There Must Be Something Wrong With This Game!
Chapter 308 - 73: Qian Wulu
With a few exceptions, the top one hundred celebrity players all had their own guilds and held important positions within them.
Some guilds were even founded by the players themselves, such as the Shadow God’s Eternal Night Guild.
However, some players were complete solo acts, fighting their way onto the leaderboards on their own and firmly holding a spot on the list.
The skills of players like these were often more well-rounded, and the ways in which they surpassed ordinary people were even more terrifying.
The Lone Ranger was one such player, as was the Great Sword Master, Qian Wulu.
No one knew Qian Wulu’s Talent or Profession. They only ever saw him carrying a Broken Sword, so they gave him the nickname "Great Sword Master." Over time, this evolved into "the Great Sword Master, Qian Wulu."
There was very little information about Qian Wulu. Most of the time, he just quietly played the game by himself. There was even a rumor that he wasn’t a real person, but an AI player created by *Abyss*.
This was because Qian Wulu’s performance was nothing like that of a real human player.
Only the Shadow God knew the truth: his cousin was simply a gaming fanatic.
He had no interest in anything outside of video games. After becoming financially independent, he’d simply shut himself in. He told his parents to just let him play for three to five years, after which he’d casually find someone to marry and then divorce, just to guarantee the Qian family bloodline wouldn’t die out.
In response, his parents told him it was fine. They’d known for over a decade that he was a lost cause, so they’d already had a backup and a backup for the backup. He could go ahead and live as recklessly as he wanted.
And so, Qian Wulu really did go all out.
As a high-end player, Qian Wulu truly lived by the mantra that the game was life. He spent eighteen out of twenty-four hours a day honing his skills, running dungeons, and grinding mobs. He dedicated every single minute and second to the game, day in and day out, night after night.
At that very moment, the transit station on the twelfth floor of the Dungeon had been breached. The main force of the Celestial Wing Knight Order had launched a surprise attack, overrunning the players’ stronghold and setting up an ambush on the only exit: the Suspended Bridge.
The Suspended Bridge was an indestructible floating bridge. It was one meter wide and seven hundred meters long, hanging ten thousand meters up in the air. It was the only path to the thirteenth floor.
By blockading this point, the players were unable to advance to the next floor. Their chance for infinite retries was cut off.
Furthermore, the Suspended Bridge was so narrow that not even two players in their Slime forms could walk side-by-side, which made breaking through extremely difficult.
Since the fifteenth floor had not yet been conquered, the players had to rely on the twelfth floor to stage their attempts. Once the players at the front were all wiped out, the rest would be trapped here to die.
After several fruitless attempts, the players had no choice but to send out one with a silver tongue to shout across the chasm at the enemy.
"Adventurers on the other side! Stop aiding a tyrant! The defeat of the Demon King is inevitable, so don’t side with him!"
"Who’s siding with the Demon King?!" a member of the Knight Order shouted in fury.
"Then tell me what you’re doing! Don’t tell me you’re helping humanity by blocking our path. Brainless villains are out of style, you know."
The Celestial Wing Knight Order was left speechless, at a complete loss for a reply.
Their actions were neither glorious nor noble; it was all a despicable ploy to chase after empty fame.
Some members of the Knight Order were already thinking of retreating, but their squad leader waved his hand, telling everyone to calm down. He then shouted at the Slimes on the other side, "You’re Demons! Since you’re not human, you must have your own agenda. Who knows if you’re trying to rendezvous with the Demon King and wipe out humanity together!"
"You with your thick brows and righteous face, you look like a good guy, so why do you love making baseless accusations? By that logic, I could say your dad got it on with an old sow and that’s how a brainless bastard like you was born."
The squad leader’s face went pale with rage. He snatched up a nearby Enchanted Longbow and fired an arrow at the trash-talking Slime, sending it back to town to reallocate its stats.
The players could only hurl curses across the Suspended Bridge, greeting the enemy’s entire family with a litany of eloquent phrases involving their mothers. But it was just talk; they couldn’t do anything more.
Realizing the Slimes couldn’t cross the Suspended Bridge, the Knight Order members simply plugged their ears and ignored the players on the other side.
This stalemate lasted for a long time, until Qian Wulu and the Shadow God arrived.
When Qian Wulu appeared in his spherical form, everyone was stunned.
He was silent, his eyes dull. He looked like a dead fish in the hands of a fishmonger, completely devoid of life.
Realizing this was the famous Qian Wulu, everyone felt a wave of disillusionment.
Distance creates beauty, and it’s the same for idols.
But Qian Wulu didn’t care what anyone around him thought. He just saw that his path was blocked and nudged the Shadow God beside him. "Lil’ Shadow, you’re up."
"Cousin, call me by my childhood nickname one more time and I swear I’ll beat the crap out of you."
"You can’t beat me."
"You want someone to go? Go yourself."
"Fine. I’ll go myself."
Leaping onto the Suspended Bridge, Qian Wulu advanced toward the Celestial Wing Knight Order, his steps as casual as a stroll through his own backyard.
The squad leader immediately ordered an attack, but there was just a flash of white light, and then... nothing.
They stared blankly ahead, the light in their eyes gone. In that instant, their very souls were sealed away, plunged into an endless darkness.
This was Qian Wulu.
The Qian Wulu who defeated his foes before they even knew what hit them.
