Chapter 1082: Explosive Popularity

Chapter 1082: Explosive Popularity

The rehabilitated Junior Disciples were feverish with joy as they pranced around other frowning disciples, singing praises of Vaan’s incredible feat and ability like as if they were their own.

It wasn’t their achievement, but it didn’t stop the rehabilitated Junior Disciples from sharing the joy and basking in Vaan’s glory.

After all, they had completely made up their minds to join Vaan’s faction once he established it. Of course, since it wasn’t officially established yet, they could only be considered to be part of a fan group.

"Hehehe, did you hear? Did you hear? Noble Vaan read one million old books in a week! Can your lord do that? Can he?"

"Get lost! Otherwise, I will kill you! You are disgusting me!"

Although everyone was annoyed by the actions of the rehabilitated Junior Disciples, they were unable to refute or silence them. These rehabilitated Junior Disciples were like high on drugs and didn’t seem to fear or understand the meaning of death; threats did not work on them.

Furthermore, they couldn’t resort to violence unless they didn’t care about the Holy Land’s laws. It didn’t seem worthwhile to file an official challenge either.

After all, these rehabilitated Junior Disciples were glued to the Chamber of Dilemmas for countless years. If they had anything of value, they wouldn’t have been stuck there for so long.

They were just poor peasants.

As such, even if they wanted to gain something from them through official duels, there was nothing to be gained. It was just a waste of time and effort. In fact, they would be suffering a loss.

Everyone felt their blood pressure rising under the pestering of the rehabilitated Junior Disciples. They all had silent, gloomy, and uncomfortable expressions.

Truly felt like stepping on shit; no matter how much they scraped their feet, they couldn’t get rid of the smell. Likewise, they couldn’t free themselves from the pestering.

They began to regret making casual negative remarks about Noble Vaan in the past several days. It would have been fine if the rehabilitated Junior Disciples hadn’t heard it. But since they did, they held a grudge that didn’t seem to be easy to forget.

"Dammit, how are these trash fish-men like us? They must have crow ancestors or something," an annoyed Senior Disciple commented.

"Forget it. Everyone had indeed underestimated Noble Vaan. Even if no one understood his actions, a Noble Being, in the end, is still a Noble Being. His talent is monstrous beyond imagination," another Senior Disciple admitted helplessly.

Ultimately, all the disciples whom the rehabilitated Junior Disciples’ harassment had targeted decided to hide in their cultivation chambers. They would only come out after the situation died down.

In the Outer Palace, which was strictly governed by rules and laws, one of the most dreadful experiences was to be the sole target of an angry mob that could not be deterred or intimidated. In fact, doing so might even be more counterproductive.

After all, what was the purpose of everyone joining the Outer Palace?

To make great cultivation progress!

If they attracted the attention of an angry mob that feared neither gods nor devils, how could they make any cultivation progress at all?

If the angry mob gathered outside of their cultivation chamber and made noises every day, they would not be able to cultivate with any peace of mind at all! What was even more terrifying was the fact that this angry mob had nothing to lose! ṟäꞐɵΒËS̩

Even if they want to teach the rehabilitated Junior Disciples a lesson through an official duel, it would still be an arduous task to file a challenge to every single one of them!

Furthermore, it was also hard to tell if the rehabilitated Junior Disciples dared to challenge them again after receiving their beatings! After all, they were all stubborn cockroaches who were willing to suffer outside the Chamber of Dilemmas for many years!

They all had the capacity to resort to such shameless and roguish methods in order to prove a point!

"Ahem, these fellow brothers, I feel deeply regretful about what I said about a Noble Vaan a few days ago. I apologize for that, alright? Let’s not make each other’s lives hard. It’s better to make peace than hatred, don’t you think?" a Senior Disciple said.

Surprisingly, the small group of rehabilitated Junior Disciples easily accepted his half-hearted apology and left him alone.

What was important was that they had received an apology. That was enough to satisfy everyone.

After all, forcing a proud disciple of higher status to make such a concession was considered a significant achievement. Since they had achieved their goal, they didn’t need to push things any further.

As the Senior Disciple said, it was better to make peace than to harbor hatred. They were fellow sect members, not mortal enemies.

In fact, the Holy Land emphasized unity and harmony despite its competitive design. This was to encourage interactions between the disciples, allowing bonds to form through socializing.

If such considerations weren’t taken into account, many disciples would have just become antisocial shut-ins, staying cooped up inside their cultivation chambers all the time.

More importantly, such shut-in disciples were a greater risk to the Holy Land’s stability and order. They were less tolerant of others’ actions and were more likely to break the Holy Land’s laws.

Such disciples could give others a death sentence and act on it when they had the opportunity—simply because they were offended by the slightest offense.

’If one apology can save me from endless headaches, I wouldn’t mind apologizing every time I encounter these sorts of problems,’ the Senior Disciple thought.

Surprisingly, he did not feel any humiliation. It was just a trivial matter in comparison to the bigger picture.

...

In Sleepless City, one of the main entertainment regions in the Merfolk Domain, a silver-haired mermaid was casually swiping through a list of Pomposity channels on an electronic tablet inside of potion-selling cafe when a certain detail caught her attention.

"Oh my Varuna! Noble Vaan’s Pomposity channel exploded! It has only been a few minutes since the news was spread, but Noble Vaan has already gained more than 200 million subscribers!"

"Good Aegeon, you are right, Sister Peirene!" another silver-haired mermaid sitting beside her exclaimed with wide eyes before mentioning, "Noble Vaan only had 30 million subs after his achievement at the Grand Chamber of Dilemma. However, that quickly dropped to 10 million after his days of inactivity."

"To think that it would suddenly increase by so much in just a few minutes after the news spread. This rate of growth is so frightening! I can’t imagine how many subs he will have after the momentum ends!"

"Hehehe, those Professors who spent hundreds of thousands of years to rack up ten million subs would feel so disheartened if they saw this," Peirene giggled at the thought.

"Aish, Noble Beings are in a completely different league," the other silver-haired mermaid sighed unsympathetically before smirking, "If those Professors are smart, they will not try to compare themselves to Noble Vaan. Doing so would only make them bald faster."

"Hahaha. Don’t let Professor Guadalupe hear you say that. It’s going to get you in trouble. What if he bans you from his channel? That would be a huge loss!" Peirene laughed as she recalled Professor Guadalupe’s appearance.

"I know, I know. Professor Guadalupe’s online lectures are always excellent and enlightening. I’m sure he always put a lot of effort and thought into making them. But even his high earnings can’t seem to save... his hairline!"

"Pftt! Hahahaha, you’re killing me, Sister Cherith." Peirene hugged her stomach in laughter.
