Chapter 1174: Unstoppable Corruption
Chapter 1174: Unstoppable Corruption
"Sir Vaan, what do you make of this situation?" Empyrean Oceanheart sought Vaan’s opinion after they received multiple discovery reports from the True Divinities.
Each report detailed the discovery of the Corrupted Earth Law, its location, and the extent of its spread among the earthen elements within that location.
When the discovery reports were compared, the extent of the Corrupted Earth Law was, more or less, on the same level, affecting similar amounts of earthen elements within each subterranean region.
No other governing law seemed to be affected, at least on the surface, since the True Divinities focused on the subterranean world.
As for the local vassal clans and residents, the investigation could only be postponed. It wasn’t their priority.
"Seeing how only the Earth Law appears to be corrupted, we can assume that a powerful Outerworlder is proficient in the Earth Law. This has led to the current situation we face."
"While this is terrible news for us, it is also quite interesting," Vaan thought.
"How so?"
"Outerworlders are essentially beings of a higher dimension. They have their own laws to comprehend and follow. Yet, they are learning the laws of our dimension. This means they are willingly adapting and integrating with our dimension."
Vaan narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
The Outerworlders were difficult to kill because their true self existed in a different dimension.
Their physical manifestation in the third dimension was not much different from just dipping their toes or fingers in the water. Thus, even if they lose them to the fish, they could just regenerate new ones.
The lost of a finger or toe hardly affected the Outerworlders and wouldn’t pose any threat to their existence.
However, if the Outerworlders were adapting to the third dimension, going so far as to learn the local laws, they were essentially bringing their true selves into the dimension, giving up their invincibility.
Empyrean Oceanheart quickly understood the underlying implications.
"In other words, they can be killed now?" Empyrean Oceanheart suspected.
"Yes, they can be killed," Vaan nodded before adding, "However, whether we are capable of killing them is another story."
"An Outerworlder powerful enough to corrupt the Earth Law here must be extremely strong, definitely on par with the Lord of Chaos. Moreover, its influence on the Earth Law should be much more extensive than we can imagine." ȒᴀȎᛒËṥ
Vaan frowned as he said this.
Empyrean Oceanheart’s eyes also sharpened as she listened. She immediately thought of the spatial tunnel connecting the main battlefield and Dark Horizon.
Originally, the Myriad Sea God Palace shouldn’t have anything to do with the Outerworlders, being positioned quite far away from the Great Wilderness.
However, because of the existence of the spatial tunnel that connected the main battlefield to the Dark Horizon, they had practically become neighbours, and as a result, allowed the Outerworlders’ influence to reach the Myriad Sea God Palace.
"Sigh. This is unbelievable. We originally thought we could make use of the endless opportunities in the Dark Horizon to enrich ourselves. Who knew we were slowly poisoning our own world after all this time?" Empyrean Oceanheart lamented, feeling deep regret.
Keeping the Dark Horizon was the agreement of the Myriad Sea God Palace’s twelve Empyreans.
Although they knew they were playing with fire, they thought they were powerful enough to control the danger.
It was only now that Empyrean Oceanheart realized how arrogant and ignorant they had all been, and irredeemably so. The opportunities in the Dark Horizon and the main battlefield weren’t theirs to exploit without a price.
Where did they even find such confidence when the Outerworlders were filled with Beyond True Divinity-level existences?
They were simply blinded by greed.
"Is it still possible to remedy this situation, Sir Vaan?" Empyrean Oceanheart seriously hoped.
Unfortunately, Vaan’s response disappointed her.
"That’s unlikely. Even if we can remove the Dark Horizon and collapse the spatial tunnel now, it won’t stop the Earth Law that has already been corrupted," Vaan said after a bit of pondering.
The Corrupted Earth Law was essentially in the midst of evolving into an Origin Law, on the same level as the Asura Law.
That was not a realm of power that True Divinities could interfere with.
Only a Beyond True Divinity-level powerhouse like the Lord of Chaos could do something about it.
However, how could the Lord of Chaos be so free as to pay any attention to them?
The Myriad Sea God Palace might be an Empyrean-level Holy Land, but it only occupied a fraction of a Star Sector, far from an entire Chaosverse. Within a whole Chaosverse, there were at least hundreds, if not thousands, of Star Sectors.
As such, the number of Empyrean-level Holy Lands was actually many, and the Myriad Sea God Palace only ranked among the bottom in terms of strength, very insignificant.
The busy Lord of Chaos had no reason to value it above the other, more powerful Empyrean-level Holy Lands.
Unfortunately, without Lord of Chaos, who else could help the Myriad Sea God Palace?
"Is there really no way to stop the corruption?" Empyrean Oceanheart asked helplessly with a sense of powerlessness.
Despite being a mighty Empyrean God, she still found herself incapable of playing any significant role in the grand scheme of things. Problems related to the Outerworlders could only be tackled by the most elite powerhouses of Chaos.
In front of Beyond True Divinity-level existences, True Divinities were no different from mortals.
"Unless we have a Beyond True Divinity-level powerhouse or a large army of Soul Masters to help us, I don’t see any other way. My power alone is limited. Even if I want to help, I can’t stop all of the corruption," Vaan stated.
Given the steady flow of similar reports, he could already imagine the extent of the Corrupted Earth Law.
Even if the power of thought allowed him to restore the Corrupted Earth Law, he lacked the energy reserve to restore all of its. His efforts would be no different from scooping water out of a sinking ship.
No matter how fast he scooped the water out, the ship would still sink faster.
The scale of the corruption was simply too large for him to make any effective changes to its rate of spread.
"Sigh..."
Empyrean Oceanheart sighed again after hearing Vaan’s answer.
The Beyond True Divinity Realm, also known as the Origin Creation Realm, was simply too distant a concept for an ordinary Empyrean God like her.
Besides the Lord of the Boundless Seas and Skies, the Lord of Chaos was the only other existence she knew that was at this level of power. But even if she knew, no one in the Myriad Sea God Palace possessed enough influence to meet and request his help.
As such, finding another Origin Creator to resolve the Myriad Sea God Palace’s crisis was impossible.
As for receiving the help of a large army of Soul Masters, that was also impossible. Soul Masters were extremely rare, to begin with. Only the Soul Master Association could raise an army of Soul Masters.
However, the Soul Masters were generally scattered across Chaos.
Even if they could round up the scattered Soul Masters to form an army, they had no reason to help the Myriad Sea God Palace tide over its crisis when they had their own troubles to worry about.
After all, it was impossible for the Outerworlders to sit still if they found an opportunity to eliminate a large number of Soul Masters at once.
As such, even if the Myriad Sea God Palace wanted to sell itself to the Soul Master Association, the Soul Master Association still wouldn’t agree to lend its helping hand.
"Do we have no other choice but to migrate once the Corrupted Earth Law becomes too severe?" Empyrean Oceanheart pondered with a frown.
Vaan also thought about it, but he couldn’t see a clear path ahead.
Given that the Dark Horizon would form around any large Holy Land, it was safe to assume that every Holy Land had a shortcut to the main battlefield via a spatial tunnel created by the Outerworlders.
As such, it was also safe to assume that every other Holy Land faced the same problem, whether they were already aware of it or still ignorant of it.
Even if the Myriad Sea God Palace decided to migrate, where could it go?
It had no choice but to move to another Holy Land of a higher level, but if even that wasn’t an option, then which place could accept such a large number of sea races?
Would they have to rebuild the Myriad Sea God Palace from scratch in a desolate void region?
However, that would greatly delay its development.
This kind of self-preservation strategy was just delaying the inevitable. It wouldn’t help resolve the overall problem nor contribute to its cause.
In other words, Chaos was slowly losing, and they could do nothing but watch.
"Although the current situation with the Outerworlders seems terribly bad for all life in Chaos, it’s not necessarily bad for Chaos itself," Vaan uttered after some thought.
"Oh?" Empyrean Oceanheart was immediately surprised by Vaan’s comment. She quickly asked, "What do you mean by that, Sir Vaan?"
