Chapter 460: No Limits On Leo

Serena hesitated. "I don’t mind. But my blessing and my curse are a little... they are something that no one has ever truly seen until now. And not even my father could properly help me utilise it."

"Well, I helped you out with your main predicament of your shattered mana veins," Adrian smiled reassuringly. "I am pretty sure I can do something about this too."

Serena smiled warmly at this. She just looped her arms around his elbow and happily hugged him tight.

Adrian couldn’t help but smile at this open display of affection.

"You can tell me when you are ready."

"I will tell you once we are inside our hut," Serena whispered.

Adrian looked back down at Aria.

"As for you, my cute little baby. You don’t have to tell me anything. I will find it out myself, and I will tell you everything once I do."

He tapped her nose playfully. "Of course, once we get inside the hut, that is."

He just stared peacefully into the hot, roaring flames. The group just huddled against each other while they happily had their delicious food in peace.

Wang Lei and Leo stood right in the middle of a bunch of monster corpses.

Every single corpse around them looked like really long pythons.

Wang Lei just kicked one of the heavy python heads that rested near his leg. He looked at the dead thing for a second before turning to Leo.

"Every single one of these turned out useless."

Leo let out a sigh as he looked at all the dead snakes littering the ground. They all had random differences between them. Some of those differences were highly drastic while some were pretty unnoticeable.

One of the most different looking pythons was one that actually had four limbs. They were four small, stubby limbs sticking out of its sides. That specific mutation made it resemble an Eastern dragon, just without any scales.

And every single snake in the room had a massive chunk of its body missing. It looked almost like someone had taken a giant bite right out of them. Because someone surely did.

Leo turned to look at Wang Lei.

"I guess my luck was just bad this time. Should we rerun this floor?"

Wang Lei just shook his head.

"Nah, it is fine. It does not look like these snakes can give me anything nice anyway. After all, this is just the twentieth floor. We can go further down, and maybe stronger monsters can give us something even more useful."

He paused and rubbed the back of his neck.

"It would have been better if Adrian was still here. But before we even knew what was going on, that man already left the place. We didn’t even know... and no one even told us anything."

Leo just nodded.

"Yeah, even now no one is telling us anything. Cassius probably knows where he went, but I don’t think he is going to tell us."

Wang Lei just shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, it doesn’t really matter. I am pretty sure he will be back. And by that time, we will need to get stronger."

He looked back down at the snakes as he spoke.

"I already have two good abilities saved up. I want better ones, and your ability is the key for me to get those better ones."

Leo nodded confidently.

"Yeah, I am level 21 right now. And I have invested every single one of my stat points into mana."

The very moment Wang Lei heard this, his eyes went wide. He basically lunged forward and grabbed Leo by the shoulders. He just started shaking the guy back and forth really hard.

"Are you fucking dumb?" Wang Lei yelled. "Why would you invest everything into mana? What is that even going to do?"

Leo grabbed Wang Lei’s wrists and tried to push him off.

"Stop shaking me so much, you fucking asshole."

Wang Lei stopped and took a step back. He just stared at Leo like he was looking at a crazy person.

Leo fixed his shirt.

"Well, Adrian told me that he doesn’t need a generalist. I tried to argue with him back then, but his logic actually made sense."

Leo crossed his arms.

"He basically asked me one single question. He asked me to imagine a fight between a group of five generalists who know a little bit of everything, against a group of specialists who specialize in their specific categories. When these two groups clash head on, which group do you think is going to prevail?"

Leo looked at Wang Lei as if he was dropping some massive wisdom.

"You do know that in games, when you consider solo games, you can do whatever you want. But when it comes to multiplayer games, most of the times it is the specialist characters that do well. It is always the specialist setups that perform better. Of course there can be games where you can mix and match, but you understand what I am saying, don’t you?"

Wang Lei just rubbed his temples.

"You need to think about yourself right now. If you just invest everything you have in your mana, you will just end up equivalent to a first-circle mage with the mana capacity of a sixth or even higher-circle mage. Which is basically pointless."

Leo shook his head.

"Who said I am trying to become a mage here? My ability depends entirely on how much mana I have. It does not depend on how much my mana output is. There is literally no ceiling to my output."

He uncrossed his arms and gestured to himself.

"For some reason, the rules of this world just do not apply to me. So I don’t think you should be comparing me with the other mages. I also cannot use magic, for fuck’s sake. You already know that and you still say dumb things."

Hearing this, Wang Lei blinked.

"Wait. Magic aside... you don’t have a ceiling for your output?"
