Chapter 100 – Fine, he was just stating the truth (3)

Little Wang wouldn’t know today was his birthday, so she definitely couldn’t have found out from him. There weren’t many people that would know either. Of those that had known, they were busy with their careers and families. They probably forgot today was his birthday. And, they didn’t have much interaction with Ruan Xia. So then, how did Ruan Xia find out?

“When I was looking through my stuff today, I happened to see our marriage certificate. It had your birthday on it,” Ruan Xia explained, “I was thinking that you’re probably not missing anything, so I didn’t get you a gift and made you a cake instead.”

Song Tingshen was silent for a moment before he said, “Thank you, I like it a lot.”

Little Wang was happy there was cake to eat. As soon as he sat down, he urged his parents to cut the cake.

Ruan Xia pretended to look at him in askance. “Did you not hear? Today is dad’s birthday. Did you not get him a gift?”

“… I didn’t know.” Little Wang very calmly accused, “Mom, you’re responsible too. You didn’t tell me.”

Ruan Xia smiled at him. “Well, you know now. You’re not going to do anything?”

Little Wang thought it over. “I’ll sing a song for dad!”

After lighting the candles on the cake, Ruan Xia specially turned off the lights in the private room. Before she could sit back down, she heard Little Wang loudly singing happy birthday.

His singing was a bit off tune, but a child’s soft and milky voice sounded cute even when it was out of tune. Ruan Xia gave him a generous round of applause to praise him. Sometimes, you had to give a kid encouragement. Who knows? He might become a superstar in the future.

Song Tingshen’s gaze was soft. He looked at his cute son and then accidentally looked at Ruan Xia. Her head was tilted, and she was sweetly smiling at their son.

The family of three shared the cake together. Ruan Xia decided to take a break from her strict diet because today was Song Tingshen’s birthday. Since she had transmigrated here, she hadn’t dared to overeat rice and noodles during meals. Fortunately, she hadn’t made a big cake. After the three people had eaten their slices of cake, there was still some cake leftover, and they had room for dinner.

Since there was a kid present and Song Tingshen normally didn’t drink much, they had the waiter bring over juice.

“Little Wang, come, raise your cup. We’ll wish dad a happy birthday together.” Ruan Xia picked up her cup and Little Wang immediately copied her.

Song Tingshen could only pick up the cup next to his hand too. The three glass cups knocked against each other and made a clear clinking sound.

For a man in his thirties, birthdays weren’t important at all. When he was young and had plentiful energy, he would make plans with a few friends to go out to eat and drink to celebrate. In the past few years, everyone had been busy with their own stuff, so it wasn’t possible to coordinate a time when everyone was free. During the past three years, Little Wang was too little, so he couldn’t bring him out. And so, his birthday came and went like any other day.

He didn’t know how it had happened, but this year, he was actually in the mood to go out as a family to eat a meal together.

He hadn’t planned on telling Ruan Xia that today was his birthday and make this dinner a special occasion. It was just going to be an ordinary meal like the one they had at Pizza Hut.

He hadn’t expected that she would find out or that she would prepare a birthday cake.

There were only two thoughts in Song Tingshen’s mind right now. The first thought was that someone was helping him celebrate his birthday and that felt pretty good. And the second thought was that this cake tasted a lot better than previous cakes he had eaten.

Song Tingshen looked at Ruan Xia and very seriously said, “Thank you.”
