The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Chapter 85 - 84: Flawless Strategy: Even a Level 2 Can Be Killed!

A tremendous explosion threw the entire town into an uproar. The blinding flash of light was dazzling, even in the middle of the day.

Though it lasted only a moment, the terrifying fluctuations of Particle Energy and the intense radiation were enough to make one’s skin crawl.

Wang Ya constantly received the view from Harak, who was circling high in the sky. The town square had been reduced to a field of ruins, choked with smoke. All sorts of radiation energy were creating an extremely adverse effect.

This was the kind of destruction that could only be caused by Middle-tier Witchcraft, or perhaps even High-tier Witchcraft.

Red Dragon Roar. Fire Sun Star. Thorny Entanglement.

In fact, Wang Ya had long since planted two powerful Middle-tier Energy Witchcraft Scrolls in the square, along with a binding Witchcraft to prevent his targets from escaping the area of effect.

Harak was Wang Ya’s eye in the sky. Once the opportune moment and position were confirmed, he activated the Witchcraft Scrolls he had prepared.

The primary target was the most threatening one: the Maya King, Kenny. His right arm, which seemed capable of controlling the Gundas’ Dogs, was a huge problem.

The connection between the Gundas’ Dogs and their hosts was extremely close. It seemed to be more than just a physical link, extending into the ethereal and even involving their spiritual will.

Judging by the behavior of the Gundas’ Dogs now chasing him, the results of his attack on the town square had exceeded his expectations.

The red metal ring on his hand began to glow, and all the fallen Gundas’ Dogs around him were absorbed, becoming part of Wang Ya’s Storage Vault for his experiments.

A smile touched his lips. With so many specimens, he could be much bolder when conducting his Wizard Experiments, trying out more variables without fear of running out of materials before he could see the results.

His work on the Shadow Crow Bloodline had been troublesome precisely because he lacked sufficient raw materials.

If he could just get his hands on a live Shadow Crow as an experimental subject, he could extract the Extraordinary Bloodline indefinitely.

Twelve Gundas’ Dogs in total.

Wang Ya picked up his pace and left the town. Although he was still some distance from the Maya Capital City, it wasn’t nearly safe enough, considering the Evil God incident. This was far beyond what a mere Level 1 Wizard Apprentice like himself could handle.

He had to report this as quickly as possible and let more powerful Wizards deal with it.

The fact that his assigned mission had come to an abrupt end didn’t disappoint him.

The system in the Dark Land was relatively fair. Discovering an Evil God incident and reporting it promptly was, in itself, a great accomplishment. He might even get some unexpected rewards out of it.

Suddenly, Wang Ya stopped in his tracks, subconsciously stroking his Silver Bracelet.

Through Harak’s eyes, he could clearly see the smoke and dust settling over the town square. Amid the rubble and debris lay tattered scraps of cloth and fragmented limbs—a brutal scene.

And in the center, a figure was still standing. It was Kenny. He was still alive.

The two members of the royal family he had been gripping had absorbed most of the damage, but his own body was still a wreck. There wasn’t an inch of unharmed flesh on him. His black hair was a charred, matted mess, his skin was rotting, and the radiation continued to take its toll.

Kenny’s face was a mask of fury. In his current state, he looked like a vengeful demon. The losses were immense—not only had many of the Sons of God died, but the Divine Heart in their camp had also been destroyed.

The mission the God of Gendas had given him was now utterly impossible to complete.

And it was all the fault of that damned Wizard.

The face of Arthur, with his golden hair, flashed through his mind. Kenny tilted his head back and roared at the sky, "You vile Wizard! I will catch you, and I will tear you to pieces!"

The flesh buds on his right arm became an unnatural, rosy red. They began to swell, transforming into countless scattered tendrils that burrowed into the corpses in the town that still had intact flesh. Their bodies were absorbed, allowing the crimson flesh at the heart of the growth to assimilate them and evolve further.

His focus was still on the other Sons of God as he began to absorb the flesh of the Gundas’ Dogs without restraint.

Kenny’s pupils turned completely black, his teeth jutted outward, and his face took on canine features. Masses of flesh buds sprouted from his cheeks, and a new pair of fleshy claws tore through his abdomen and grew out.

"God-like power!" Kenny shrieked, roaring as his bones and muscles completely transformed. He grew to a height of three meters, his heart thundering in his chest like a great bell.

His nose became long and flat, like an anteater’s. Fleshy tendrils spread throughout his nostrils, allowing him to discern even the faintest of scents.

"I’ve found you, Wizard. You can’t escape."

Judging by his aura, Kenny was now at the peak of a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, seemingly on the verge of breaking through to the next level.

Kenny was incredibly fast. With the spiraling flesh buds protruding from his heart as a core, he ran on all fours like a dog, his limbs now tipped with sharp claws.

The town’s exit was not far ahead. Kenny slowed, certain that the Wizard was nearby. His long, flat nose sniffed the air incessantly, but for some reason, the scent was gone.

He scanned the surrounding buildings of varying heights and the numerous narrow alleyways. ’So, he knew he couldn’t get away and decided to hide?’

Suddenly, a speck of inky black appeared in his vision. It spread out from the Void, transforming into a deep black curtain that enveloped the entire area, inside and out.

The blackness descended with shocking, bizarre suddenness. It seemed to absorb all light, and even his five senses were being muddled and deceived.

Kenny’s already unimpressive Spiritual Power was completely overwhelmed by this effect, leaving him bewildered and completely cut off from the outside world.

He let out a sharp, canine shriek. His muscles bunched together, forming a thick armor of flesh, and he swung his four fists through the air, attempting to defend against any potential attack.

"Wizard, show yourself!" he bellowed, his blustering tone betraying his lack of confidence. "Don’t think this will do you any good! I’ll rip you to shreds and eat you bite by bite!"

Outside the shroud of darkness, Wang Ya watched with an indifferent expression as Kenny thrashed about, trapped in his own impotent rage.

He had already reverted to his true form: black hair, cold black eyes, and a gray Wizard Robe.

The Dark Realm Witchcraft Scroll. As a Middle-tier Witchcraft, there were many ways to counter it, the fastest being to shatter its influence with powerful Spiritual Power.

Clearly, Kenny was incapable of this. Though his physical body was powerful, his weakness was just as glaring.

He withdrew the rest of his Witchcraft Scrolls from his Silver Bracelet.

’When facing an enemy whose Power and presence so far exceeded his own, he had to use every trick up his sleeve.’

’He also knew that canines were expert trackers, skilled at picking up scents. If he didn’t deal with this creature now, it would only become a bigger problem down the line.’

He had two Corrosive Acid scrolls—his only remaining offensive Witchcraft Scrolls, both in the Low-tier Witchcraft category.

As he tore the Witchcraft Scrolls, they didn’t activate immediately. They could be set on a timer—a technique Alchemy Wizards had long since implemented into their scrolls.

It was all thanks to the various reforms pushed by the Mechanical Wizards, which had spurred innovation and activity among other types of Wizards.

Particle Energy from within his body gathered in his hands, and with a FWOOSH, a crimson flame ignited.

He then clapped his hands together. The high-intensity Particle Energy collided violently, its reactivity reaching an astonishing, explosive level.

’Unstable, high-frequency, high-energy.’

Wang Ya looked at the living target, his eyes cold and detached. He unleashed a more powerful Fear-Burning Fire Witchcraft, and it surged forward to engulf the creature.

Two basin-sized globs of Corrosive Acid flew out right behind it.

’His opponent had almost no combat experience and no sense of rhythm to speak of.’

’Just a low-level beast that had lost its ability to think rationally, relying only on brute force.’

From the very beginning, it had fallen into Wang Ya’s strategic trap.

This was the nature of battle between Wizards: calculating every unknown and creating the most favorable situation for oneself.

A single oversight could often lead to failure—and utter annihilation.
