Chapter 130: Chapter 57: Selas Bomont

"As long as I’m here, they will definitely show up, including the mastermind behind the scenes."

Lilia’s tone was certain. "That’s the whole point of a bait."

Veronica looked worried. "...Do you think the mastermind will come to deal with you personally?"

"Definitely." Lilia smiled.

Veronica didn’t know why she was so certain, as if... she knew the mastermind very well. But this didn’t stop her from choosing to believe Lilia.

Veronica nodded slightly. "In that case, I’ll go make the arrangements right now."

Offense was different from defense. Whether it was the distribution of high-level forces or the deployment of basic formations, fundamental changes had to be made. She was just about to leave when Lilia called out to stop her.

"It’s not just a counterattack," the girl said. "We also need to strengthen the defense."

"We’ve been doing that," Veronica agreed first before asking, "Will those Demons make a comeback?"

Lilia nodded. "The mastermind might also strike."

Veronica froze for a moment, but soon came to a realization. If that person really wanted to capture or kill Lilia, when would be the best time? A war had just ended, and the human forces were still recovering and resting...

This was the best time!

"Your Highness!"

A Mage’s sharp voice interrupted Veronica’s train of thought. "Please retreat as soon as possible!"

Veronica ignored his warning. Sure enough, it was just as Lilia had expected.

This guy actually came!

Down below, ghostly blue flames flared intensely. After a brief pause, the bowstring snapped. A burning Arrow shot straight toward the towering city gate tower like a reverse shooting star!

Almost at the exact same time, an extremely dazzling light suddenly burst forth atop the city wall! A complex Array unfolded in the air, perfectly blocking the Arrow’s inevitable path.

The next second, the two collided in midair, emitting a crisp, resonant twang.

...It was blocked!

The Mage next to Veronica was dumbfounded. He had been stationed here for so long... How come he never knew there was such a Defense Array?! He turned his head abruptly, only to find that Veronica’s expression hadn’t changed at all from beginning to end.

Clearly, all the unexpected events tonight were well within her expectations.

Realizing this, the Mage looked back down. The fact that they intercepted that Arrow just now probably caught the attacker off guard. Just as the figure was contemplating what to do next—whether to continue the assault or temporarily fall back—Magic Circuits suddenly lit up one after another beneath his feet!

The person glanced down and instinctively tried to get away, but it was already too late.

The Wind Element and Fire Element, compressed to their absolute limits, were released simultaneously, triggering a massive, violent explosion! And that pitch-black figure was standing right at the epicenter of the blast!

Raging flames instantly swallowed him whole.

"We got him!" the Mage couldn’t help but cry out, his tone brimming with excitement.

However, in the very next moment, he realized his mistake.

"Wait, no!"

Under his astonished gaze, the originally crimson flames began to gradually shift into a ghostly blue from the very center. That beautiful yet dangerous blue was like a drop of dye in water, spreading and expanding outward at an incredibly rapid pace, as if it would devour all the flames in the next second.

However, Lilia didn’t give him that chance.

Her extremely high Fire Elemental Affinity granted her absolute control over all flames, even if they were tainted by the aura of a Demon. The girl took a step out from the darkness. At the same time, the flames that had been wreaking havoc around the dark silhouette seemed drawn by some invisible force, gathering upward into a long dragon before falling tamely into the girl’s palm.

The dark figure turned to face her, still not uttering a single word.

The attack just now wasn’t completely ineffective. The warhorse he had been riding was already reduced to ashes, and his pitch-black armor had sustained varying degrees of damage, revealing the human skin underneath.

His skin was extremely pale, carrying the sickly luster of someone who hadn’t seen the sun in years. The Demonic Qi shrouding him had been dispersed by the flames, exposing a face that bore a thirty-percent resemblance to Caius.

Just like in the previous timeline.

He wore a black, half-thorned mask. His empty eye sockets burned with flames, and his left arm was missing, leaving nothing but a charred, blackened bone. No expression could be seen on the young man’s handsome face. He was cold and sharp, like a sword flashing with a chilling gleam in the dark of night.

He stared at Lilia in silence, seemingly realizing that this was the person he was looking for.

He took a step forward.

At the same time, Lilia smiled at him from ahead. "Long time no see.

"Selas Beaumont."

As soon as her words fell, the young man’s pupils shrank sharply.

Before he could figure out how Lilia knew his name, the solid ground beneath his feet suddenly turned into a muddy swamp, causing him to sink uncontrollably! That momentary daze prevented him from reacting immediately. Just as he snapped back to his senses, a blast of chilling wind rushed at his face.

It was Lilia!

She thrust forward with a longsword forged of flames. The dark figure jerked backward, letting the scorching blade graze right past his chest.

In this timeline, Lilia possessed the Heavenly Dao Rewards Diligence talent. This talent didn’t just apply to Magic; it also ensured that whenever she practiced various combat or life skills, she would become more proficient the more she trained. During these past few months in Navia, Lilia had never once slacked off.

Bolstered by her powerful talent, even though her Constitution wasn’t high, her Body Techniques were terrifyingly strong. At the very least, across the entirety of Navia, no one was a match for her anymore.

Lilia reacted with lightning speed. With a flick of her wrist, the blade that had just slashed horizontally abruptly changed its angle and thrust straight ahead!

She flicked off his thorned mask, revealing a blackened skeletal visage. Half of it was a handsome human youth, while the other half was a hideous skeletal Demon.

Even Lilia couldn’t help but feel a little surprised upon seeing such a face. However, her movements didn’t pause in the slightest due to her surprise.

"Is this the price you must pay to fuse with a Demon?"

Her second sentence made the young man freeze for another second.

"What kind of benefits did Caius give you," the girl asked in a calm voice, "for you to willingly fight his battles, and even die for him?"

The young man’s expression darkened, his gaze toward Lilia now brimming with murderous intent. He took a step back as pitch-black Demonic Qi skyrocketed into the air!

Since he had been completely seen through, there was no need for him to hide anything anymore.

The girl’s strength was formidable, far exceeding his expectations. But no matter how strong she was, she had only barely reached the level of a High-level Mage. Even with the augmentation of her Body Techniques, it was impossible for her to beat him.

Today. Right here, right now.

She had to die!

The young man’s eyes turned icy. The pitch-black Demonic Qi morphed into sharp blades and chains, slicing through the air like venomous snakes as they thrust toward Lilia. If she failed to dodge or block in time, this single strike would leave Lilia riddled with holes.

But at this critical juncture, Lilia didn’t dodge, nor did she cast any Magic.

She simply smiled and took a step back. "Have you forgotten... why you came looking for me in the first place?"
