Chapter 374: Chapter 374

"Hahahaha—!"

Wild laughter rang out from a certain Death Eater fleeing desperately through the night sky.

It was sharp and shrill, echoing overhead like the frantic cawing of a strangled crow.

There was near-manic triumph in that laughter, as though he had accomplished some earth-shattering feat rather than merely blown up a shop.

The laughing Death Eater was riding a Silver Arrow Flying Broomstick, leaning low over the handle with his body pressed close to the shaft.

His wand remained in his hand, its tip pointed behind him, ready to fire at any moment.

But his attention was not on what lay behind him. He was certain no one could catch up.

He had already flown out of Diagon Alley, passed over the roof of the Leaky Cauldron, and was heading toward East London.

In just a few more minutes, he would be able to use Apparition to leave the area, return to a safe hideout, and receive a reward from the Dark Lord.

"Shut up, Credian!"

Another voice came from beside him, sharp and urgent, like a bucket of cold water poured over his wild laughter.

It belonged to a leaner Death Eater riding the same model of Silver Arrow Flying Broomstick. His hood was pulled low, concealing most of his face. His hoarse voice carried barely restrained anger.

"Do you want to draw those damned Aurors here?!"

Credian turned his head, glanced at his companion, and curled his lip in disdain.

"The Master’s mission is finished anyway," he said carelessly. "If the Aurors come, we’ll just kill them all and see who else dares to oppose the Dark Lord."

He spoke with such piety that he sounded like a truly devout follower of Lord Voldemort.

"You—"

The other Death Eater wanted to say more, but his voice suddenly caught in his throat.

"Oh? Is that so?"

A cold, emotionless voice sounded beside Credian’s ear.

It was not loud. Its tone was flat, devoid of any rise or fall, like a machine stating a fact.

But it was precisely that emotionless calm that made it more chilling than any roar.

Credian’s laughter stopped.

His eyes widened, and his pupils shrank to pinpoints.

He instinctively looked toward the source of the voice—

A burst of gold-and-red light exploded in his vision.

Within that light, an arm covered in black scales suddenly filled his sight.

It was too fast.

So fast that Credian saw only a black blur flash before his eyes.

So fast that his brain did not have time to process the fact that something was approaching.

So fast that his body could not react at all.

Bang—!

A dull impact rang out in the night sky.

It was not loud, but it was solid, like a fist slamming into a sandbag.

Credian felt the bridge of his nose shatter.

He heard bone crack in the center of his face. Warm liquid gushed from his nostrils, while an indescribable ache spread outward from the bridge of his nose.

Lynn had not used much force.

It was merely an ordinary punch. He had not even used the power of Thousand Refinements.

He was afraid that using too much force would kill the man instantly.

After all, he planned to take them back as punching bags for Edgar and the others.

But even that "ordinary" punch produced a startling result.

Both of Credian’s eyes rolled back, his pupils vanishing behind his upper eyelids.

His body jerked backward as he flew off his Flying Broomstick, plummeting toward the ground.

Having lost its rider, the broomstick wobbled in the air before beginning to fall as well.

Credian and his Flying Broomstick dropped one after the other, tracing crooked arcs through the night sky.

This sudden development stunned the remaining Death Eaters.

Only for a moment.

Not even a second.

But for people who dealt with death all year round, that moment was enough.

Long enough for them to see Lynn’s face clearly.

Long enough to recognize him.

Long enough for a single thought to flash through their minds.

Finished.

"It’s that little monster!"

A Death Eater’s voice burst from the middle of the group, filled with irrepressible terror.

"Avada Kedavra!"

His reaction was the fastest.

Before he had even finished speaking, his wand was raised, its tip pointed directly at Lynn.

A blinding green beam shot from the tip of his wand like an arrow loosed from a bow, streaking straight toward Lynn.

Without even checking whether the Killing Curse had struck its target, he jerked his Flying Broomstick upward and accelerated away.

With a simple sidestep, Lynn easily avoided the deadly spell.

The green light passed by his ear, close enough for him to feel its icy aura brush across his skin.

There were two types of people Lynn hated most in life.

Those who launched sneak attacks.

And those who did not allow him to launch sneak attacks.

He flicked his wand behind him, its tip tracing an arc through the air.

"Crucio!"

A crimson beam shot from the tip of his wand, so fast that it was nearly impossible to follow with the naked eye.

It carved a brilliant red trail across the night sky as it pursued the fleeing Death Eater.

The man heard the sound of the spell tearing through the air behind him.

He wanted to dodge, but his body was nowhere near as agile as Lynn’s. He could only twist desperately on his broom, trying to shift out of the spell’s path.

It was useless.

The crimson beam struck him squarely in the back.

"Ugh—!!"

The Death Eater’s body abruptly curled inward.

His back arched, his head snapped backward, and his mouth opened in a scream—but the sound caught in his throat, leaving only a short, strangled gasp.

Then his body began to twitch.

Like Credian, he fell straight from his Flying Broomstick.

Unlike Credian, he had not lost consciousness.

He remained awake as he fell, his screams growing weaker and weaker until they were swallowed by the night wind.

In less than a single exchange, two of the six Death Eaters had been taken down.

The remaining Death Eaters wasted no time. They waved their wands, firing spells at Lynn.

These spells were not launched randomly.

Their timing differed. Some were fast, others slow. Some flew straight, while others curved through the air.

They came at Lynn from different angles, heights, and intervals.

Some targeted his face.

Some targeted his chest.

Some blocked his retreat to the left, while others sealed off the right.

Among the Death Eaters Lynn had encountered, these people could be considered fairly competent.

Their spellwork was accurate, their timing was excellent, and their coordination was seamless.

Anyone else might truly have been hit by their attacks.

But Lynn was not anyone else.

His body turned gracefully through the night sky, like a leaf drifting in the wind.

The first spell passed over his left shoulder.

The second slipped beneath his right arm.

The third brushed over his head.

The fourth skimmed beneath his feet.

Every spell came close—close enough for him to feel the currents of air stirred by the beams as they passed.

But none struck him.

Not one.

After launching their attacks, the Death Eaters did not remain foolishly in place to watch how Lynn would respond.

They turned and followed the example of their companion, accelerating away.

Four directions.

Four black shadows.

Four Silver Arrow Flying Broomsticks cutting white trails through the night sky.

After avoiding the barrage of spells, Lynn shook his head as he watched the four Death Eaters scatter.

It was not a gesture of helplessness.

It was a sigh of reflection.

"If this had happened before, you might really have had a chance to escape," he said softly, as though speaking to himself.

"What a pity—"

Lynn sighed and waved his wand.

A few months ago, facing enemies fleeing in four different directions would indeed have been troublesome.

No matter how fast he was, he could only chase one of them. The other three might have escaped.

But now, things were different.

In the blink of an eye, his body split into four.

They wore identical robes, held identical wands, and bore identical expressions.

Their movements were perfectly synchronized. Even their breathing followed the same rhythm.

This was the ability Lynn had obtained from the last magical creature he fused with: the Metagot.

If not for Professor Ellis, Lynn would never have known that such a magical creature existed.

Through Lucius’s connections, he had managed to purchase one from a Persian merchant.

Lynn was very fond of the Metagot, and he had not expected to receive the ability he wanted on his very first attempt.

Of course, perhaps it was simply because this magical creature had few abilities beyond duplication.

But that was beside the point.

At that moment, the four "Lynns" pursued the four fleeing Death Eaters in different directions.

They were far faster than the Death Eaters.

So fast that the fleeing men only had time to hear the sound of air splitting behind them before discovering that Lynn had already appeared in front of them.

"You—!"

The first Death Eater managed only a single word.

"Crucio."

Lynn’s wand was already pressed against his chest.

The crimson beam sank into his body. His eyes widened, and his mouth opened in a scream, but the sound remained trapped in his throat.

Then his body slipped from his Flying Broomstick and fell straight toward the ground.

The second Death Eater reacted a little faster.

The moment he saw Lynn appear in front of him, he did not freeze or waste time talking.

He immediately raised his wand and cast the Killing Curse.

But he was too slow.

Just as his wand came up, Lynn’s Expelliarmus had already arrived.

Clap—!

His wand flew from his hand, spinning through the air before landing in Lynn’s palm.

Zizizizi!

Lightning flashed through the night sky.

The Death Eater’s eyes rolled back, and he too slid from his Flying Broomstick.

Crackle! Pop! Boom!

The remaining Death Eaters were taken down by the four "Lynns" almost instantly.

From the moment the first Death Eater was punched in the nose to the moment the last one hit the ground, the entire process took less than a minute.

There was no helping it.

The disparity in strength was simply too great.

Although these Death Eaters were stronger than the ones Lynn had faced before, they had merely gone from being unable to withstand a single blow to barely lasting one round.

After that round, they still fell.

Still fainted.

Still ended up captured.

The four "Lynns" flew back from four directions and merged into one in midair.

Lynn hovered in the night sky, looking down at the Death Eaters sprawled across the ground before glancing toward the still-burning shop in the distance.

Truthfully, it was not quite satisfying enough.

But in order to give Edgar and the others more opportunities to train, Lynn ultimately decided to spare their lives.
