say? I’m just fulfilling a request."
