The World Dragon's Heir

Chapter 585: Prepare Rooms

Chapter 585: Prepare Rooms

As the meeting wound down, and the Kings prepared to end the meeting, Dominic got to work preparing the side rooms.

This wasn’t intended to be a sleeping area, but some of them were sure to want a private room to discuss matters with their people before they either asked for rooms or returned to their home nations for whatever came next.

Dominic could tell already that the Necromancer King had no intention of leaving, and the King of Dagos was not going anywhere.

His capital was currently flooded, and he had been rescued by Cygnian Army forces, who had to hack through an army of Undead to get to him.

“Duke Dominic, if you could prepare quarters for each of the Monarchs. Please arrange them in separate areas, if possible.” Prince Alex requested.

“Of course. The Manor was arranged for exactly this situation. We will just have to shuffle a few people in the courtyards.” Dominic agreed.

The Ambassadors and Emissaries sighed as one.

They were about to be kicked out of the best rooms by the arrival of their Monarch. Fortunately, the buildings were much less cramped now that all the Barons and so many of the Knights had chosen partners.

Each of the nations present had a designated courtyard building, so the residents would all be their own citizens.

At least until after the wedding.

That shouldn’t be a security risk to them. At least not more of one than any other time that they had people in their wing who were not part of the Royal Family.

Alexis waved her hand, and the veiled maids rushed out to inform everyone of the changes, and to prepare rooms for the Monarchs.

The buildings were set up with multiple suites, and the Kings could be given an upper floor, so that nobody else would be passing by it. That was the best security situation that they could arrange on short notice.

Currently, those rooms were taken by their Emissaries and their teams. The staff wouldn’t relocate anyone’s belongings, but they would redecorate the suite for a Royal guest and let them sort the sleeping arrangements out on their own.

None of the maids expected anyone to make life difficult for their King.

Indeed, by the time that they made it to the compound, most of the upper level rooms had been cleared out, and only a few still had anyone on them. The guests had been consolidated to the lower levels, leaving the whole top floor empty.

The notable exceptions were the Cygnian suites, which had the Princes in them already, and the Shersdonian building, where Advisor Trionne had chosen to remain on the top floor.

Given the option, the Necromancer King would have preferred to be in the basement, but they were so close to the waterline that the houses didn’t have one. They only had the underground tunnel network.

That gave Dominic a chance to escape upstairs to ensure that the kitchen staff were prepared for what was coming next, and that a room was arranged for the Monarchs to dine in, separate from the others.

With so many of them here, it wouldn’t be practical to have one large dining hall for all the Nobles. Besides, most of the Titled Nobles had already left.

“Beth, my apologies in advance.” Dominic greeted the cook.

The old woman laughed. “Oh, I’ve been preparing for this for hours, dear. I’ve even sent off a batch of fresh bread to Pops and his girls, so that they’re not missing out in the morning.

You know how he has been avoiding the Manor with so many people here. You’d think that he was worried about being roped into an arranged marriage.”

Dominic laughed. “Somehow I don’t see that old Dwarf being outwitted by a teenage Debutante. If he was that sort, then I would be concerned about the fate of Mead. But I’m not.”

Beth laughed at the ridiculousness of that thought. Sure, Mead was considered exceptionally attractive for a young Dwarf, but Pops was old enough to be her grandfather.

Dominic suspected that Beth was closer to the old man’s type. And not just because she knew how to make all his favourite foods.

“Well, if you’re already ahead of the issue, I won’t delay you. Just let me know if I need to send for anything, or if Julio starts to cry.”

Beth winked at him. “His office is soundproof. If he needs a good cry, he knows where to go.”

The rest of the Manor compound was chaos, with the Debutantes rushing around, trying to get something arranged so that they could say that the King was present during their wedding.

Without Dominic or Alexis present, the weddings had been paused for the titled Knights.

The untitled weddings were ongoing at the Adventurer’s Guild compound. But it was unlikely that most of them even knew yet that all the Kings had arrived.

They would know that there was a commotion at the house, but it would take some time to verify the accuracy of the news that the Kings were here for a meeting.

With the trial happening in the basement, and Kaizon being dead already, and not executed in public, there was no firsthand news. That wouldn’t stop the gossip, but gossip and speculation were everywhere.

“Dave, have we had any issues in the area since I went downstairs?” Dominic called to the troll at the door.

“Nothing, Boss. The wall Dave says that the new Larry Trolls are building a new tower on the edge of town where we told them to.

They can see it from here.

No other people coming near, just crazy women and horny boys inside the Manor.”

Dominic tried not to laugh at Dave’s estimation of what a Debutante event was all about.

He wasn’t exactly wrong.

“Keep me updated if anything strange happens. There might be someone preparing to do dumb things once they find out that we’ve got important people here.”

Dave nodded. “Lots of soldiers outside town, too. They sent small groups to wait when the special humans showed up.”

“Ah, those are likely the scouts for their armies, in case things start to get violent here, or someone tries to attack the city. If they start bringing in more soldiers, let me know right away.”
