Chapter 1071: The World’s Survival Instinct

Chapter 1071: The World’s Survival Instinct

"The Upper Stars are completely disappointed in you. Our faction was finally blessed with a Noble Being from this golden generation, and yet, what did you do?"

"Not only did you not bring the Noble Being to the main faction quarters for the greatest treatment and nurturing, but you have also allowed the Noble Being to give up his special privileges."

"As a result, many great beings in the Myriad Sea God Palace have been offended, and our faction has also suffered a loss of respect and standing."

"Your irresponsibility and thoughtlessness have affected the faction’s businesses and endangered its existence. So tell me, do you think you are still innocent?"

Deacon Quintus’s expression darkened after listening to Lars Mercator’s explanation. While he partially agreed with some of what Lars Mercator said, he also felt that they were greatly exaggerated.

In fact, he was more inclined to believe Lars and the faction’s Upper Stars were trying to make a problem out of nothing to justify their intent to remove him from his position.

After all, being the gatekeeper of the Proteus Gate of Stars granted him the opportunity to form first-hand connections with all the genius inheritors who arrive through the water rift gates.

For disciples with limited talent and lacking a background in the faction, who wouldn’t want the chance to be connected to future powerhouses?

Unfortunately, Deacon Quintus’s suspicion was wrong.

Lars Mercator saw through his thoughts and looked down on him even more. Even Deacon Quintus felt the prickly gaze of contempt.

"This is why I detest visiting the Outer Palace; it is full of short-sighted fools and narrow-minded idiots," Lars Mercator snorted with dissatisfaction.

"Even after everything I said, you still fail to comprehend the gravity of your crime and its consequences. Do you really think the Upper Stars would be interested in your boring position?"

"Perhaps the Middle Stars and lower-ranking members would be interested in it, but not the Upper Stars," Lars stated.

The Upper Stars were all Core Palace disciples and genuine True Divinity powerhouses. Every one of them had been heralded as geniuses of their time.

Why would they need to flatter fledgling geniuses who have not succeeded yet?

Deacon Quintus gradually realized he wasn’t being unfairly targeted for no reason. There was more to the story—beyond his imagination.

"Is a cataclysmic storm coming?" Deacon Quintus asked.

"Hmph, you better believe it is!" Lars snorted and said, "Eight Noble Beings in a thousand years is already not normal, let alone nine."

"Only the ignorant mass would believe this golden generation of Noble Beings is a sign of good fortune for the Myriad Sea God Palace and welcome it."

"However, anyone who understands the laws of causality would only feel dread and fear toward this situation!" Lars gravely stated.

"Why?" Quintus asked ignorantly, but he felt a sense of gravity.

"Because this kind of unprecedented blessing from the world is a manifestation of its instinct to survive!" Lars strongly stated.

"Only when the world senses its impending doom would it give birth to many peerless talents! Heroes are born in chaotic times to avert disasters!"

"Now, do you understand the gravity of your mistake?!" Lars barked.

The revelation shook Deacon Quintus.

Ever since Vaan’s arrival, many disciples started wondering how great the Myriad Sea God Palace would become with nine Noble Beings in a single generation. ɽåNố₿Ё𝙨

However, now, Deacon Quintus realized that was the wrong question.

What everyone should be asking is, "What kind of upcoming disaster requires nine Noble Beings to be born in a single generation in order to face it?"

The very thought filled Deacon Quintus’s heart with dread.

After all, ten thousand Gaian years made up one generation, the period during which all beings experienced their quickest growth.

However, nine Noble Beings had already been born in a thousand Gaian years. How many more would be born in the next nine thousand Gaian years?

No one even knew when the upcoming disaster would arrive.

Still, Deacon Quintus understood, at the very least, that the scale and destruction of the upcoming disaster would be unprecedented in the history of the Myriad Sea God Palace.

Deacon Quintus exhaled a long stream of air bubbles before sincerely requesting, "Please give me a chance to amend my mistake."

"I will personally visit the Young Noble and advise him to change his mind," Deacon Quintus solemnly assured.

Since the Upper Stars believed a disaster of unprecedented magnitude was coming, it was not the time for the Young Noble to be willful.

The Noble Beings had to receive the Myriad Sea God Palace’s special nurturing and raise their strength as much as possible and as quickly as possible.

"That won’t be necessary," Lars coldly denied.

"Because of your lack of responsibility, the Noble Being has already offended many figures in the Myriad Sea God Palace. Of course, the Noble Being will still receive the Holy Land’s special nurturing."

"However, before that, his arrogance needs to be curbed," Lars stated before giving Deacon Quintus a condescending side glance.

"You, on the other hand, need to follow me back to the main faction quarters and await your punishment. Will you resist or follow me obediently?"

"I will follow you obediently," Deacon Quintus softly sighed with resignation and helplessness.

Even if he wanted to resist, he was just an insect before a Divine Emperor.

As such, Quintus could only obey.

...

After leaving the Grand Exchange Hall, Vaan did not return to his cultivation chamber.

The Myriad Sea God Place had far too many interesting places to visit. How could he stay cooped up in one place?

With the Pompos recording his every step, Vaan wasn’t afraid to encounter trouble.

Among the places Vaan wanted to visit, the Myriad Sea God Palace’s Soul Master Hall was undoubtedly at the top of the list.

As an Empyrean-level Holy Land, the Myriad Sea God Palace possessed vast knowledge and covered many areas of cultivation, if not all.

Naturally, it would at least know a thing or two about the cultivation of Soul Masters.

Although the Myriad Sea God Palace’s Soul Master Hall couldn’t compare to the Soul Master Association, it could still guide beginners on the path of true soul cultivation.

Once Vaan learned the creation method for Divine Water, earning contribution points wouldn’t be an issue.

Unfortunately, Vaan needed to recover his credits. Thus, the Soul Master Hall wasn’t the first destination he had in mind.

Furthermore, attending the open lectures at the Soul Master Hall wasn’t free either.

He might have 100 years to get his balance back up to 100 credits. However, the sooner he achieved it, the sooner he would have fewer things to worry about.
