Chapter 805: Destruction of Property
Chapter 805: Chapter 805: Destruction of Property
Kain still wasn’t ready to go to bed, resolved that this long night wasn’t going to be put to an end quite yet. Kain stood at the lake’s edge, his silhouette sharp against the glowing surface, where the Serafins wove trails of pale gold beneath the water. The estate was quiet, save for the distant hum of the evolved Vespid guards buzzing around their Queen’s new form in excitement and the soft rustle of leaves stirred by a breeze.
In his hand, the Lotus of Silent Law pulsed faintly, its crystalline petals catching the starlight like a prism. Since he knew the time limit for the Lotus to be effective was going down with each passing breath, he figured that rest could be caught up another time. His contracts could start realizing the law right now!
He knelt by the lake, the grass cool against his knees, and lifted the lotus from his storage ring. Its six crystalline petals glowed with a soft, otherworldly light, each veined with hair-thin sigils that seemed to shift when he wasn’t looking directly at them. The placard’s description echoed in his mind: a temporary locus of law-clarity, suppressing ambient spiritual noise and amplifying attunement to a chosen law. However the effect was best for laws related to the Earth, Life, Plant, and Light. For Aegis, with his Earth and Abyssal attributes, and Queen, with her Life and Wind, this was a perfect catalyst. Even Bea and Vauleth, less aligned with the lotus’s attributes, could benefit from its calming influence.
Kain channelled a thread of spiritual power into the lotus, following the instructions etched into the placard he received after the exchange was complete. The flower hummed, its petals unfolding slightly, and he lowered it into the lake. The water parted with a soft ripple, accepting the lotus as if it belonged there. As it sank, its glow intensified, spreading a serene pulse across the lake’s surface. The Serafins and other ornamental spiritual fish Kain had brought back to decorate the lake darted away, then circled back, drawn to the new energy. The air around the lake grew still, as if the world had taken a breath and held it. Kain’s senses sharpened; the usual hum of spiritual currents—Pangea’s pulse, the distant buzz of his contracts—faded to a whisper. The lotus had created a sanctuary of clarity.
His contracts, which had already been released from the star space, immediately approached the lake’s edge out of interest. Queen’s HiveField proto-domain already seemed to be thicker and more stable, but Kain wasn’t sure if the change was just a trick of his overley optimistic mind.
Aegis rumbled, a deep, geological pulse that seemed to anchor itself to the lotus’s Earth affinity.
Bea’s mental threads tightened, her Pale Thought Field aligning with the quieted space.
Even Vauleth, ever aloof, flicked his tail with interest.
Kain allowed himself a small smile. “This is it,” he murmured. “Six months to make you all step into the realm of a Domain.”
But tonight wasn’t just about the lotus. Queen’s evolution had cascaded to her five surviving Vespid guards, transforming them from Platinum-quality Verdant Vespid Sentinels into Diamond-quality Aurelian Khepri Vespid Sentinels. Their new forms and abilities, tied to Queen’s Khepri lineage obtained from the Amber of Khepri and Eve’s strong life-attribute influence, needed testing.
Kain stepped away from the lake, moving to a nearby clearing where he could ensure their next movements wouldn’t interfere with Queen, Aegis, Bea, and Vauleth trying to comprehend a new law.
The five emerald-green wasps followed him familiarly, their carapaces gleaming with amber veins that caught the starlight like molten gold. Their bodies were larger now, each now almost a head taller than Kain, with sleek, armored exoskeletons that shimmered with a subtle iridescence.
Their wings, translucent and veined with the same amber patterns, thrummed with a low, resonant hum that vibrated the air. Their stingers were now thicker, segmented, and faintly glowing with life-wind energy while rotating, hinting at their enhanced destructive potential. The guards’ eyes, multifaceted and glinting like polished gems, locked onto Kain with unwavering loyalty, their movements synchronized as if guided by an unseen conductor.
“Alright,” Kain said, his voice steady. “Let’s see what you can do now. Guard One versus Guard Two. Guard Three versus Guard Four. Guard Five, you’ll challenge the winners. Chewy, stay ready to replenish their energy.” The spore, hovering nearby, pulsed in acknowledgment, its body already swelling slightly as it absorbed stray energy from the air. Unfortunately, it was still too weak to attempt to realize a domain. Even Queen, since she hadn’t yet broken through to blue grade, was a little premature in her attempt to realize a domain, but Kain figured it was worth a try given the proto-domain designation of one of her skills. However, if not much progress was made, Kain will have her take a few days off to prioritize breaking through before using the lotus again.
On his signal, Guard One and Guard Two took to the air, their wings blurring into a storm of motion. The clearing erupted into a high-speed aerial duel, the guards weaving and diving with a grace that belied their size.
Guard One’s stinger extended, and with a sharp buzz, it unleashed Sovereign Sting Drill (SSS). A glowing stingers shot forward, rotating rapidly due to the wind-attribute energy it carried that tore through the air with a screech. The life-wind energy infused in the stinger left a trail of green light, the barrage so powerful it seemed to bend the space around it like the weight of the strike was enough to effect gravity around it.
Guard Two also fired a stinger after being hit. But not at the opponent. Instead it fired the stinger at a tree at the edge of the clearing nearby.
’Huh?’
Then Kain saw the leaves of the tree begin to brown and wither by the second.
’Huh? HUUHH?!! NONONONO! Who said you can destroy my Scaled DragonFruit Tree! They are so expensive to replace!’
