The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 46: Bumper Harvest, Extraordinary Potion
BOOM!
Turbulent Fire Elemental Particles collided, creating a deafening explosion. The powerful shockwave shattered the door and windows, cracking the walls.
The moment Mosi realized something was wrong, he had decisively activated a Witchcraft Scroll.
As the smoke gradually cleared, revealing the wreckage-strewn room, Mosi leaned against a wall. His clothes were charred black, and a faint, water-blue ripple of light enveloped his body. It was this protection that had blocked the burst of Particle Energy from the Witchcraft Scroll, along with its radiating effects.
His expression was incredibly grim. At his feet lay the unrecognizable, charred corpse of Kadi Purple Gold Flower, identifiable only by the tattered remnants of his clothes.
’He knew instantly that he had been affected by his opponent’s Spiritual Witchcraft and that part of what he had seen was an illusion.’
The clan had not given him many life-saving items. The Water Guardian on him could only automatically defend against one dangerous attack, and its effect was already gone.
The water-blue ripple of light began to fade, and a hint of anxiety crept into his eyes.
At least half of the items in his Witchcraft Bracelet had fallen into the enemy’s hands.
As for his remaining tricks, most were stored in the Witchcraft Bracelet. His Spiritual Power perception told him that the guy who had impersonated Kadi Purple Gold Flower hadn’t died in the explosion; he must have had similar protective measures. His opponent would never give him the chance to use the Witchcraft Bracelet.
The words of his clan’s elders echoed in his ears: In a duel between Wizards, there is absolutely no room for carelessness. Be cautious, be vigilant, and give it your all. A momentary weakness could decide the battle.
Mosi took this advice to heart. He didn’t try to activate his Witchcraft Bracelet. Instead, a Silver Gemstone fell from his sleeve. He clutched it tightly, his palm beginning to sweat.
His gaze was fixed on the figure emerging from the smoke.
WHIRR!
A crimson Particle Energy Shield emanated a blinding light, and Mosi instinctively narrowed his eyes.
The black Wizard Robe was completely undamaged. Gray boots, black hair, a handsome face, and a pair of indifferent eyes met Mosi’s gaze.
"You’re... that Wang Ya Harak." The teardrop mole was too distinct. Mosi recognized him at a glance, his voice trembling with shock.
This powerful fluctuation of Particle Energy clearly indicated that he had mastered this witchcraft, and to a high degree.
’But how is this possible? According to the information from Anna, this guy chose Extraordinary Cultivation Witchcraft, and his cultivated creature showed no change at all. If he had this level of witchcraft mastery, why wouldn’t he enter the Dark Wizard Academy directly instead of staying at Ancient Forest Mountain?’
Mosi couldn’t understand it. He stared at Wang Ya in terror as a guess formed in his mind. ’Number Two was probably killed directly by this guy. He’s been hiding his power even more deeply!’
’The current situation is extremely disadvantageous for me. I’m on the defensive. I have to seize the rhythm of the battle and create an opportunity to use my Witchcraft Bracelet.’
Wang Ya said nothing, merely maintaining his slightly dimmed Particle Energy Shield.
’My Spiritual Power must be a bit weaker than his. The Sensory Deprivation witchcraft failed at the very end.’
’Still, getting a special Witchcraft Artifact and a Witchcraft Scroll isn’t a bad haul. My opponent has revealed quite a few of his trump cards, and the rhythm of the battle is now in my hands.’
The water-blue ripple of light was weakening. According to the observation of his Eye of Truth, it would completely disappear in ten seconds at most.
Beneath his sleeve, Particle Energy gathered in his hand. Hot sparks flared within it as the Fear-Burning Fire witchcraft took shape. Under the precise control of his Spiritual Power, the dancing seed of flame contained a terrifying might.
Wang Ya never underestimated any opponent. This was especially true for newcomers backed by a massive Wizard Clan. The training and knowledge they received from a young age were completely different from those of the newcomers from the Island Continent.
Anna had been unexpectedly weak, but Mosi Bailin definitely wouldn’t be. To take down Kadi Purple Gold Flower, he had used Sensory Deprivation witchcraft, minimizing the environmental interference in the newcomer’s residence.
This witchcraft consumed more Spiritual Power, and Kadi Purple Gold Flower’s Spiritual Power was inferior to his.
’The Particle Energy in my body can still support the release of one more Energy Particle Witchcraft. I need to save one use to protect myself.’
He ruled out using the Crimson Heat witchcraft, which focused on Physique enhancement. ’It’s best to avoid close combat. As long as his opponent’s Physique hasn’t undergone a qualitative change, a single Energy Witchcraft will turn him to ash on impact. One and done.’
"Wang Ya, we can talk this out! There’s no need to make things so tense. I don’t recall ever offending you. Don’t do something you’ll regret," Mosi said, his tone imploring.
"You’re violating the rules of Ancient Forest Mountain. I can help you cover up the matter of killing Kadi, and even..."
Mosi’s eyes suddenly turned vicious. He slammed the Silver Gemstone in his hand onto the ground, spun around, and ran for the door without hesitation, simultaneously injecting Particle Energy into his Witchcraft Bracelet.
A soft sigh, laden with a strange meaning, echoed from the room behind him.
Mosi sneered inwardly. The Silver Gemstone could create a chaotic Energy Field. For at least a minute, it would be difficult to cast any witchcraft within this area, unless one possessed Particle Energy powerful enough to overwhelm the field.
’I’ve seized the rhythm of the battle.’
Suddenly, a blurry black shadow lunged at his face. He instinctively raised his arms to block.
Intense pain flared as talons ripped through his flesh, even cracking the bones in his arms. He couldn’t help but roar, "You damn beast!"
A jet-black crow flapped its wings and flew into the air. It was so fast that Mosi couldn’t react at all.
He also remembered that his opponent had chosen Cultivation Witchcraft. ’If he can hide his power, he can definitely hide his true cultivation progress too!’
"Wang Ya Harak, I’ll make you pay! Go to hell!" Mosi roared in fury. His Witchcraft Bracelet glowed with a silver light, and two Witchcraft Scrolls and a bottle of red liquid appeared in his hands.
Just as he uncorked the bottle and prepared to drink the Healing Potion, Mosi shuddered involuntarily. Then, to his horror, he discovered that the Particle Energy in his body had become unresponsive, like a pool of stagnant water. He couldn’t even move his body. A bone-chilling cold spread from his heart to his limbs... and his blood gradually stopped flowing!
"What... what did you do... You son of a bitch... You fight dirty!" Mosi glared venomously at the figure walking out of the room.
The glass bottle of red liquid slipped from his limp left hand and fell toward the ground, only to be caught by Wang Ya.
"Can’t let this go to waste. A Wizard Potion. This is my first time seeing one." Wang Ya plucked the cork from Mosi’s right hand and sealed the Healing Potion.
The Shadow Slayer Blade appeared in his hand. A cold light flashed as he slit Mosi’s throat, then pierced his heart.
Wang Ya wasn’t in the habit of giving long speeches to a dying man. The best he could do was grant him the quickest death possible.
Even after his Vitality was gone, Mosi’s eyes remained fixed on Wang Ya, his stare promising a dead man’s fate.
"The rules are useless now. You were overthinking it." Wang Ya’s lips moved as he stuffed the two Witchcraft Scrolls into his pocket.
His gaze then fell on the white bracelet on Mosi’s wrist. A smile touched the corners of his mouth. ’The wealth of a newcomer from a Wizard Clan is truly extraordinary.’
’Kadi Purple Gold Flower already gave me plenty of surprises. I’m sure the surprises from Mosi Bailin will be even greater.’
