The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 44: Senseless Deprivation Witchcraft, The Slaughter Begins
Inside the study.
Wang Ya placed the list on the desk, took out a dagger, and lightly pricked his fingertip.
A drop of blood soaked into the parchment. The words on it seemed to come alive as the inky lines twisted abstractly like tangled threads, forming new text.
In the unseen world, Wang Ya felt an imperceptible gaze fall upon him, filled with a sense of justice and judgment that made his very soul tremble.
The feeling vanished as quickly as it came, but it was real. Every Wizard Contract was watched by the Eye of Judgment. Once a contract was violated, one would suffer the Eye of Judgment’s verdict.
Few Wizards knew anything about the Eye of Judgment, but for a Wizard Contract possessing an Extraordinary Effect, the price for violation had to be paid.
Only then did Wang Ya turn his gaze to the shifting words, his pupils glinting with a fine, blue light.
[Hint: Extraordinary Witchcraft inheritance detected. Analysis successful: Target is the Low-tier Witchcraft ’Sensory Deprivation’.]
He froze for a moment, then understood. This was Wizard Yi Si’s true payment. As for becoming an Executor and killing those Wizard Freshmen, the spoils of war were his by right.
In this, Wizard Yi Si had shown his generosity.
After his own initial analysis, he discovered that this Witchcraft was quite special. It wasn’t a Particle Energy Witchcraft, nor was it related to Extraordinary Cultivation or any other discipline. It was a completely new type of applied Witchcraft, related to Extraordinary Spiritual Power and even Witchcraft Willpower.
[Target: Sensory Deprivation]
[Details: By utilizing Spiritual Power, affect the target’s five senses. Note: This Witchcraft is heavily dependent on the caster’s Spiritual Power. If the target’s Spiritual Power is significantly higher than the caster’s, the Witchcraft may fail and result in backlash of varying degrees.]
’The value of this Witchcraft might far exceed the scope of a mere Low-tier Witchcraft.’
"It doesn’t seem that hard to master, either!"
Two hours later, as dawn faintly broke, Wang Ya walked out of the study. His eyes shimmered with a strange, dark light, filled with an allure that was hard to ignore. Those with weak Spiritual Power would have their minds seized, unable to control their own bodies.
Of course, that was relative to ordinary people or Wizard Freshmen with extremely poor Innate Spiritual Power. Against Wizard Freshmen with slightly higher Spiritual Power, being able to deprive them of their five senses was already quite impressive.
Wang Ya believed that as his Spiritual Power continued to increase, this special Low-tier Witchcraft would shine with a brilliance far beyond its tier.
The main difficulty in mastering this Witchcraft lay in the fine control of one’s Spiritual Power. If you understood it, you understood it instantly. But if your level of control wasn’t there yet, it was extremely difficult.
Wang Ya might not have possessed exceptionally high Innate Spiritual Power, but he was extremely sensitive to it and had astonishingly strong fine control. This was perhaps another kind of talent.
[Target: Wang Ya]
[Spiritual Power: 7.6]
[Physique: 6.7]
[Particle Energy: 3.6 units]
[Wizard Meditation Method: Vast Sea (Basic)]
[Wizard Runes: Five]
[Extraordinary Cultivated Creature: Harak (Low-tier)]
[Mastered Witchcraft: Fear-Burning Fire, Crimson Heat, Fire Elemental Particle Energy Witchcraft, Sensory Deprivation]
[Witchcraft Scrolls: Dark Deprivation (Mid-tier), Corrosive Acid (Low-tier)]
[Witchcraft Artifact: Shadow Slayer Blade]
The initial form of the Shadow Slayer Blade was a short blade, not much longer than a dagger. Wang Ya used it to replace his original dagger, dipping it into the glass bottle that held the Green Poison.
Harak flew down from the bushes and landed on his shoulder. In his black Wizard Robe, the collar pulled up to obscure the lower half of his face, Wang Ya’s black-and-apricot pupils radiated a cold, murderous intent.
After daybreak, Ancient Forest Mountain had already disappeared.
He never had much of a choice to begin with. ’As for the assessment? That’s not important anymore.’
’The number of Wizard Freshmen left is probably just enough for everyone to get a ticket. Maybe!’
’To think I’d be the one to personally take care of the last person on the Wizard Ship...’ Wang Ya laughed self-deprecatingly. ’After entering the Dark Wizard Academy, I might even earn the title of "demon butcher"!’
’It’s not important anymore... What’s important is how to complete the mission.’
The early morning sun cast down on his figure. On the Witch Array path, his shadow stretched long and thin, appearing almost distorted.
...
The Wizard Mutual Aid Association meeting was held as usual. The members had discovered that since joining, there were few cases of disappearances or deaths among them.
They were also the only group of freshmen who now dared to walk around outside.
There is strength in numbers. Sometimes, the power of unity can intimidate all opposition. Most importantly, they could also receive the Extraordinary Resources promised by the Bailin Clan, the Purple Gold Flower Clan, and other Wizard Clans.
Numerous freshmen walked out of the Ancient Forest Pavilion with smiles, chatting with one another, seemingly still savoring the gathering they just had.
Mosi and Anna were walking together. In the eyes of the other freshmen, they were already an intimate couple, and had accepted daily hand-holding and embraces.
Rafael and the others, however, didn’t look too happy. They mostly looked crestfallen, watching silently from a distance, their hearts feeling as if they were being scraped raw.
"Anna, you’re so beautiful!" Mosi said gently, his eyes full of affection. "To have won your heart is the most wonderful thing in the world, I think."
The proud white swan with fiery red hair shyly lowered her head, leaning gently into the white-haired young man’s embrace. She spoke in a bashful voice, "There are so many people here, why would you say that now?"
Mosi replied without a care, "Love is meant to be declared. If no one else knows I love you, how can it show that I truly do?"
Many of the Wizard Freshmen who overheard them immediately applauded in agreement, praising the couple’s love.
Anna, feigning anger, playfully pounded Mosi’s chest with her fists. After a moment of tenderness, they bid each other farewell and parted ways.
"Anna, see you tomorrow. Perhaps soon, our clans will acknowledge our love as well," Mosi said with deep affection. The moment he turned away, however, his expression reverted to one of mockery.
Anna felt completely immersed; she was truly in love. Walking back to the freshmen dorms, her steps were light. Like a true white swan, her figure was graceful and elegant, her fiery red hair seeming to set the very air ablaze.
Usually, freshmen like Rafael would accompany her back to the dorms. Today, however, they had left ahead of her. She didn’t mind. ’How could a toad ever hope to eat a swan’s flesh?’ For her to grant them a bit of kindness was already an act of immense mercy on her part.
Suddenly, on the Witch Array path leading to her dorm, Anna saw another figure. The black Wizard Robe seemed somewhat familiar. Finally, she recognized him by the beauty mark near the corner of his eye.
"Wang Ya, what are you doing here!" Anna frowned and said with a touch of impatience, "If you’re thinking of joining the Wizard Mutual Aid Association, I’ll be honest with you, it’s impossible. You were given a chance, but you didn’t take it. It’s too late now."
"And don’t even think about pestering Mosi to let you in. I would never agree to it."
However, she found that the other party had no particular reaction, simply continuing to walk toward her at an unhurried pace.
’His eyes... they’re so cold. As cold as if he were looking at a dead object.’
Anna shuddered, frightened. She subconsciously took a step or two back, but then grew furious. The proud white swan berated him, "What do you think you’re doing? I’m telling you, my boyfriend is Mosi Bailin! The rules of Ancient Forest Mountain don’t permit you to cross any lines. Are you insane?"
