The Wizard Has A Biochip
Chapter 220: Automatic defense
Even after all the improvements I had received, five Georges probably wouldn't be enough to directly face a Blood Fairy at the Pseudo-Mage level.
— Ruby, if you want to find out whether I'm really me, there's a much simpler way.
— Feel my Mana.
— My appearance can change. My scent can change too. But the fluctuation of my Mana is much harder to fake. Can you sense it?
Ruby didn't answer immediately.
She simply closed her eyes.
A few seconds later, her expression began to change.
She opened her eyes again.
The tension in her body eased slightly.
— George... You've changed so much!
She continued examining me.
I also observed her carefully.
Ruby had reached the Pseudo-Mage level.
Besides that, there was something even more interesting.
Her bloodline had advanced.
According to the records I had studied, Blood Fairies primarily classified their social status based on the purity and grade of their bloodline.
That was why their titles didn't necessarily correspond to their combat strength.
A Blood Fairy could possess an extremely powerful bloodline and receive a high title, yet still possess less combat strength than another Blood Fairy with a lower title.
In Ruby's case, her bloodline had probably already reached the Baron rank.
However, her overall strength had advanced to the Pseudo-Mage level.
That was quite impressive.
But it could also represent a problem.
Within the Blood Fairy Clan, bloodline suppression was extremely important.
A Blood Fairy with a superior bloodline could exert tremendous pressure on another with an inferior bloodline.
Even if the latter were physically stronger.
Therefore, I couldn't ignore the possibility that Ruby might encounter someone with a superior bloodline and end up being affected by the suppression.
However, she seemed more interested in something else. She crossed her arms and said.
—George, did you have sex with me while I was sleeping?
I smiled and replied.
—You're my wife, and you have the right to satisfy your man! So raping my wife's pussy isn't a bad thing.
She sighed, and her eyes turned red.
— You're lucky that this great Empress is happy about becoming stronger. Otherwise, I would punish you for this.
Then her nose moved slightly.
She continued sniffing my scent.
Then she approached me again.
— There's something different about you.
— I know.
Ruby brought her face closer to my neck.
— Can I taste it?
— Ruby...
She completely ignored my response.
Her fangs began to approach.
Then—
Fwoosh!
A small golden sphere appeared beside my neck.
Light exploded.
Ruby was immediately pushed backward.
She floated in the air and quickly regained her balance.
Her eyes remained fixed on the small sphere.
It was a golden light about the size of a thumb.
It hovered over my skin and burned silently.
After a few seconds, the small sphere apparently sensed that there was no threat. It then simply disappeared into my skin.
Ruby remained silent.
— Interesting...
She came closer again.
She extended a finger.
She touched exactly the spot where the light had appeared.
Nothing happened.
Ruby tilted her head.
Then her eyes changed.
A killing intent emerged.
Fwoosh!
The golden light appeared again.
This time, it burned directly into her finger.
Ruby pulled her hand back.
She looked at her own finger curiously.
The golden light continued burning her skin.
Then a small amount of blood energy appeared.
A few seconds later, the golden flame disappeared.
Ruby looked at me.
— What exactly is that?
— A combination of the Light Body and the Light Shield.
She blinked.
— It seems very interesting.
— It's a kind of automatic defense mechanism.
Ruby looked again at the place where the light had appeared.
— And why do you smell like sunlight?
— That happened because I spent quite a long time immersed in sunlight.
— Immersed?
— Yes.
She stared at me.
— How long was I asleep?
— Thirty-two days.
Her eyes widened.
— Thirty-two?!
— You slept quite a lot.
I spread my arms.
— And a lot happened during that time.
Ruby crossed her arms.
— Then tell me everything.
However, Ruby's stomach growled.
Ruby fell silent. I looked at her, and she turned her gaze away.
— I want to eat while you tell me.
Two hours later, I had already lost count of how many times Ruby had asked for more food.
She simply devoured everything.
Only then did the hunger coming from the depths of her bloodline seem to subside.
Ruby finally sat down, satisfied.
I settled down beside her and began explaining everything that had happened during those thirty-two days.
However, I kept a few things to myself.
I couldn't talk about everything that had happened inside the Mage Tower.
I didn't know if that Level 2 Mage was still monitoring our activities. Revealing my suspicions would be extremely reckless.
Therefore, I kept that information to myself.
When I finished explaining everything, I picked up two objects that were nearby.
I handed them to Ruby.
She held the equipment and examined it carefully.
— I know these...
— They're Mosquito's equipment.
Her eyes lit up.
— But they're different because I modified them.
I pointed at the armor.
— Now you can feed it directly with Blood-element energy.
Then I pointed at the bow.
— And this solves another problem.
Ruby tilted her head.
— What?
— Your range.
She fell silent.
— You're extremely strong in close combat. Your speed and regeneration are excellent. But you've always had one huge weakness.
Ruby narrowed her eyes.
— I don't like hearing that.
— You throw yourself at the enemy like a wild animal.
— It works.
— Until you encounter someone capable of preventing your ability to absorb blood.
She fell silent.
— At that moment, your fighting style becomes suicide.
— Now, with these items, you can attack, retreat, change positions, and wear down the enemy little by little.
— If you need to fight at close range, simply put away the bow and use your claws.
I had spent quite a long time working on that equipment.
And finally, I felt that Ruby would be able to fully utilize her combat abilities.
While she examined her new equipment, I thought about my own progress.
After finishing the modifications, I had devoted practically all my remaining time to studying Light-element spells.
I was also restoring my Golems.
