Chapter 613: Chapter 613: Seeing Lin Lan Again

(Tomorrow is Sunday, and there will be several additional chapters, so stay tuned.)

Early the next morning, Luo Ziling left the house at six o’clock and ran to the sanatorium where Li Haiyang was staying.

Last night, Luo Ziling had directly contacted Li Haiyang, saying that he would come over early today to treat him.

Li Haiyang had no objections and accepted Luo Ziling’s arrangement.

It had been several days since Luo Ziling had treated Li Haiyang, but Luo Ziling believed that Li Haiyang understood the situation and would not mind.

However, he didn’t know whether Li Haiyang was aware of the conflict that had occurred with the descendants of the Ling Family after he had gone to treat Old Mr. Ling on Ling Jinhua’s birthday. If he knew, he wondered what his reaction would be.

When he arrived at the entrance of the sanatorium, someone was already waiting there to receive him, and Luo Ziling went straight in.

Li Haiyang was taking a stroll in the yard with the assistance of a nurse, sitting in a wheelchair.

Upon seeing Luo Ziling come in, he greeted him proactively, “Ziling, I haven’t seen you for several days.”

“I’ve been busy these past few days and didn’t have time to come treat you, Senior,” Luo Ziling walked over to Li Haiyang, feeling somewhat embarrassed, and took the wheelchair from the nurse’s hands, “Here I am, coming over to treat you early in the morning. I originally thought of coming at noon or in the evening, but I have things scheduled then. I thought that you would surely wake up early, so I came over first thing.”

“You’ve gone to a lot of trouble,” Li Haiyang just chuckled and didn’t ask much else.

After making a lap around the yard, Li Haiyang asked Luo Ziling to push him back to his residence.

With the help of the nurses, he lay down on the bed and then asked them to wait outside.

Once the nurses had left, Li Haiyang asked, “How is Old Mr. Ling’s treatment going?”

“Not bad, better than I expected,” Luo Ziling answered while preparing the treatment equipment, “He actually doesn’t have any serious illness, it’s just natural aging that has weakened his constitution, combined with the weather change that resulted in him catching a bit of cold. After treating him and having him intermittently take the medicine my grandfather made, he should recover quickly if nothing unexpected happens. But at his age, I can’t guarantee to what extent he can improve.”

“That’s good to hear,” Li Haiyang said with a sigh of relief, then smiled and added, “I know you’re definitely capable of performing miracles. Do you think we started the treatment too late? Would the results have been better if we had started earlier?”

“Certainly,” Luo Ziling did not deny, “Just like with your condition, Senior, if it had been treated early on, we definitely would not have seen the outcome we have now.”

“What’s done is done and can’t be reversed,” Li Haiyang gently moved his fingers, “Now that my fingers can move slightly, I’m already surprised. If I can walk on my own before the weather gets warm next year, that will make me very happy. I hope you can bring that miracle to me.”

“Senior, it’s both of us creating the miracle together. I believe the miracle will surely happen.” Seeing Li Haiyang’s response and what he said, Luo Ziling felt that Li Haiyang probably didn’t know about him beating up the younger generation of the Ling Family at the Ling Family Old Mansion that day.

In any case, he had made up his mind not to bring it up unless Li Haiyang asked about the incident.

While Luo Ziling was treating him, Li Haiyang brought up the sniper attack Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan had encountered while out shopping last time.

“That incident made your grandfather very angry, and he personally had people look into it. He even contacted me today, but they’ve basically found nothing conclusive,” Li Haiyang said with a sigh, “In these kinds of incidents, even if the shooter is caught, there’s no way to trace the mastermind behind it, just like the time you were stabbed on the street. They can only catch the perpetrator, but the person giving the orders can’t be found.”

Luo Ziling didn’t expect Li Haiyang to bring up the assassination attempt he and Ling Ruonan had faced while shopping. He felt a bit surprised, but he found Li Haiyang’s analysis acceptable.

Several other people had said similar things, so Luo Ziling wasn’t particularly surprised by Li Haiyang’s comments.

Luo Ziling didn’t ask much, knowing that Li Haiyang would share everything he could, so Luo Ziling focused solely on massaging Li Haiyang.

Before each treatment, Luo Ziling would massage Li Haiyang to relax his muscles.

During the acupuncture, he wouldn’t converse with Li Haiyang because that required complete concentration. Any distraction could lead to an accident, for himself.

“The sniper this time was likely targeting your mother,” Li Haiyang said in a lowered voice, “Your mother has faced numerous assassination attempts over the years, so she’s very cautious. This time, probably because of you, she was willing to show her face and go shopping. You must still be careful in the future. If you must go out, you’ll need to be thoroughly disguised. You should make good use of the skills Shanque has taught you.”

“Thank you for the guidance, senior,” Luo Ziling replied.

“Regarding the assassination and attack attempts against you and your mother, even if we use all our resources, we can’t find out who the mastermind is. Those carrying out these actions are very experienced in planning them, and they won’t expose themselves. So, don’t dwell on it. You need to be cautious in all your actions to prevent any accidents,” Li Haiyang explained. He then chuckled, “You’ve been a bit too high-profile lately, which attracted resentment. In the future, try to keep a lower profile.”

“Thank you for the reminder, senior,” Luo Ziling thanked again.

“It’s rare for someone to be favored by your great grandfather and grandfather. Your calligraphy even caught Old Mr. Ling’s attention for his collection, something not many can enjoy. In the future, get closer to Old Mr. Ling, your grandfather, and grandmother, visit them more, talk with them. You’ll gain more than you expect.” After saying this, Li Haiyang chuckled self-deprecatingly: “You see, I’ve become verbose with age. When hands and feet aren’t nimble, the mouth compensates by liking to talk. Let’s chat more when there’s a chance. Once I can move freely, we’ll drink together. I’ve heard you can hold your liquor well!”

Luo Ziling readily agreed, giving Li Haiyang words of encouragement, “There will certainly be a chance to drink with you, senior. I believe your tolerance is very good, too. We won’t stop until we’re fully satisfied.”

Li Haiyang treated him with even more enthusiasm, which naturally made Luo Ziling very happy.

When Luo Ziling was ready to begin the acupuncture, Li Haiyang tactfully closed his mouth, not wanting to disturb him.

After the acupuncture, Li Haiyang fell into a deep sleep.

Once the treatment was over, Luo Ziling packed up his things, gave a few instructions to the nurses waiting outside, and prepared to leave.

But as he was leaving Li Haiyang’s small building, heading towards the sanatorium’s entrance, he was surprised to see someone coming in from outside.

A tall woman in black clothes and pants, wearing sunglasses on her nose, and exuding a dominating presence.

Who could it be if not Lin Lan?
