Chapter 2473 2473: Revisiting the Merger Proposal
To Luo Ziling’s surprise, just as they arrived home, Ouyang Feifei showed up too.
“I invited her!” Seeing Luo Ziling’s puzzled face, Ling Ruonan smiled, “Feifei originally planned to come and discuss something this afternoon, but we had a meeting and then went to see your grandfather. So, I invited her to come by for a cup of tea in the evening.”
“I thought someone was coming to block the door.” Luo Ziling joked with Ouyang Feifei, “By the way, some fruit just came from the south, including some delicious grapes. I’ve never tasted such good grapes before; you should take some back with you.”
“How could I dare take Mr. Luo’s fruit!” Ouyang Feifei looked at Luo Ziling with a teasing expression, “Every time I come over with something to discuss, you always look so displeased.”
“Oh, what did you eat for dinner that added so much vinegar? It’s so sour!”
This made Ouyang Feifei instantly embarrassed and angry, but in front of Ling Ruonan, she was too shy to react.
However, as they walked into the house together, she still reached out and pinched Luo Ziling, expressing her dissatisfaction.
Luo Ziling, unexpectedly, started yelling, saying it hurt so much that he had bruises from Ouyang Feifei’s pinch.
Ling Ruonan looked over in confusion, making Ouyang Feifei feel a bit embarrassed.
All she could do was glare at Luo Ziling with resentment, swearing to find an opportunity to deal with him properly.
Seeing Ouyang Feifei like this made Luo Ziling laugh triumphantly.
This only made Ouyang Feifei more furious, wishing she could rush over, grab his annoyingly smug face, and teach him a lesson.
Ling Ruonan asked Luo Ziling and Ouyang Feifei to sit down first while she went to wash the special-tasting grapes that Luo Ziling mentioned.
These grapes had been shipped from the south, and with today’s advanced logistics, shipping large amounts of fruit does not cost much in logistics fees.
The key point is that, even after being transported from miles away, the fruit still remains fresh.
When Ling Ruonan went to wash the grapes, Ouyang Feifei finally found a chance to take revenge on Luo Ziling.
She directly sat down next to Luo Ziling and spread her fingers to pinch him.
“You’re overboard, aren’t you? You come to my house and still want to use force on me!” Luo Ziling caught Ouyang Feifei’s hand with an amusing look on his face, then took advantage of her unpreparedness to pinch her waist.
Ouyang Feifei let out a sharp cry, her entire body softened, and her face turned beet red.
Luo Ziling seized the opportunity to pinch her waist again, and Ouyang Feifei finally couldn’t take it. She fled to the restroom with a flushed face.
Watching Ouyang Feifei retreat in defeat, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but laugh gloatingly.
When Ling Ruonan came out with the washed grapes and didn’t see Ouyang Feifei, she couldn’t help feeling a bit curious.
“She’s in the restroom.” Luo Ziling pointed towards the restroom.
Ling Ruonan gave Luo Ziling a peculiar look but didn’t say anything in the end.
After quite a while, during which Luo Ziling ate at least a dozen grapes, Ouyang Feifei finally emerged.
As she came out, her pretty face still had a tinge of red.
Ling Ruonan didn’t stare at Ouyang Feifei’s face but signaled her to eat some grapes.
“What are you guys planning to discuss?” Luo Ziling curiously asked Ling Ruonan, “Is it about Northern Pharmaceuticals and Lingyun Pharmaceuticals collaborating?”
“Yes!” Ling Ruonan nodded, then turned to Ouyang Feifei, “Why don’t you share your opinion?”
“After leaving Qingfeng Village, we didn’t immediately return to Yanjing. Instead, we visited some nearby herb markets and discovered many places that sell wholesale herbs. Those herbs, although different from what you collected, are much better than the artificially cultivated ones. Therefore, I plan to establish an herb procurement department in the Northwest to purchase those wild herbs for pharmaceutical production. I already commissioned a preliminary market survey. Based on current conditions, the herbs procured there can fulfill Lingyun Pharmaceutical’s needs for half a year. If we establish a few more departments elsewhere, all our raw materials can be sourced wild.” At this point, Ouyang Feifei asked Luo Ziling, “Do you think replacing all our existing artificial herbs with wild ones will significantly improve the quality and efficacy of the medicines?”
“That’s a given,” Luo Ziling nodded, then added a reminder, “But there’s one thing you need to watch out for: the supply of wild herbs can’t be continuously guaranteed. Because wild resources are finite, after prices rise, many people might over-harvest them, destroying the growth areas and dramatically decreasing the yield. Moreover, many herbs need to reach a certain age to be effective. If they’re not old enough, the medicinal potency will be greatly compromised.”
After some thought, Ouyang Feifei nodded gently, “I haven’t thought it through thoroughly enough. I only instructed people to investigate the supply and transaction volumes of herbs over the years.”
“However, we can do it this way.” Luo Ziling shared his plan, “We can purchase large quantities of wild herbs, but keep the prices suppressed, not raising them even if demand is high. Use these procured herbs to produce premium medicines. The rare items we gathered in the mountains this time can serve as medicinal guides.”
Ouyang Feifei and Ling Ruonan did not fully grasp what Luo Ziling meant.
Luo Ziling didn’t keep them in suspense, saying with a smile, “Grandpa and I are preparing to develop several new medicines, which require many ingredients, although a few rare herbs play the central role. While these medicines can’t be mass-produced, they can still be manufactured in small batches. As soon as we have clinical trial results and receive approval numbers, the profits will still not be insignificant.”
“You mean the wild herbs with better effects that we purchase will be used to make premium-grade medicines, while the artificially cultivated ones will be used to produce standard medicines?” Ouyang Feifei quickly caught on.
“Exactly.”
“So how will the proportions needed for these herbs be determined? What if there’s an excess of a particular herb; wouldn’t it be wasteful?” Ouyang Feifei was a bit puzzled, “Wild herb prices are high, and if wasted, it increases the cost.”
In terms of financial accounting, this would lower the profit margin.
“As long as you have enough herbs, I can produce multiple different medicines without any waste.” Luo Ziling chuckled, “I’ve thoroughly studied ‘Thousand Golden Remedies,’ and together with Grandpa, we’ve created plenty of new formulas. Give me a few types of herbs, and regardless of proportions, I can use them all.”
Hearing Luo Ziling say this, Ouyang Feifei smiled and then turned to Ling Ruonan, “Mrs. Ling, I think combining Lingyun Pharmaceutical and Northern Pharmaceuticals is entirely feasible. Once merged, the scale would be even larger, enhancing both profits and reputation. With this Medicine God here, there’s nothing to worry about.”
Luo Ziling was taken aback for a moment.
