Chapter 261: Chapter 150: Xia Shiqing Tears a Female Executive to Shreds, Fiercely Protecting Her Husband

"What’s everyone gathered here for?"

Just then, a middle-aged woman with short hair, around forty years old, overheard their discussion and frowned.

"Good morning, Minister Wan."

The group immediately greeted the middle-aged woman.

Her name was Wan Fang, the other deputy minister of the Self-Operated Investment Department, holding the same rank as Xia Shiqing.

Wan Fang shot them a cold glance before taking her mug and heading toward the breakroom.

"Minister Wan is in a terrible mood. Looks like she didn’t spend the night with her husband."

"Not necessarily. Maybe she’s in a bad mood precisely *because* she spent the night with him."

"That makes sense."

The group quickly dispersed and returned to their desks.

In the breakroom, Xia Shiqing was washing her mug.

When Wan Fang came in and saw Xia Shiqing, she was momentarily taken aback, and her expression immediately grew colder.

"I heard your boyfriend drove you to work this morning, Minister Xia? And you two shared a goodbye kiss in the garage? It’s fine for you young people to be affectionate, but don’t bring your private life to the office where it affects your work. All the subordinates are talking about it..."

Recalling the gossip she’d just overheard from the employees, Wan Fang couldn’t resist making a barbed comment.

She couldn’t stand Xia Shiqing. Not only was she beautiful with a great figure, but her performance was also outstanding.

When Xia Shiqing was promoted from supervisor to deputy minister, Wan Fang hadn’t thought much of it.

But a while ago, the chairman had actually suggested that Xia Shiqing take over as minister. That was something she couldn’t accept.

’How long has she been deputy minister, and now she’s going to climb right over my head to become the minister?’

What was even more unacceptable was that after Xia Shiqing explicitly refused the offer, the chairman preferred to let the current minister stay on rather than even consider her for the position.

This completely broke her composure. She couldn’t stand Xia Shiqing, a whirlwind of envy, jealousy, and resentment.

Someone so young was about to climb over her head. She couldn’t tolerate it, so she used this opportunity to take a few jabs at her.

Normally, she wouldn’t say something so classless, but her mindset had become somewhat warped.

Xia Shiqing recognized the passive-aggressive digs in the other woman’s words, but she was in a good mood today and couldn’t be bothered to deal with her.

She continued washing her mug, saying nothing.

Seeing that Xia Shiqing was ignoring her, Wan Fang grew even more irritated.

"Young people shouldn’t get arrogant just because they’ve achieved a little something. Who here didn’t get to their position through performance?"

"Besides, some people know perfectly well how they really got their results."

Wan Fang said snidely, her words becoming more and more outrageous.

"So?"

Xia Shiqing asked coolly, without even turning her head.

Wan Fang’s words had absolutely no effect on her.

She couldn’t care less about any of it.

As long as her performance was genuine, that was all that mattered.

"So? You rely completely on others. Who will you rely on when they kick you to the curb one day?"

Seeing Xia Shiqing’s unfazed expression, Wan Fang became flustered, and her words turned irrational.

"We’ll see when that day comes."

Xia Shiqing said in a flat tone.

She finished washing her mug and started to pour her coffee.

"Your boyfriend is that Chen Mo who used to be an intern here, right? I took one look at his face and could tell he’s no good."

"Hiding his identity to intern here just to chase you—a guy like that is far too scheming!"

When Wan Fang saw Xia Shiqing’s continued indifference—an attitude that clearly showed she wasn’t being taken seriously—she started to lose her cool and launched into a personal attack on Chen Mo.

In truth, she had no real impression of Chen Mo; she couldn’t even remember what he looked like.

She was just saying it to be malicious.

"What did you say?"

Hearing this, Xia Shiqing spun around, looking down at her as she questioned her coldly.

"I said he looks like no good, and he’s far too scheming!"

Wan Fang, not yet realizing the gravity of the situation, repeated herself emphatically.

"SLAP—"

Xia Shiqing swung her hand around and slapped Wan Fang squarely across the face.

The slap left Wan Fang completely stunned.

’She... she actually dared to hit me? Here, at the office?!’

An unconcealed fury was plain on Xia Shiqing’s beautiful face, and her eyes were filled with ice.

When Wan Fang was being passive-aggressive toward her, she didn’t care and didn’t take it to heart.

But she would absolutely not allow Wan Fang to speak ill of Chen Mo!

Chen Mo was her boyfriend, and the best boyfriend in the world.

He was the man she thought about every day, the one who had completely captured her heart.

If Wan Fang dared to bad-mouth Chen Mo, she would teach her a lesson.

No matter the consequences, she would deal with her first and worry about the rest later!
