Thirty Days to Hoard: Reborn into the Frost
Chapter 113
After saying this, Ma Dongmei said to Xu Xiaoka, “Miss Xu, please come with me.”
Xu Xiaoka had never stayed in such a luxurious room before. She pinched herself hard, half-convinced she was dreaming.
“Sister Momo, I’ll head over with the housekeeper first!” Xu Xiaoka said happily.
Once Xu Xiaoka left, Chen Xiaobao came running over, his little feet going PATTER PATTER. He smiled brightly and said, “Mommy, this house is so pweety! Let’s live here forever and never leave, okay?”
Chen Momo hesitated. “Uh, sweetie, this is Uncle’s home, not ours.”
Chen Xiaobao tilted his head and said innocently, “I weally like Uncle Beiming.”
Chen Momo rolled her eyes at him. “There are a lot of uncles you like. Go to sleep early, and stop trying to play matchmaker for me.”
Chen Xiaobao pouted his little mouth. “Oh, alright.”
Chen Xiaobao had been sleeping in his own room since he was three. The main reason Chen Momo had him sleep alone was to foster his independence. Tonight, however, the mother and son were sharing a room again.
Resting his little head in Chen Momo’s embrace, Chen Xiaobao felt incredibly happy. It had been a long time since he had cuddled with his mommy like this.
“Mommy, can you tell Xiao Bao a story?” Chen Xiaobao asked, his big eyes sparkling.
Chen Momo nodded. “Sure. How about Mommy tells you a story about a little bunny?”
“Yay!” Chen Xiaobao cheered.
Chen Momo cleared her throat and began to tell him the story. “Once upon a time, there was a little bunny named Little White. Little White loved eating carrots more than anything. One day, Little White went out to the field to pull some carrots, and ran into a fox coming the other way…”
In his own room, Beiming Qianye lay in bed, listening to the gentle female voice narrating a story about a little bunny. An involuntary smile appeared on his lips.
Living alone as he usually did, Beiming Qianye would always feel a massive void in his heart whenever night fell. He never knew what that missing piece was, but knowing that Chen Momo and her son were right next door, and hearing her gentle voice transmitting through the intercom monitor, he suddenly felt incredibly at peace.
He had never felt so grounded. Now, he seemed to finally understand exactly what had been missing from his heart!
Early the next morning, it was eight o’clock and the sun was fully up.
Chen Momo finally had the chance to carefully examine the mansion. If she hadn’t had the time to appreciate its luxury last night, opening her eyes this morning allowed her to scrutinize the estate in exquisite detail.
The massive residence was luxurious yet understated, majestic and grand, much like a royal palace. The entrance was guarded by several soldiers bearing rifles. Inside, roughly twenty maids bustled back and forth. Each maid had a quiet demeanor and was clearly highly trained; they didn’t speak a single unnecessary word, focusing entirely on their tasks without letting their gazes wander.
It was obvious at a glance that everyone here, from top to bottom, had undergone strict training.
“You’re awake?” A pleasant voice rang out behind her.
Chen Momo turned around and saw Beiming Qianye walking toward her.
Perhaps because he was at home, his attire wasn’t quite as formal today. A simple white shirt paired with casual black trousers made him look relaxed and at ease. His face, with features seemingly carved by a master sculptor, was so breathtakingly handsome that one couldn’t look away.
Chen Momo stared at his face, zoning out for a moment before she managed to pull her gaze away and say, “Good morning.”
“Good morning.” Beiming Qianye offered her a faint smile. The deep tenderness in his eyes felt like it could melt her on the spot.
For some unknown reason, Chen Momo’s cheeks flushed, and she hurriedly averted her eyes.
Beside them, Chen Xiaobao chimed in with his sweet, childish voice, “Good morning, Uncle. You look so handsome today!”
Beiming Qianye couldn’t help but smile as he bent down and scooped Xiao Bao up into his arms.
He usually disliked staying here. Living alone in such an enormous place lacked any semblance of vitality. Especially at night, when everything was dead silent, lying alone in an isolated, massive room made him feel as if he were about to fall into a giant black hole.
But with Xiao Bao here, it was entirely different. The child’s constant, cheerful chattering instantly chased away the dead silence. He had heard that children represented life and vitality, and it seemed that was absolutely true.
“Xiao Bao is such a sweet talker.” Beiming Qianye affectionately pinched the little boy’s cheek.
Xiao Bao leaned close to Beiming Qianye’s ear and whispered, “Uncle, is my mommy pweety?”
Hearing this, Chen Momo immediately glared at her son. She wondered what on earth this little brat was doing.
To her surprise, Beiming Qianye actually answered Xiao Bao in complete earnest. “She is pretty.”
Xiao Bao leaned even closer to Beiming Qianye’s ear and whispered conspiratorially, “I’ll tell you a secwet. Mommy’s face just got weally wed! She must have been shy seeing you. Hehehe.”
The little rascal’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was just loud enough for Chen Momo to hear. She was so angry she almost fainted, thinking bitterly that this brat was only good at selling out his own mother.
Sensing that Chen Momo would be embarrassed, Beiming Qianye merely chuckled and deliberately kept his eyes off her to spare her from further awkwardness.
“How about Uncle takes you to get some breakfast?” Beiming Qianye asked Xiao Bao gently.
Xiao Bao’s eyes lit up at the mention of food. He nodded eagerly and cheered, “Yes! Xiao Bao wants bweakfast!”
Beiming Qianye looked back at Chen Momo and said, “Come join us for breakfast.”
Chen Momo nodded. “Okay.”
Thus, Beiming Qianye carried Chen Xiaobao while Chen Momo followed closely behind as they headed to the dining room.
The moment she saw the dining table, Chen Momo was thoroughly shocked. Spread across the massive table were no fewer than seventeen or eighteen different breakfast dishes. From cereals to eggs, there was an incredibly diverse array of options without a single duplicate! Moreover, they were all fresh and steaming hot, clearly having just been prepared!
Setting Chen Xiaobao down on a chair, Beiming Qianye smiled and explained to Chen Momo, “I usually eat very simply when I’m on my own. But children are still growing, so they need a fully balanced diet. I had the kitchen prepare this breakfast according to standard nutritional guidelines.”
Xu Xiaoka, who had also arrived, was equally dumbfounded by the lavish spread. She couldn’t help swallowing hard.
Leaning in close to Chen Momo’s ear, she whispered, “Sister Momo, the Chief really cares about you and Xiao Bao! Just look at this breakfast! I really wish I could live here forever!”
Furthermore, Xu Xiaoka felt incredibly safe staying here. After all, this was Beiming Qianye’s private estate—a highly secure location where they didn’t have to worry about running into all sorts of shady characters, unlike when they lived at the base!
