Today, foreign guests visited. Yang Yuanshan and Ling Mingrui attended the reception together.

It’s quite rare to see the two big shots attend a foreign guest reception together.

This was because the foreign guest was not an individual, but a delegation.

“He might not be involved in this; it’s his two sons, Chen Yining and Chen Yijing.” Ling Mingrui said calmly, “His two sons have planned many things, and the people Ziling caught have confessed. How about we find an opportunity to ask Chen Ruchang about these matters?”

“The task force hasn’t reported yet?” Yang Yuanshan shook his head, “Let’s wait for their report before discussing it with Chen Ruchang.”

Ling Mingrui glanced at Yang Yuanshan, then picked up his teacup, sipping, before slowly saying, “You’re right. However, if anyone is clearly linked to the criminal case, they should be held accountable. This matter involves individuals of high rank, and should be handled by the National Police and the Supreme Disciplinary Department.”

Yang Yuanshan thought for a moment, then nodded lightly, “If others have no objections, it can be done.”

“Should we consult the opinions of a few other people?”

“Good!” Yang Yuanshan did not refuse.

The two spoke no more.

The following day, a high-level internal report contained this: Chen Yining and Chen Yijing are involved in a very serious criminal case and are being interviewed by relevant departments.

It was just a few words without detailed information, but this brief message stirred a storm.

At dinner, Ling Mingrui was dining with Ling Jinhua.

Though Ling Mingrui was Ling Jinhua’s son, Ling Mingrui was nearly seventy years old, with children close to fifty, and possibly great-grandchildren if they married early. To others, he was an elder, but in front of Ling Jinhua, he had to play the son’s role.

Dining with Ling Jinhua meant sitting at the lower seat.

“Are you preparing to act against the Chen Family?” Ling Jinhua proactively inquired.

He knew perfectly well that Ling Mingrui visiting for dinner today was surely related to this matter.

Ling Mingrui continued, “Yang Family’s granddaughter, Fang Family’s grandson and granddaughter were there, yet the Chen Family dared to strike so viciously. Chen Ruchang is defying fate.”

“What do you think their purpose and reliance are for acting this way?” Ling Jinhua asked calmly.

“Chen Ruchang lost his cool.” Ling Jinhua regained composure, “Moreover, there’s internal mischief within the Chen Family.”

After these words, Ling Mingrui took a sip of wine and continued, “Chen Ruchang’s purpose is obviously to avenge his sons and seize the opportunity to hit us. Before he acted, Lin Zeping explicitly supported him. Fang Xiang hinted at support, while Wu Dongfang remained uncommitted, which Chen Ruchang misinterpreted as support, his backing.”

“So, he was played?” Ling Jinhua narrowed his eyes at Ling Mingrui, “Fang Xiang suddenly switched sides, distancing from the Chen Family, and Wu Dongfang stabbed them too. Only Lin Zeping hasn’t yet distanced himself? Originally four against three, now five against two, or five against one, maybe even six against one?”

Ling Mingrui seriously nodded, “Father is correct, that is indeed the situation. Realizing this, Chen Ruchang might’ve lost his nerve, even taking desperate measures. “Your grandson is really scheming, using these major families as his tools.” Ling Jinhua had an amused expression, “He’s young but cunning, extraordinary.”

“Although he claims to be a pawn, he really lacks the awareness of one.” Ling Jinhua sighed, “He’s striving to be a player in the game, and indeed he’s playing the game. “Do you think he’s a major threat or a great talent?”

“Great talent can indeed pose a threat. However, I believe, if given enough benefits, he won’t become a threat to the Ling Family. After all, his mother is a daughter of the Ling Family.”

“It’s good that you’re confident!”

Ling Mingrui nodded slightly.

“Chen Yining and Chen Yijing have indeed crossed the line. Mistakes incur a price!” As dinner ended, Ling Jinhua gently remarked.
