This Bad Luck is Awesome!
Chapter 353: Xia Shiqing: Xu Xiyue Is a Good Match for You
‘He probably wants his company to get some publicity too.’
‘No wonder the marketing director came to my office to report on this as soon as I arrived.’
“Hmm, it’s true. Don’t worry too much about it. Just use our official blog to share the announcement. You can write the copy yourself, just don’t make it too over-the-top.”
“If any reporters come looking for an interview, don’t come get me. You handle it. I’m sure you know what to say.”
Chen Mo glanced at the marketing director and gave his casual instructions.
Panshi Venture Capital was a different kind of company than Wu Zicong’s or Tang Tianyu’s.
Their businesses were public-facing.
Panshi Venture Capital, on the other hand, was a venture capital firm that dealt with capital and entrepreneurs.
So, riding this wave of popularity wouldn’t be much help to Panshi Venture Capital.
‘It’s not like entrepreneurs are going to flock to my company for funding just because of this, right?’ ℯ
‘That would be a bit unrealistic.’
Besides, he didn’t want to become a public figure, so he had no interest in doing interviews.
‘The marketing director oversees the PR department anyway. I’ll just let her handle it. I’m sure she can manage it well.’
“Understood, President Chen.”
The marketing director understood Chen Mo’s intentions and respectfully left his office.
She had to go back and prepare a mental draft of what she would say.
After the marketing director left, Chen Mo went back to looking at the trending topics.
There was a trending topic about the Outstanding Contribution Award. Many people didn’t know what it was for.
Below, some experts had posted comments explaining that the criteria for receiving an Outstanding Contribution Award varied by industry.
But there was no doubt that the award given by this particular department was highly prestigious.
They listed the various benefits one could get, and so on.
RING~
Just as Chen Mo was reading, his phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from Wu Zicong.
“Hello? I saw your interview, Brother Wu. You were positively glowing.”
Chen Mo answered the call and immediately started teasing him.
“Of course! A happy occasion puts a spring in your step.”
Wu Zicong was in a great mood and replied with a laugh.
“Chen Mo, I really rode your coattails this time. If you ever need a favor in the future, just say the word.”
“You liked my yacht, right? Next time you want to take a girl out to sea, just take it and use it!”
Wu Zicong hadn’t forgotten who the real “enthusiastic citizen” was. He was calling specifically to thank Chen Mo.
“And here I thought you were going to give it to me.”
Chen Mo joked with a laugh.
“You’re a handsome guy, but your fantasy is even more beautiful.”
Wu Zicong laughed as well, teasing back.
“By the way, I heard you invested in a game project a while back?”
Wu Zicong seemed to have remembered something and asked over the phone.
“How do you even know about that?”
Chen Mo asked, his voice filled with surprise.
“It’s a hot topic in your VC circle. I wasn’t paying attention at first, but I took a special interest when I heard Panshi Venture Capital was involved.”
“Take a piece of advice from your big brother: that game isn’t worth the investment. It has no potential.”
Wu Zicong gave Chen Mo a well-intentioned warning.
“Thanks, but I know what I’m doing.”
Chen Mo thanked him, but ‘of course I know whether the game is worth investing in or not.’
Hearing this, and seeing Chen Mo’s insistence, Wu Zicong didn’t press the issue.
After all, Chen Mo had only invested one million. It wouldn’t be a huge loss even if he lost it all.
After chatting for a bit longer, Wu Zicong hung up.
But no sooner had he hung up than Tang Tianyu called.
“Hello? Brother Tang, your stance is rock solid, huh?”
Chen Mo answered the phone with a teasing remark.
“Does it even need to be said? Thanks for this one, Chen Mo.”
Tang Tianyu chuckled, knowing Chen Mo had seen his post.
“You’re too kind, Brother Tang. If you hadn’t taken me sea fishing, I never would have caught that thing.”
Chen Mo smiled. He knew Tang Tianyu genuinely wanted to help him break into his social circle.
So he was quite grateful to Tang Tianyu.
“Now that you mention it, I guess I do deserve some of the credit, haha.”
Hearing that, Tang Tianyu accepted the honor with a clear conscience.
“But still, your big brother thanks you. If you take a liking to any of the artists or influencers under my company, just let me know. I’ll see if I can arrange something for you.”
“Not the really famous ones, though. I have to make that clear upfront.”
Tang Tianyu thought for a moment, then said to Chen Mo in a low voice.
“We’ll see. I’m afraid I might cause a career-ending scandal for you.”
Chen Mo shook his head with a smile and made a lighthearted jab.
‘Not everyone is willing to play by those rules.’
‘If things turned ugly, how awkward would that be?’
“Who am I afraid of, besides your sister-in-law?”
Tang Tianyu said, sounding both cowardly and arrogant.
Hearing this, Chen Mo couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
‘He throws a party on the ocean, but all he can do is fish. He didn’t even dare to touch the women he brought with him.’
‘You could really tell he was scared of his wife.’
After chatting for a while, he hung up the phone.
BEEP~
“Chen Mo, I’m in a meeting, so it’s not convenient to call and thank you. I really owe you big time for this.”
“The brand is planning to promote me. Once this busy period is over, I’ll treat you to a meal.”
Just then, Old Zhang also sent him a thank-you message on WeChat.
“You’re too kind.”
Chen Mo replied with a smile.
“Filming for the show officially starts today. The producer is my guy. If you have any ideas, just tell me directly. As long as it doesn’t change the overall direction, you can change the minor scripts as you like.”
“If you want to go watch on set, just contact him directly. I’ll send you his contact info.”
Old Zhang continued to chat with Chen Mo about the show.
“Great, I was just thinking of going to check it out.”
Seeing the contact information he sent, Chen Mo nodded and replied.
“Don’t worry. With me here, no one on the show will dare bully your little sister-in-law.”
“Then I’m definitely not worried.”
After discussing some details about the show with him, Chen Mo took out the certificate that Xiaozhang had delivered last time from a locked drawer.
“Come to my office.”
Chen Mo sent a WeChat message to his finance director.
“Yes, President Chen. I’ll be right there.”
The finance director replied to his WeChat message immediately.
Before long, the finance director knocked and entered his office.
“Let’s go. We’re going to the tax department to discuss tax incentives.”
Chen Mo stood up, gathering the certificate and related documents, and spoke to him.
“Yes, President Chen! President Chen, you’re incredible!”
The finance director looked at Chen Mo with admiration and couldn’t help but give him a thumbs-up.
Chen Mo had quietly gone out to sea, fished up a spy device, and even received an Outstanding Contribution Award.
This could indeed allow the company to receive a certain degree of tax relief.
It was a huge boon for the company.
Paying less in taxes meant the company’s funds would naturally be more plentiful, allowing it to invest in more projects.
It could create a virtuous cycle for the company.
‘I just wonder what kind of tax incentives the department will offer.’
In fact, Chen Mo didn’t know how much of a tax break he could get either.
But he had a hunch that there might be a pleasant surprise in store.
