Chapter 102 -101: Playing Tricks 3

“Just do as I said,” Gu Rongjin said, glancing at Liu Huichun before hurriedly leaving the scene.

The cold wind gradually restored Gu Rongjin’s composure.

“It must be because I’ve been single for too long,” Gu Rongjin thought.

It was absolutely impossible for him to have any feelings for Chen Momo. The only woman he had ever loved, who was also his ex-girlfriend, was An Qingqing. An Qingqing had an IQ of 170 and was a top student at a prestigious university. She was beautiful, fair-skinned, and possessed an extraordinary elegance. Ever since An Qingqing fell for someone else, Gu Rongjin had never liked another woman.

Chen Momo, a mere housewife who only knew how to make pickled cabbage fish, obviously couldn’t compare to An Qingqing.

Three days before the official showdown.

Today, Chen Momo and Xu Xiaoka were busy at their window. A long line had already formed in front of it. Not wanting to disturb his mother and Xu Xiaoka’s business, Chen Xiaobao quietly slipped out of the locker room.

The cafeteria’s restroom was just two hundred meters away. Chen Xiaobao readied his electric slingshot; if anyone dared to bully him, he would shoot them with it.

TAP TAP TAP. Chen Xiaobao ran out of the restroom, only to be stopped by a smiling young woman.

“Your name is Xiao Bao, right?” Liu Xiuxiu asked, blocking Chen Xiaobao’s path while feigning a friendly demeanor.

Right now, the cafeteria was crowded. With so many eyes on her, she couldn’t risk drawing attention, so she had to play the part of a friendly older sister.

Chen Xiaobao tightened his grip on his slingshot and frowned. “What is it?”

This was the lady from the Japanese ramen stand diagonally opposite their window. Chen Xiaobao remembered her very clearly. She didn’t seem like a good person at all. She frequently huddled together with that other woman from the ramen window, staring at his mommy with fierce glares. Chen Xiaobao had caught them doing it several times.

Liu Xiuxiu offered a hypocritical compliment. “You’re so cute! I really like you.”

“Oh,” Chen Xiaobao replied coldly.

Chen Xiaobao thought, “I might be young, but I’m not stupid. Her acting is so fake. Does she really think I’d fall for it?”

Pulling a fragrant bag of cookies from her pocket and maintaining her friendly facade, Liu Xiuxiu said to Xiao Bao, “These are cookies I made myself. They’re strawberry milk flavored and super delicious. Since you’re so cute, how about I give them to you?”

Chen Xiaobao thought, “One who offers sudden favors is up to no good. There must be something wrong with these cookies.”

So, his big eyes darting around, Chen Xiaobao flashed a sweet smile. “Okay! Thank you.”

Liu Xiuxiu thought her scheme had succeeded. It seemed she really was brilliant; targeting a child was indeed the easiest approach!

Zhang Wanwan had stayed up late making this batch of cookies, which were laced with arsenic. Just one piece would be enough to make a little kid foam at the mouth. When Chen Xiaobao got food poisoning, Chen Momo would undoubtedly be too busy taking care of her only son to attend the final showdown! Then, not only would she earn ten thousand base credits, but she would also keep her job!

Gloating inwardly, Liu Xiuxiu feigned kindness as she took out a cookie and held it to Xiao Bao’s lips. “How about I feed you one right now?”

Unexpectedly, Xiao Bao was very clever. Flashing a sweet, innocent smile, he firmly pushed the cookie in Liu Xiuxiu’s hand toward her own mouth. “I’m still little, but I have to be polite. You should eat the cookie first.”

Liu Xiuxiu was speechless.

Of course, there was no way she was going to eat it.

“If you won’t eat it, then I won’t either!” Xiao Bao said, turning his head as if to run away.

Liu Xiuxiu hadn’t expected the kid to be so uncooperative. The cafeteria was packed with people right now, and if she lingered with him for too long, Chen Momo would definitely spot them. Left with no choice, Liu Xiuxiu simply shoved the whole bag of cookies into Xiao Bao’s hands and urged, “Then make sure you eat them when you get back, okay? Also, you have to eat them in secret. Don’t tell your mom, or I’ll get angry.”

Xiao Bao giggled and ran back. As soon as he returned, he handed the cookies over to Chen Momo.

“Mommy, the lady from the Japanese ramen stand gave me these. She told me not to tell you and to eat them in secret,” Chen Xiaobao said.

Xu Xiaoka looked at the cookies and frowned. “People who offer sudden favors are always up to no good. Sister Momo, there has to be something wrong with these cookies!”

“Let’s keep them as evidence for now,” Chen Momo said. Giving her son a bag of cookies out of the blue—she didn’t even have to think about it to know they harbored ill intentions.

After returning home that night, Chen Momo deliberately crumbled a cookie and fed it to a fish.

The crumbs were obviously very fragrant, as the fish quickly swam over to eat them. But not long after, the fish flipped over, revealing its white belly as it floated dead on the surface of the water.

Xu Xiaoka was furious upon seeing this. “The people across from us are terrifying! To actually poison the cookies… They’ll resort to any dirty trick just to win. No, I’m going to find the base chief. I have to tell him about this so they receive the punishment they deserve!”

Seeing the poisoned fish, Chen Momo’s heart also sank. She had known there was something wrong with the cookies, but she never expected their rivals to be so ruthless as to actually poison them.

You could know a person’s face, but never their heart.

Her son was her sole motivation for living. If anyone dared to hurt her son, she would ensure they died a gruesome death!

“Don’t act rashly just yet,” Chen Momo said coldly. “They poisoned the cookies with malicious intent, and we absolutely cannot let them off easily. In times like this, it’s all the more crucial that we stay calm and gather more evidence. We’re going to make sure they never have a place in Han City Base again!”

“Sister Momo, what do you mean?” Xu Xiaoka asked in surprise.

“From what I know,” Chen Momo replied icily, “to ensure their Japanese ramen wins, they’ve added plenty of harmful substances into their broth, completely disregarding the health and safety of their customers. Right now, we need to acquire a sample of their ramen. We’ll take it along with these cookies to get tested. We have to prove that not only did they poison the cookies, but they also poisoned the food they served their customers, treating human lives as worthless just to make a profit.”

“Right, there’s definitely something wrong with their ramen!” Xu Xiaoka agreed. “I’ve heard numerous customers complain about feeling unwell after eating it! If these people are brazen enough to poison cookies, what else wouldn’t they do to win?”

Therefore, the next day, Chen Momo quietly hired someone to buy a portion of ramen from the Japanese ramen window. She then handed both the ramen and the cookies they had given Xiao Bao over to Gu Rongjin.

After listening to Chen Momo explain the entire situation, Gu Rongjin remained expressionless. He believed that Zhang Wanwan was a woman desperate to win, but to poison ramen and cookies?

That was completely deranged.

“I’ll have the cookies and ramen tested,” Gu Rongjin said. “If what you say is true, then Zhang Wanwan has already threatened the lives and safety of the base’s residents. She will undoubtedly face severe punishment.”
