Chapter 1180: Grand Unity Human Clan, a Magical Artifact Surpassing True Divinity
During Vaan’s conversation with Seraphina, he learned more about her paternal side in the Grand Unity Human Clan.
Her paternal side was the Five Elements Empyrean Family, led by Empyrean Five Elements, a descendant of Empyrean Grand Unity, the leader of the Grand Unity Human Clan. In fact, the heads of the hundred Empyrean Families were all Empyrean Grand Unity’s descendants or relatives.
The whole Grand Unity Human Clan was ultimately one enormous, extended family.
Many disciples married into the direct and branch families and became true members of the Grand Unity Human Clan.
Even so, discrimination within the family existed, let alone against outsiders.
The bonds of marriage and shared bloodlines did not enable the hundred Empyrean Families of the Grand Unity Human Clan to coexist harmoniously. On the contrary, the infighting and competition for resources, power, and authority were even more intense than in the feudal countries of mortal realms.
The Grand Unity Human Clan was bound by familial ties, but operated like a feudal dynasty.
It held firmly to the belief that only peerless geniuses could emerge from such conflicts. At the same time, it could also weed out the useless idlers that could potentially cause its steady decline.
Strong leaders would raise a clan, but weak leaders would drag it down.
Although not everyone would agree with such philosophy, at the very least, it was working for the Grand Unity Human Clan, allowing it to remain firm and steady as a major Empyrean-level Holy Land within Chaos for countless Chaos Cycles, existing much longer than the Myriad Sea God Palace.
Of course, much of its prosperity was attributed to its ancestral clan leader, Empyrean Grand Unity, the clan’s sole Late-stage Empyrean God.
So long as the Grand Unity Human Clan had Empyrean Grand Unity as its backbone, it would remain firm among the Empyrean-level Holy Lands. Unless Empyrean Grand Unity perished, it would not decline.
Vaan also learned that the Grand Unity Human Clan’s celestial formation was quite different from the Myriad Sea God Palace’s.
Unlike the Myriad Sea God Palace, which was divided into three rings of celestial clusters, the Grand Unity Human Clan’s life planets were completely fused into a single celestial body, making it appear extremely vast and boundless.
It was a life planet the size of a galaxy, with multiple layers of star rings orbiting it from great distances, ultimately controlling the planet’s surface temperature, allowing even the most ordinary of lifeforms to thrive with ease.
"That’s quite interest. In other words, mortals and gods alike live on the same surface land?" Vaan figured as Seraphina explained the Grand Unity Human Clan’s specialty.
"That’s right," Serpahina nodded before saying, "The surface conditions are very suitable for mortals to live. They would not feel any overbearing pressure from such a high-level realm as they would do here."
"This is because the governing laws of the Grand Unity Human Clan are very different from the Myriad Sea God Palace’s. The laws over there seem to be conditioned to make the Holy Land especially habitable for mortal growth."
"As such, newborns will not face any danger from the natural forces of the environment, even if they don’t receive any protection from their parents. On the contrary, it’s the higher-level beings that are suppressed by the Grand Unity Human Clan’s governing laws."
"The higher one’s level, the more suppression one will face, greatly limiting the power one can exert. I heard that even True Divinities are suppressed to the divine realm, while Divine Beings won’t be able to exert power above the mortal realm."
"Even the Empyreans are no exception to the Grand Unity Human Clan’s suppressive laws. Only Empyrean Grand Unity is free from the suppression, able to wield his full might, or even borrow the Holy Land’s power."
"Basically, Empyrean Grand Unity is invincible in his Holy Land," Seraphina stated.
"That’s rather interesting," Vaan commented, seemingly perplexed and dumbfounded. He soon asked, "Won’t the suppression of so many high-level beings weaken the Holy Land’s defense?"
"Not at all," Seraphina shook her head before saying, "The main life domain is protected by multiple formations of stars. The power of these star formations is so strong that even Empyreans can die if they forcefully invade the Holy Land."
"Unless Empyrean Grand Unity granted permission, no one outside the Holy Land can enter or even get close. That’s why the Grand Unity Human Clan seldom receives outsiders." ṛAΝÔ𐌱Èᶊ
"The Grand Unity Human Clan is basically one enormous magical artifact that truly surpasses True Divinity, not something our Myriad Sea God Palace can compare to."
"I see."
Vaan could help but sigh at the disparity between the Grand Unity Human Clan and Pangea. The human race was truly the overlord of Chaos. Just a single Holy Land belonging to humans was already this powerful.
If Pangea had been part of such a great force, it wouldn’t be struggling for its survival.
’No, that’s not right. The Grand Unity Human Clan indeed sounds impressive, but it is also extremely vast, encompassing countless humans. Its thriving prosperity is just an illusion; the bloodbath and destruction it experiences could also be many times greater than Pangea.’
Danger existed everywhere in the Grand Unity Human Clan; it just took a different form from Pangea’s.
If Pangea had truly been a part of the Grand Unity Human Clan, it would have already been swallowed up by another human power in their contest for power and resources.
’Pangea’s external threat is indeed great, but the Grand Unity Human Clan’s internal conflict is just as great, if not greater,’ Vaan contemplated.
Even so, he was looking forward to visiting the Grand Unity Human Clan, nonetheless. He was not deterred by its internal strife and dangers.
If he could carve out his own territory in the Grand Unity Human Clan, he could also migrate Pangea’s people there for refuge. Even if they fail to thrive, getting enslaved by other human powers was still better than facing extinction from extraterrestrial threats.
Of course, there was no need to put all his eggs in one basket.
There might be better alternatives.
However, just having this additional option to fall back on was still reassuring, alleviating some of the pressure on him.
That said, Vaan was curious how such a powerful Holy Land was formed.
"Since the Grand Unity Human Clan is considered a magical artifact surpassing True Divinity, I wonder who created it? I couldn’t have been done by the hands of Empyrean Grand Unity and his fellow Empyreans, right?" Vaan asked.
"Ah, you are right about that, Sir Vaan. Perceptive of you to have noticed," Seraphina acknowledged before saying, "Indeed, Empyrean Grand Unity couldn’t have created such a powerful Holy Land, even if he borrowed the help of the other hundred Empyreans."
"Of course, the Grand Unity Human Clan wasn’t so powerful originally either. It was with the help of the Lord of Chaos and other Human Clans before the Grand Unity Human Clan finally evolved into a Holy Land surpassing True Divinity."
"Undoubtedly, Empyrean Grand Unity paid no small price to receive such a favor either," Seraphina believed.
"That makes sense." Vaan nod.
Believing he had learned enough about the Grand Unity Human Clan, all there was left to do was to visit it and see it with his own eyes.
Hearing from others was never the same as seeing with one’s own eyes.
"Thank you for your patient explanation, Lady Seraphina. I have learned much about the Grand Unity Human Clan from you."
"You are too courteous, Sir Vaan. It was a pleasure to talk to you."
Seraphina flashed a charming smile, and her earlier uneasiness had long dissipated. She was able to distract herself by focusing on the topic of their discussion.
Yet, now that it was over, she still didn’t become as nervous.
Perhaps it was Vaan’s calmness that kept her calm as well.
"I must get going, Lady Seraphina. There are quite a few things I must settle before we depart for the Grand Unity Human Clan," Vaan politely informed, preparing for his departure.
Even though he understood that Empyrean Oceanheart was trying to marry her great-granddaughter to him, matters of the heart couldn’t be forced or rushed. Thus, he could only take it one step at a time.
A forced or rushed relationship was inevitably flawed and not long-lasting.
Since such a relationship wouldn’t last, it was better not to have it.
Vaan had to admit that he was a possessive man. He would not want his relationship with his woman to fail, only to see them later in the arms of another man. If they choose him, they should think about having another man.
Of course, they also had to accept that they could not monopolize his affection.
If they couldn’t accept this, then they should not have chosen to be with him in the first place. Otherwise, this flaw of his was something they all had to accept.
Vaan could tell that Seraphina was unlike his other women; she was a sheltered princess with naive ideas and dreams of pure love. She wouldn’t be able to accept the truth about his relationship with other women.
However, it was also not something he could hide from her before they decided to commit to a relationship.
Still, it was not the right time to admit the truth either.
Thus, Vaan could only wait for a more opportune time to reveal it. The conditions weren’t right, so he could only take things slow, one step at a time.
