After a few bites of fried chicken, the group’s morale began to visibly improve. All sorts of buffs started to skyrocket.

Once everyone’s stamina had recovered, Duan Fei activated the gas lamp again.

With a few flicks of the switch, they returned directly to the Clown Gang’s old factory.

This was one of the gas lamp’s marked locations. They hadn’t used the other one because its status was unknown, and it would have been easy to walk into a trap.

The moment they returned to the old factory, they keenly sensed that there were people outside.

They exchanged a look and immediately rushed down the stairs, submachine guns at the ready to spray the people outside. Just then, someone shouted, "Don’t shoot! We’re friendlies!"

Looking closer, Duan Fei saw it was none other than Johnson.

Besides him, members of the Foreigners and the Gentlemen’s Association were also there.

Hearing Johnson’s shout, the Godfather and Chairman Lin walked over together. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw it was Duan Fei and his group.

The two gang leaders were disheveled and covered in dust, but their spirits were still high.

The Godfather walked up, grasped Duan Fei’s hand, and said sincerely, "Thank God you’re alive. I thought you’d all died at City Hall. What happened to the mayor in the end? Did he die a painful death?"

Duan Fei thought for a moment, then said, "His fur looked nice, he was overweight, and he probably would’ve been good to pet."

The Godfather: "!?".

Besides the gang members, anyone who hadn’t eaten the government rations had also been gathered. There must have been over ten thousand people on site.

They had either a natural distrust of the government or a particular love for mashed potatoes, so they hadn’t touched the latest batch of government rations at all, allowing them to escape the disaster.

Looking at the crowd, Duan Fei remarked with admiration, "Your disaster relief efforts are pretty impressive. You’ve rescued so many people so quickly."

"We didn’t rescue them. They came to us seeking sanctuary," Chairman Lin said. "More than half of them are ethnic Chinese, and most of the rest are Foreigners. They weren’t treated properly by the government, so they inevitably came to us for help."

The Godfather lit a cigar for Chairman Lin, then lit one for himself. "That’s right. This just proves that they made the right choice once again. The Clown Gang is insane, but the city government that went along with them is just as crazy. A government like that is... truly beyond description."

The dawn of the fifth day was slow to arrive. By its first light, Duan Fei saw everyone looked like refugees, dressed in tattered clothes and sitting on the ground to rest.

The rumbling of stomachs rose and fell in waves, a clear sign that most people were starving.

Hearing the chorus of rumbling, Johnson waved to Duan Fei and Cuihua. "Come on, there’s a kitchen here. Let’s go make something to eat."

The old factory was the Clown Gang’s base, so of course it had its own kitchen.

As he walked inside, Johnson looked around and couldn’t help but let out a whistle.

The Clown Gang had their own signature staples prepared: bread and cheese.

And since it was an old factory, it had a huge stockpile of bread. They had also prepared a good amount of assorted cheeses and lettuce, so it wouldn’t take much effort to whip up some decent food.

Johnson took a bread knife from the rack, gave it a few swings, and nodded in satisfaction. "This is a decent bread knife."

"You’d better wash it. I have no idea what the Clown Gang used it to cut before."

Johnson nodded, acknowledging Duan Fei had a point.

After rinsing the bread knife, Johnson skillfully sliced the bread. He had Duan Fei bring over the lettuce and Cuihua the cheese slices. When he finally combined the three, a bizarre spectacle unfolded.

An Outer God Level sandwich had appeared.

With just a few simple motions, the sandwich had transformed into a pile of moaning sludge. The sight completely shattered Johnson’s worldview, and he only managed to recover after tasting it and confirming the flavor was fine.

They had the members of the Foreigners gang distribute the food. Even from the kitchen, they could hear a wave of sharp gasps from outside, followed by laughter after the first taste.

The sandwiches were as delicious as they were ugly.

The starving refugees had just escaped from their captors. After suddenly getting to eat such a delicious sandwich, they couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Delicious food really does have a way of making people laugh.

They laughed as they shared the dark, gooey food, delighting in watching the expressions of those trying it for the first time shift from disgust to amazement.

Piles of sandwiches were passed around. The crowd, once shrouded in despair, was now filled with laughter that, along with the morning sun, chased away the gloom.

Seeing this, the Godfather knew the time was right.

He walked to a spot where everyone could see him, raised his hand, and declared passionately, "Everyone, listen to me! The North American Republic we face today is the most evil nation in history! They interfere in our lives, dictate our affairs, poison our food, and have now even begun to control our very bodies!"

"They discriminate against outsiders, calling us pigs, the Yellow Peril! They exploit us while brainwashing us, telling us this is an atonement we must endure, that it is our original sin. To that, I have only one thing to say: to hell with your original sin! We have no such thing!"

"This is an intolerable act, a complete and utter atrocity! Just think, if we do not stand up now, then when will we stand up?! Come! The time for resistance is now! Give me liberty, or give me death! I have only three words for you: unity, unity, and more damn unity!"

The rousing speech made the crowd erupt in cheers. These people were already citizens who leaned toward the Foreigners and the Gentlemen’s Association. Now, galvanized by the Godfather’s words, courage immediately surged within them.

Weapons taken from the Clown Gang’s old factory were distributed, and a suitable weapon was placed in every person’s hands. A large number of cars were driven out and large quantities of explosives were procured. A conflict that began with food had finally evolved into a confrontation between the white majority and ethnic minorities, escalating the original clash into a full-blown war.

Watching the frenzied, fanatical citizens, Bystander A remarked with a sigh, "I’m starting to notice that no matter where we players go, we have a knack for kicking off major incidents."

"It’s not you. I’m the one to blame," Duan Fei said, looking at his Talent.

’After all, I’m a man who has a special talent for triggering random events.’

Once things had progressed to this stage, it was far beyond what one or two people could stop.

The people’s fervor for war had been ignited. The city was about to be plunged into a bloodbath, and there was only one thing left for Duan Fei and the other players to do.

As the people streamed out of the old factory and charged into the city to wage war against the puppets, the five players had already entered a room. They sat down before a mirror and took out the gas lamp.
