There Must Be Something Wrong With This Game!
Chapter 348: You Are All Trash
Chapter 348: Chapter 15: You Are All Trash
Although he told Cuihua not to worry, Duan Fei could see that he was clearly disheartened.
Socially anxious people are the most sensitive to others’ opinions. Even the slightest hint of disapproval can send them spiraling into self-blame, making them wonder if they’d done something wrong.
If Duan Fei were in the same situation, he’d just write it down in his little black book and find a chance to get revenge later.
But Cuihua could only try to work through it on his own. It would take him a long time to digest something so minor, and if it happened again, he might not get over it for days.
While Cuihua was still moping, a new menu item appeared on the wall: “Man-Han Banquet.”
“What the hell, he’s just looking for trouble!” Duan Fei roared. “Do you know how many dishes are in a Man-Han Banquet?! That Evil Corpse has to be doing this on purpose! Little Fatty, Cuihua, grab your weapons! We’re going down the mountain to slaughter that thieving Daoist!”
Even though Duan Fei was cursing his master, the Little Daoist knew that the Evil Corpse was just his master’s dark side. It didn’t have much to do with his actual master—at most, they were like strangers who shared the same parents.
Besides, that egg fried rice was genuinely delicious, but the Evil Corpse had belittled it as completely worthless. Now he was demanding a Man-Han Banquet. ‘The nerve of that guy!’
A Man-Han Banquet has one hundred and eight dishes. How many ingredients and how much work would it take to prepare all of them?
‘What is that Evil Corpse thinking?!’
Raising a hand to calm Duan Fei, the Little Daoist said, “Don’t panic. Listen to me. That Evil Corpse isn’t easy to fight. With ordinary methods, the more you hit it, the more it will enjoy it.”
“Then how do we fight it?”
“We have to break its spirit.”
“How do we kill it? How do we break it?”
“We need to find the Cultivation Chapter. It should contain the Evil Corpse’s weakness. After that, we’ll work together and give it a brutal beating.”
“Alright.” Duan Fei nodded firmly. “But how do we find the Cultivation Chapter?”
“I don’t know, but those ghosts and monsters should. And even if they don’t, we’ll make them tell us anyway.”
“Good. Let’s go.”
Leaving Little Fatty behind to comfort Cuihua, Duan Fei and the Little Daoist headed out again, running all the way to the Daoist Temple where the Divine Spirit once resided.
Once they arrived, the Little Daoist took out an Incense Stick and said to Duan Fei, “These are Invitation Incense sticks. Their fragrance is fresh and pleasant, but they contain a hundred times the spiritual power of ordinary incense. Ghosts and monsters find it irresistible. Once we light it, they’ll come from all directions. Then we can interrogate them forcefully.”
“Sounds good. Light it up.”
Placing a thin Incense Stick into the censer, the Little Daoist performed a small ritual, bowing in all four directions before using a lighter from the nearby altar table to light the incense.
Although it was just one small stick, the smoke it released rose in a perfectly straight line, flying right out through a hole in the roof like a rope hanging down from the sky.
The incense had barely been lit for a moment when a rustling sound began.
Peeking out the entrance, Duan Fei saw paper men crowding the main gate of the Daoist Temple. Big-headed dolls pressed against the door, trying to get in, but they were stuck, blocked by their companions.
Other paper men had already found different routes. They climbed over the low surrounding walls, crossed the muddy courtyard, and rushed eagerly into the inner chamber, staring greedily at the Incense Stick and devouring the scent in the air.
Besides the paper men, some ghostly creatures had resorted to Possession, inhabiting rocks and clumps of dirt. The horde of ghosts and monsters surrounded the place so tightly that the Little Daoist grew nervous.
But a glance at Duan Fei beside him gave him a surge of courage. He faced the surrounding ghosts and said, “Everyone, our Daoist Temple has lost a secret manual, the Cultivation Chapter. Has anyone seen it? If you have seen it or have any information, please take a step forward.”
“Get lost,” a paper man cursed. “We used to show you some respect for your master’s sake, but now that he’s gone, you dare to run your mouth here? Scram now, before we have to use force.”
THWACK.
With a dull, crisp sound, the paper man that had just been acting so smug was split down the middle, falling to the ground motionlessly.
Duan Fei, meanwhile, retracted his Crowbar and nodded at the Little Daoist.
The Little Daoist had already vaguely sensed that these ghostly creatures couldn’t see Duan Fei. He let out a cold sneer, turned his back, and pretended he was the one who had done it.
He didn’t speak right away, instead putting on a grand air before sneering. “Normally, I see you all as familiar faces, so I show you some respect. But this is a critical moment. So how about you all show me some respect?”
The crowd of ghosts and monsters stared at the paper man on the ground, terrified.
They had no idea how the Little Daoist had done it. All they knew was that this paper man had spoken disrespectfully and was then eliminated. They had no clue what had happened in between.
‘When did this Little Daoist get so powerful?’
Some of the ghosts still wanted to talk tough. One pointed at the Little Daoist and shouted, “What’s there to be afraid of? It must be a magic treasure left by the Old Dao! We’ll kill the little Daoist, snatch the treasure, and then—”
THWACK.
The louder the voice, the sooner the death.
Seeing another one of their companions fall, the others didn’t dare to speak.
The Little Daoist looked at them and sneered, “You lot… you’re all just trash.”
