My head throbbed with a dull, agonizing ache, as if someone had hammered a spike directly into my skull.

Slowly, I forced my eyes open. The blinding static that had consumed my vision during the neural backlash was gone, replaced by a soft, ethereal luminescence.

I was lying on a smooth, obsidian platform suspended in what looked like an endless, star-draped void. The air smelled crisp, devoid of the smoke, sulfur, and copper reek of the falling Academy.

Memory flooded back in sharp, jagged fragments. Administrator Mode. The hammer demon. Saving Sira’s pulse. The timer hitting zero.

I pushed myself up into a sitting position, my muscles stiff and exhausted. "Where...?"

"So you’re finally awake, huh?"

I instantly tensed, my head snapping toward the sound of the voice.

Standing a few paces away at the edge of the platform was a middle-aged woman. Long, liquid-silver hair fell over her shoulders, and her striking crimson eyes burned with an unsettling, otherworldly depth. She turned toward me, a faint, unreadable smirk curving her lips.

I narrowed my eyes, dropping into a low, cautious stance despite the dull ache in my core.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice raspy. "Where am I? Why am I here... and what happened to Sira and the others?"

The woman crossed her arms, letting out a soft, amused breath.

"You just dragged your own soul back from the brink of neural burnout, and the first thing you ask about is your friends? You shouldn’t be worrying about them right now, kid. You need to be worrying about yourself."

"That doesn’t answer my questions," I said coldly, my fingers twitching toward Oathstorm’s hilt, only to realize my sword wasn’t at my hip.

She sighed, rolling her eyes with a casual air that felt completely out of place in this void.

"They’ll be fine. Regardless of what you do, their fates are already locked in motion. Because—"

Before she could finish her sentence, a violent tremor violently convulsed through her entire frame.

It wasn’t a physical spasm. Her form briefly glitched, jagged streaks of gold and crimson static tearing across her silhouette as if reality itself were trying to rewrite her existence.

She stumbled back a step, her jaw clenching so hard her teeth audibly ground together.

"Tch... fuck those higher-dimensional bastard gods..." she hissed through grit teeth, forcing the static back down until her form stabilized.

My eyes narrowed into thin slits. High-dimensional? What is she talking about?

She straightened her back, letting out a long, heavy exhale as she brushed a strand of silver hair from her face.

"See? World Rules are a real pain in the ass. I can’t tell you more than that. All you need to know is that you have to survive."

She took a step toward me, her heels clicking against the smooth obsidian floor.

"The name’s Yuki," she said, looking straight into my eyes with an intense, unyielding gaze. "I can’t give you the full blueprint just yet, but... let’s just say I’m your predecessor."

I froze in my tracks.

Predecessor?

The word echoed in my mind like a thunderclap.

She held the Debugger Class before me?

"You’re running around with a primitive version of the interface, Jin," Yuki continued, stepping right up into my space. "Fighting low-rank demons like a common mercenary and burning out your neural pathways just to scrape by. It’s embarrassing. It’s time for you to actually awaken your real power."

Before I could ask a single question, Yuki reached out. Her slender hand moved faster than my perception could follow, her index finger pressing directly against the center of my forehead.

My vision spun out of control. It felt as if millions of gigabytes of raw, unfiltered code, spatial formulas, and ancient authority parameters were being forcibly shoved straight into my brain stem.

The pressure against my forehead didn’t feel like a physical touch, it felt like an iron stake being driven directly through my frontal lobe.

My screams were trapped in my throat as millions of cascading lines of golden and pitch-black code rushed through my neural pathways, burning through my core like liquid fire.

My mind shattered into a thousand jagged pieces, only to be forcibly dragged back together and rewritten from the ground up.

In my failing vision, translucent system overlays flickered violently, throwing error messages faster than my eyes could process:

[CRITICAL SYSTEM OVERWRITE DETECTED]

[Unknown Data Transfer: 12%... 34%... 68%...]

[WARNING: Host Neural Architecture Cannot Sustain Immediate Assimilation!]

[Emergency Safety Protocol Triggered: Entering Deep Stasis Mode...]

"Don’t fight it, kid," Yuki’s voice sounded distant now, muffled as if traveling through miles of deep water.

"Your mind needs time to digest the core. If you try to wake up now, your brain will literally melt inside your skull."

Stasis...? No... wait—

I tried to reach out, to grab her, to demand answers about how long I would be gone, but my arms felt like they were cast in lead. The floating obsidian platform beneath my feet dissolved into nothingness, and I began to fall through the star-draped void.

The roaring noise of the data transfer gradually softened, replaced by a profound, terrifying silence. The burning sensation in my head dulled into a heavy, cold numbness that seeped deep into my bones.

I couldn’t feel my fingers. I couldn’t feel Oathstorm. I couldn’t feel the crackle of my dark lightning.

Images flickered across the dark canvas of my mind, Sira breathing weakly on the stone floor, Emma’s terrified scream as the stairwell collapsed, the sky bleeding violet over the Academy, and the horde of demons tearing through the realm.

The world outside was burning, my friends were fighting for their lives, and I was being dragged into the dark depths of an forced slumber.

[Assimilation Period: Indefinite.]

[System Entering Deep Hibernation.]

"Fuck..." I managed one last internal curse as the last light of the void winked out.

My consciousness sank into the cold, suffocating abyss, freezing into a deep, uninterrupted slumber while the world above turned to ash.
