Chapter 1127: Problem of Six Paths
Chapter 1127: Problem of Six Paths
"Do you know why most beings generally only focus on one or two paths, but no more than three?" Empyrean Oshenra calmly asked.
"I would say it’s because of a lack of talent, but this is clearly not the answer," Vaan thought.
After all, the denizens of Chaos were fundamentally different from life forms of the original universe; they had already escaped the lifespan limit at the divine rank.
Without the limit of lifespan, they could pick up new paths whenever they reach an unbreakable bottleneck in their main path, exploring more possibilities to find one that could upgrade their level of existence further.
However, in reality, few actually chose to do so, stubbornly persisting in their original path without any hope of progress, yet desperately clinging to it.
Why was that the case?
"You’re not wrong, but not entirely correct either," Empyrean Oshenra added, saying, "For most beings, pursuing additional paths is indeed impossible, not just due to a lack of talent, but also opportunities, resources, and destiny."
"However, this isn’t why most beings avoid choosing to cultivate additional paths; it’s because doing so is equivalent to cutting off one’s path to True Divinity," Empyrean Oshenra stated.
"Oh?" Vaan raised an eyebrow.
"True Divinity is a state of existence when one’s cultivation has reached the limit of refinement, transforming into eternal Divine Essence, capable of self-sustenance, no longer depending on worldly resources for preservation and growth," Empyrean Oshenra said.
"For example, True Divinity is achieved in the path of magic when mana can be accumulated through self-production of the mana core instead of constant consumption from the existing world."
"Putting it another way, True Divinity is achieved when you can exist alongside heaven without taking from it. Instead, you have your own heaven to sustain you. Many call this state ’becoming one with heaven.’"
"It doesn’t necessarily mean you truly become a part of heaven; you just become another heaven within this existing heaven, capable of assisting its expansion."
"Of course, if you were to tread the sole path of law to True Divinity, then you would truly become a part of heaven as one of its governing laws. This is also the simplest method of reaching True Divinity."
"However, it is also the hardest to accept for most beings as True Divinities of the law path lose their form and individuality. This type of eternity is considered a cage."
"Still, laws are indispensable toward achieving True Divinity in any given path. Whether it is the path of magic, energy, body, or soul, the study and relevance of law cannot be ignored, let alone skipped."
"After all, we are all born as mortals. How can we become one with heaven if we do not understand the way of heaven?" Empyrean Oshenra mentioned.
Vaan nodded, finding her point reasonable.
Not wanting to understand the laws while pursuing True Divinity was like trying to become a doctor without learning medicine or its practice.
"In fact, it’s not just limited to laws. Any chosen path would inevitably involve details of other paths," Empyrean Oshenra added.
"For example, in the path of magic, we continue to refine and transform mana, and in turn, allow it to refine the body and transform the soul. At the same time, without a sturdy body and powerful soul, we wouldn’t be able to contain or control higher levels of mana." ṜᴀꞐο₿ÈṦ
"As such, it’s necessary to delve into other paths, practicing suitable methods to assist the advancement of magic."
"However, such common means of practice are only supplementary, very different from your case. You didn’t just practice body, spirits, energy, magic, soul, and law, but took all six paths as your main paths, advancing to a level that is hard to extricate from," Empyrean Oshenra said with a stern look.
"Practicing one path to True Divinity is difficult enough, and yet you are treading six paths simultaneously! With great accomplishment in each path, your battle power would, without a doubt, be unrivaled within the same realm!"
"Unfortunately, it also increases the difficulty of your breakthrough to True Divinity exponentially and not as simple as a sixfold increase!" Empyrean Oshenra emphasized as she explained the problem of Vaan’s six-paths cultivation.
"You might not realize the problem yet, but it will become evident once you reach the peak of the divine in any path—you’ll find it extremely difficult to advance a single path to True Divinity level."
"This is because the other existing paths within your body will clash with its transformation, preventing the breakthrough to True Divinity. No matter which path you pick to advance, the other paths would obstruct its advancement."
"Provided that you don’t embark on any more paths, the only solution is to harmonize all six paths and advance them all to True Divinity simultaneously. Alas, this kind of solution is as good as none," Empyrean Oshenra sighed.
Not only was this method exceedingly difficult, but it was also equally treacherous.
The vessel of existence could only accommodate and adapt to so much power at once. The transformation of six different powers into Divine Essence would undoubtedly overload the vessel, ultimately leading to a violent death by explosion.
After listening to Empyrean Oshenra’s explanation, Vaan’s eyes flickered with realization and enlightenment.
Nevertheless, the concept of "Jack of all trades, master of none" was something he understood very well. He never thought his chosen path would be easy. No, it would only get much harder.
However, if his path was easy, how could he expect to rise above others and become supreme once he succeeded?
A mediocre path would only lead to a mediocre outcome.
Since he dared to tread the path untreaded by others, it was bound to be extraordinary upon achieving success!
"Thank you for your guidance, Empyrean. I have learned much and understood the logic behind it. However, I still have confidence in succeeding," Vaan humbly insisted with confidence.
Empyrean Oshenra’s knowledge was enlightening, but it was ultimately limited to the third dimension.
With Vaan’s fourth-dimensional talent, impossibilities could be turned into possibilities.
Nevertheless, Vaan did not lie.
He had indeed learned something from Empyrean Oshenra’s guidance. Even though he had confidence in reaching True Divinity with his heaven-defying talent, the difficulty would still be exceedingly high.
At the same time, the path to Beyond True Divinity would be even higher.
If there were a way to lower the difficulty of advancing to True Divinity and Beyond True Divinity without losing the potential gains, he should definitely take it.
Preparations couldn’t wait until True Divinity; it had to start now.
’Since it becomes more difficult to harmonize with six paths, is it possible to reduce the requirement without abandoning any of the paths?’ Vaan pondered.
