The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Chapter 42: Do You Dare to Slaughter the Wizard Mutual Aid Association?

Wizard Yi Si spread his Spiritual Power over the paper, instantly absorbing all the information.

Most were Wizard Freshmen who had broken the rules. The list was very clear, detailing the nature of their violations.

Without a doubt, everyone on the list deserved to die.

As for the targets who deserved to die but weren’t on the list, the three of them already had them in mind.

"Gandhi, a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, joined the Water Swamp School. It’s suspected he signed a Wizard Contract with the Bailin Clan back when he was a freshman... but that’s not what matters. What matters is that he violated the rules."

Wizard Yi Si’s eyes were frighteningly cold. "Murder, evil deeds, even sacrificing a city in a blood ritual to forge a Witchcraft Artifact—every Wizard has their own path, as long as they can bear the consequences... But as for the price of violating the rules everyone abides by, I’m quite eager to see if he can afford to pay it."

Lando Wizard shivered. ’That son of a bitch actually joined the Water Swamp School? How did I not know? Dammit!’ He quickly spoke up, "Senior Brother Yi Si, let me be the one to deal with him and clean house." He silently resolved to have a word with their leader once they returned to the Dark Land.

’But joining a School is every Wizard’s right. As long as they pass the assessment, who’s to know what kind of backing they have... The rules would have to be changed by the higher-ups.’

The Wind Wizard said, "We may have slain the Dragon Rabbit Wizard, but the Three Great Wizard Clans are not weak. The Antuun Clan, in particular, has established roots in the Dark Land and even produced an Extreme Wizard Apprentice. This location is merely a branch of their clan, one that didn’t participate in the other two clans’ schemes. It makes it awkward for us to act against them."

Wizard Yi Si opened his palm. The cube-shaped device from the freshman assembly appeared. With a crackle of minute electrical currents, the device broke apart and re-formed, and a flood of images appeared on its surface.

It displayed images from the Witch Array’s path and the surrounding areas. The feed also contained evidentiary footage Wizard Yi Si had observed, even capturing conversations between Mosi and Anna, and Mosi and Kadi.

When Ancient Forest Mountain was first constructed, Wizards from the White Bone School were involved. Of course, they left a few backdoors.

The Witch Array’s path had more functions than just the ones it openly displayed.

’As for evidence related to the Wizard Slayer, it might be truly impossible to find... but once we catch the source, Wizards have many ways to see the memories inside a person’s mind.’

"Let me take care of the targets on the list, then head to Ancient Forest Wizard City to rendezvous with you, Senior Brother Yi Si," the Wind Wizard offered.

He had already guessed that Wizard Yi Si intended to go after the Bailin and Purple Gold Flower Clans alone. Given Yi Si’s temperament, he would likely just start fighting. He wasn’t worried that Wizard Yi Si would lose, but that Ancient Forest Wizard City would be destroyed in the process, and the resulting Particle Energy radiation would turn the entire surrounding area into a dead land.

Certain people in the Dark Land were utterly vile. If they used this as a pretext to cause trouble, Yi Si would likely lose his patience and challenge them to a duel to the death on the fighting stage.

"No need," Yi Si said. "I will make other arrangements for the rule-breakers among the Wizard Freshmen." For some reason, his thoughts drifted to that interesting Little Wizard.

’In terms of Power, not a single freshman at Ancient Forest Mountain is his match. It would be quite amusing to have this little guy carry out the assassinations on the list!’

’I’d like to see if this interesting little fellow can bring me any more surprises... and if he has the guts to accept this mission.’

A faint smile touched the corner of Wizard Yi Si’s lips, leaving the Wind Wizard and Lando Wizard perplexed. ’Looks like something happened that we don’t know about,’ they thought.

........

The Wizard Slayer’s attack from earlier in the night now found Wang Ya busy in his personal laboratory, which had been spared from the Witchcraft’s destruction.

The Cultivation room was likely no longer usable for cultivating Extraordinary Creatures. The concentration of Particle Energy radiation was so high that Wang Ya had to wear a radiation-proof suit just to enter and exit.

His personal laboratory, located in the deepest part of the Cultivation room, was protected by the isolation of a Witch Array, preventing the radiation from seeping in.

Wang Ya had finally managed to cultivate the Shadow Crow’s bloodline in the incubation chamber. Fortunately, there were no major problems. As long as it absorbed the nutrient solution, the Extraordinary Bloodline could remain active. Subsequent cultivation would require Extraordinary Materials, which Wang Ya currently had no way of obtaining.

The Shadow Slayer Blade was beyond repair, but the abilities Metal Activation and Destructive Energy Shield were extremely useful in Wang Ya’s hands. His first thought was to coat the blade with Green Poison and have Harak use it for strategic, covert attacks.

Wang Ya remained on edge. The threat of Gandhi Wizard and the Wizard Slayer was simply too great. ’What methods will the mastermind use against me in the next four days?’

’Now that I’ve killed a Wizard Slayer and exposed myself, they’ll surely send someone stronger to deal with me.’

He had to hold out for four days! His eyes glinted with resolve. No matter what, he would give it his all.

Suddenly, his pupils constricted. The Witch Array Core had been triggered. Someone was at the entrance to the fog—apparently looking for him—and had activated the feedback mechanism.

’Who could it be?’

’At a time like this... I just killed the Wizard Slayer, and I haven’t even cleaned up the evidence around my home yet.’

Wang Ya’s heart sank. ’Could it be someone sent by the mastermind? No, it’s too soon, and they wouldn’t be this overt.’ He quickly dismissed the idea.

In the end, Wang Ya decided to go and see for himself. Within his Fog Array, he was the master; the mist wouldn’t affect him. ’With the fog to aid me, if something seems wrong, I can just turn and run.’

As he approached the exit, he prudently kept a Middle-tier Witchcraft Scroll, ’Dark Deprivation,’ clutched in his sleeve, ready to be activated at a moment’s notice.

But the figure that slowly came into focus left him stunned.

A brown Wizard Robe, unmistakably purple hair, a cold, stone-like face, and indifferent eyes that seemed to pierce right through the fog and land upon him.

It was Wizard Yi Si!!

’Didn’t they say he wouldn’t be back for a week?’

’Gandhi Wizard would have no reason to lie about that. Did something unexpected happen?’

But a strange sense of security washed over Wang Ya. Although Wizard Yi Si looked like someone not to be trifled with, he was a far sight better than Gandhi Wizard, whose kind smile hid a sinister, backstabbing nature.

"Greetings, esteemed Master Wizard Yi Si," Wang Ya said with a slight bow, showing the proper etiquette.

A piece of parchment instantly floated before Wang Ya. His pupils constricted as he saw the names on it—some familiar, some not. He was especially bewildered to see names like Anna Karina and Rafael... the list included almost everyone from Tuta Wizard’s ship.

Wizard Yi Si said coolly, "Kill everyone on this list. Do you dare?"

Wang Ya: "..."
